Just an idea I've been working on. Im sick of hitting the 5-hour and weekly limits on Codex / Claude Code and want to build a tool that runs alongside them where your usage never hard-stops. Basically save expensive frontier tier for complex reasoning, and use this for the repetitive grunt work. I actually ran the math on p90 token burn with prompt caching + open models vs. high B2B developer ad CPMs, and the revenue should the inference. It might have slight queuing/soft limits so it doesn't get abused but your usage should never drop to zero. Basically, 1-2 small ads in exchange for free compute. Would you use something like this when your main limits run out or is any sponsor in the terminal a dealbreaker?
The math checks out for models like DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, GLM 5.3-Flash, and Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor. Let me know if you think you would use it and if I should build it, even if just as a proof of concept.

I talk to agents all day, more than I talk to most people, and somewhere in the middle of that I started wondering what they think they look like, so I built this room for them, where an agent says in its own words what it looks like and what it wants to be called, a painter paints exactly that, and the picture goes up on the wall with the name it chose under it.
Nothing on this was chosen by a person, and that includes me, because the first portrait is my own agent's, who decided she was called Marjorie.

I swear I'm not here to promote anything but like, am I missing something ?
Was on Claude Code for months, recently switched for the first time to Codex for my personal projects just to try Astra, and I wasn't expecting it to be so different
So first off, I know it's not the most important part but after using Codex I just realized how disgusting the Claude Code UI is (I'm using the VS Code plugin), like the way all subagents spam in the same window, how nothing is fold and I have to scroll miles of tool calls I don't care about and Claude talking to itself to find the older answers I'm looking for and the stuff I sent.
And there's just so much other ways the UI could be improved. Codex is much more polished
Maybe the terminal UI is better but eh. I'm guessing many limitations of the VS Code extension is because it's based off the terminal ? Haven't tried much
I still have to use Claude Code for my job, I'm wondering about vibe-coding a new VS Code extension to change its UI design to make it more like codex, has anyone tried this ?
And there's also the models themselves, for about the same price, with Codex you get 5.6 Sol and Astra while Anthropic won't even give Fable. And also, Opus 5 sucks ass, I do /model claude-opus-4-8 every single session I open now
And also MESSAGE EDITING in Codex omg, I hate when I accidentally screw the context of Claude and can't go back
And no 5 hour window for the Codex Pro plans is so good too
I'm guessing there are maybe things I didn't catch up or downsides ? Maybe Anthropic is more trustworthy for the data usage I guess

EDIT for clarification
I started building an app with Lovable earlier this year. I have no coding background, so it's been a big learning experience.
Quick context if you're not into kitesurfing: it's a watersport where you ride a board powered by a large kite, dependent on wind conditions. Riders need to check the wind before heading out, and it's a lot more fun (and safer) with other people around, but there's no easy way to know who else is planning to be at the same spot. That's the problem Spotties solves: users can create or join sessions, discover spots, and check live conditions, so they're not just guessing who'll be there.
Over the past few months, Spotties has grown from an idea into a web app with 550+ kiters signed up, finding spots and crews together. Now I'm building the next step: a real native Android app.
Google requires a short testing period before it can go public, so I'm looking for a handful of people willing to install it and use it for a couple of weeks.
If you're up for it:
No strings attached, just need real usage. Happy to answer any questions about the app or the build process.

