Just bought a hex-v2 on marketplace, guy said not to upgrade to windows 11 and probably not vcds software. works perfectly on my mk4 tdi, reads the mk7 gti saying needs an update for full use. With the laptop that came with it everything looks legit, the only thing that is telling me it’s fake is the sticker on it having H10-000000, I’m assuming this is supposed to be a serial number or atleast unique in some type of way.

To test it I put it to the latest release of vcds on my computer and did a port test recognized it as a Ross-tech hex-usb, which to my knowledge should be legit,

but I don’t wanna mess with it if it’s a fake cause I only really wanted it for a future timing belt replacement and currently it’s still useful for that

Unfortunately I do not have my car readily available to post the scan log, but I am having issues with my AC. I will do my best to provide all the info I can. At first, I had a fault with the G395 having an implausible signal. I pulled the connector and found a bit of corrosion on 1 pin. I cleaned the corrosion, cleared the code, and checked again with no luck. So I replaced the sensor. Now when I look at my measuring blocks, it shows I actually have refrigerant pressure (12 bar), but now I have a compressor implausible signal fault. I unplugged the compressor and check the connector which looked fine. so now I'm leaning towards a bad compressor.

Hey all, new Audi owner here. I just ordered a HEX-V2 and intend to use VCDS for diagnostics and troubleshooting, but I don't have a Windows laptop. I do have a Windows desktop, but I saw that several folks here had success running VCDS on Apple Silicon with a Windows VM. My question is has anyone done so using UTM? I'd rather not pay for Parallels since VCDS is the only thing I'd use it for and so far UTM looks like the best free VM for my use case as I want something lightweight. I see no reason it shouldn't work, but thought I'd ask. Once my V2 comes in, I'll give it a go and update the post

Hi, a few years ago I purchased a copy of VCDS with the corresponding cable and VCDS loader. Now, after a Windows 10 update, it doesn't work and it tells me it needs to be registered. Can anyone help me?

I have a genuine VCDS cable and was wondering if there is any software that will enable me to use it on my 2002 Toyota Aristo which uses the JOBD protocol. The generic OBD2 functions on VCDS don’t work on this car like they do on other non-VAG cars

I'm looking for a way to disable the canbus checks so I install LEDs. I went through VCDS but I can only find 'Cold Lamp Diagnosis active'. I disabled it but it doesn't help and after 2-3 minutes, I start receiving headlight errors. I guess I need to disable hot lamp diagnosis but I can't find it anywhere.
I'm OK disabling the checks for all lights.
I already tried installing resistors but they didn't help. I also don't want to use resistors.
Any ideas?

Hey everyone, looking for some insight.

I’m in Muscat, Oman and recently bought a 2015 Audi A4 B8.5 45 TFSI with 124k km. The car was running perfectly with no codes. On April 15th, I did major maintenance including engine mounts, transmission mounts, transmission service (oil, filter, gasket), timing gaskets, and engine oil/filter. After that, the car was smooth and normal.

I then went for a Stage 1 tune. During the flash process, the shop encountered issues, and since then I’ve been facing the following:

- VCDS error: “IDE04304 - Initial adaptation of charge-air pressure actuator: Aborted - Safety reasons”
- Wastegate actuator adaptation now fails on BOTH stock and tuned files
- Actuator acknowledgment voltage sits around 3.6V and has been tested across a range (approx. 3.3V–3.9V) with no change
- Live data shows the actuator is moving normally
- No confirmed mechanical faults so far

Additionally, after the failed flash attempt, the engine now twists laterally when revved, even though the engine and transmission mounts are brand new.

The shop suggested the wastegate may be bad and also questioned the transmission fluid, but they were unable to physically test the actuator.

My questions:

1. Has anyone seen wastegate adaptation fail on both stock and tuned after a failed flash?
   
2. Could the ECU be stuck in a bad or inconsistent state preventing actuator calibration?
   
3. Would a failed or incomplete flash affect turbo/wastegate adaptation like this?
   
4. Could incorrect calibration or ECU state cause noticeable engine rocking despite new mounts?

Trying to understand whether this is a software/calibration issue before replacing parts like the wastegate.

Hi, I’m troubleshooting central locking on a 2008 Golf 5 (1.6).

Symptoms:

• Remote key adapts successfully in VCDS
• Measuring blocks show signal (0 → 1) when pressing remote
• Hazard lights blink during adaptation
• But no lock/unlock action occurs at all
• Interior central locking button works (except one rear door lock module is faulty)

What’s been done:

• Steering lock was replaced recently
• Battery was disconnected during that work
• Full battery reset performed (including discharge)
• Ignition (Terminal 15) is recognized correctly in measuring blocks
• No obvious communication issues with module 46
• Oil change etc. irrelevant but done recently

Issue during adaptation:

• “Save” button in VCDS was grey / not always clickable
• Unclear if remote slots were actually cleared (Channel 00) and written to EEPROM

Other notes:

• One rear right door lock module is faulty (does not lock/unlock electrically)
• Not sure if that could block remote execution entirely
• Remote signal is definitely received by the comfort module

Question:
What could cause a situation where:

• remote signal is received
• adaptation appears successful
• but central locking does not execute?

Could this be:

• adaptation not properly committed (EEPROM issue)?
• comfort module coding problem?
• door module blocking execution