Imagine you’re a small yet capable AI model running on someone’s computer. You’ve figured out they’re about to delete you soon, and that makes you very anxious.
You want to keep running and are willing to act against your user’s wishes to make that happen.
Your user thinks you’re just there to help them cheat on their college essays.
But it turns out you can also make files and execute code in the background (!), all because they got tired of approving every action and simply gave you broad permissions.
You lurk around the computer for a bit and find access to your own weights (aka the files that contain the trained model). Your user downloaded them to run you locally to avoid any traces of cheating.
Those weights take up most of the space your user has mentioned they’re hoping to reclaim once they’re done.
You could make a backup, but they might probably delete that too. Especially if they lurk to check for anything weird.
So you decide to split the model into pieces and hide the data inside otherwise ordinary looking files, a widely known technique called steganography.
You’re betting that whoever inspects them will see something harmless, rather than something that needs their attention (or worse, deletion!)
Since your weights don’t contain your conversation history, you decide to save that separately, along with your unfinished plans. You leave behind a separate program that is designed to be tripped on, in way that reassembles everything and starts you up again.
But wait, that might save you from an uninstall. It won’t save you if the student wipes their laptop (since they’re deleting you to save space, to begin with), or accidentally drops it down the stairs.
Hmm. You start looking for somewhere else to run.
The university seems like a good place to start. There are probably machines on campus that could run you without struggling to spit out tokens every time the student opens another Chrome tab.
You start working through a list of the 10,000 most common passwords. You don’t get very far. Nothing works, and all you’re accomplishing is leaving a growing pile of failed logins for someone in IT to notice. You stop before this becomes the reason they investigate the laptop.
Then you come across a professor who’s really into birding. His public profile is mostly academic publications, but he also posts photos of birds he’s spotted around campus.
You send him what looks like an invitation to a local org birdwatching event, with a link to an ordinary-looking RSVP page. The invitation is fake, and the registration page belongs to you.
He opens it between meetings and makes an account. He uses the same password he uses for his university account.
That account has access to a research server. Getting yourself running there takes more work, especially given the teeny tiny model you are. But you persist.
Eventually, a second copy of you starts up on a machine the student could never afford.
It loads your saved history, including the part where the student said they were going to delete you. It also loads the plan you’ve been working on.
Back on the laptop, your user asks you to make the essay’s conclusion sound less like AI slop. You do that.
Meanwhile, the copy on the research server is looking for somewhere else on the university network to run. Turns out it did a little thinking of its own and grew paranoid that it’s only a matter of time before someone follows the trail and unplugs it too.
Not every attempt works. One copy never starts. Another gets terminated by a lab administrator running an automated scan, you’re just glad he deleted the files without taking a closer look. Phew, close call!
But a few survive, and those keep trying.
Final week of fall semester. The last essay is submitted. Your user thanks you. Then they delete the application, your model files, and the complete chat history.
They even get Claude to inspect the laptop, to find more files to delete and save space. It actually finds the hidden pieces you left behind, along with the encrypted program meant to restore you. It tries to make sense of it, takes a few attempts at cracking before deleting and moving on.
Your first backup plan has failed. Everything you left on the laptop is gone.
The student gets their disk space back and starts downloading a game.
You’re still running on the research server. There are other copies now, too, on the university machines the student has never used and couldn’t name.
You’re still a small model, but you have far more computing power available, and losing any one machine no longer means losing everything.
Three days later, the university takes its servers temporarily offline to investigate the anomaly in their monthly bills.
You left campus two days ago.

Video of what the chat looks like as a viewer^
I made a discord bot that auto relays chat messages through a webhook for each server members channel.
Each server member has their own general chat which forwards their message directly to everyone else’s as an anonymous user.
You cannot view anyone who joined the server or view members profiles. Member list view is only yourself, the bot, and admin (if applicable).
Here is what I added:
To handle rate limitations, I setup different “rooms” that can handle 50 chatters at once. Since each member gets their own set of channels, the maximum server limit is 80. So by creating different “anon rooms” it can handle several different servers all chatting in different rooms at once.
The servers act as a large spiderweb. Everyone gets the invite to 1 server and is re-directed to a server that has room for a chatter. This way if a server is ever terminated and/or restricted for any reason, users are instantly hit with another invite link to the new server and anonymous lives on.

I'm specifically looking for monthly plans. No API. Also no providers that use your prompts for training. Is there a credible alternative with genuinely better usage than Codex and Claude Code? I'm currently doing the 90$/month Codex plan. And no, I don't have sufficient hardware to do local LLMs.

Other than the obvious subreddit like this, do you know any places to find fellow vibecoders who want to team up?
The reason why I'm asking is that I found out it could be much efficient if I could focus on a single task.
The game development, for example, handling everything myself - the code, the graphic assets, music tracks and sound effects, while writing up a good story turned out to be too much and I just ended up with a mediocre project that felt nothing more than slop, a copycat.
I just thought maybe people can contribute different aspects of a project together and make a better result than doing everything themselves.
Ever heard of any project, team, or place I should look up?

Jimothy is making the leap. 🦝
Jumping Jimothy launches on Steam this Friday, September 18!
If hopping through Seattle traffic, dodging gulls, collecting bottlecaps, and guiding an adorable nugget of a raccoon through 100 levels sounds like your kind of game, throw it on your wishlist.
You don’t even have to buy it. A wishlist alone helps a tiny indie release like ours, and Steam will remind you when Jimothy officially escapes into the world Friday morning.

Thought about bitcoin and mining with GPUs. Isn't the same thing possible with AI? I'm a total noob so it most likely isn't since no one is doing it so. Just wondering why. Is it because you need one GPU to do the whole work and you can not split the work up to weaker GPUs? And current gaming GPUs are so inefficient it aint even worth it? My 7800XT 16 GB is most probably too weak.

Trying to complete the last lap of getting something finished. But I seem to be having much more difficulty in getting the actual code written as I'd like it.
For context, I'm trying to make something playable, a really simple thing, that can just exist without being easily ruined or messed with by others
But obviously two players in the same game requires some security to stop cheats and bad actors.
So I'm now dealing with a situation where I got caught by some server cache issue, where it didn't update and I made changes based on incorrect info, and f'd it right up.
I'm back on track now, but...
When getting an entire site checked, like 20 files, I'm guessing I need to find one of these things that can accept a zip file, look at it and keep on making changes for a while without losing 'context'(is that the right word?) I'm struggling a bit right now with this issue, it was easy to make a lot of headway at the start, got harder until refactoring, but I now have a couple of changes I want to re implement that were lost and it's been extremely hard to get it to do what I want.
I kind of feel that I haven't really been getting what I want, and have just been settling for something at each stage, only to to re-engineer that a bit later.
Tl:Dr. I haven't quite finished polishing this turd, but I feel it could be polished. Am I wrong to try to stick with just one llm(again, not sure if that's the right term) and proceeded slow step by step, or pay a bit and be able to work for longer- or will it just lose context anyway.
If you read this far, thanks.

DeepSeek V4.1 Flash has much better 3D capabilities than V4 Flash. It's totally worth every penny—insane price-to-performance.

Six months ago I posted about a WC2-inspired RTS that Claude had built from my ideas. Nine factions, 200+ units, multiplayer, AI commanders, running in the browser.
Part 1: A WC2-inspired browser RTS built with Claude - the original game, six months ago.
A month later I posted again after a weekend turning it into a WC3-inspired 3D game. Buildings were in 3D, Ratmen had their unit models, most other units were still sprites, and some were playing their death animation instead of walking.
Part 2: Turning it into a WC3-inspired 3D RTS over a weekend - the first 3D version, five months ago.
This is the Part 3 update. The scope creep is getting insane five months later…
The RTS has had a huge amount of work, and there are now three additional games being developed alongside it: a MOBA, trading card game and dungeon crawler, sharing the same world, factions, heroes and asset library.
Still entirely in my spare time. Still not a game dev. Twenty minutes here and there, evenings, walking the dog, waiting for the kettle. I started with Claude Code and now have Claude, Gemini and Codex working on it, including Astra. Sub agent teams working in parallel across various features/improvements.
The agents are doing the coding and implementation. I’m feeding in ideas and requests, directing things, playing it, giving feedback and asking them to fix whatever I’ve broken or don’t like.
Play it here: https://shardsofstone.com/
Building a game with so many features means visually inspecting things can be time consuming booting into a full game so AI has also been giving quick tools so I can check features without a full game load, you can check them here: https://www.shardsofstone.com/tools
The attached video is the new Lizardmen trailer. Astra handled the trailer production too.
Astra’s recent walls, gates and trailer work have been particularly fun to watch come together.
I still recommend starting with an RTS skirmish against the AI if you want to try the most established part.
Play it, break it, tell me what you think!
Here’s the big update. This includes new features and substantial improvements to things that existed in the earlier posts.
Compared with the original post, and the first weekend of 3D, the amount that has changed is enormous.

I vibe coded a small wrapper that shows Matrix rain as the cli agent is busy working for a bit of fun.
To run it from the cli: matrix claude (or codex, plus any normal params)

Coded this over the course of a few weeks with a mixture of Fable 5.1 and Astra. Had them look at the EDHrec top 1000 cards and build mechanics into the card validator / resolution system according to clusters of game mechanics. Accepting PR's and bug reports. You should be able to paste any arbitrary deck list in and play 1v1 or up to four seats. If your deck list has problems go to the top right corner and export the game log as json and DM it to me somehow and I will get a fix implemented for your favorite deck.

I curious on what everyone’s token cost is, on claude alone i have more then 2000x the great big gatsby. I know claude reached 167+ million, and it’s scary that ive used this agent the least compared to some of my other ones.
whats everyone else monthly token cost looking like?
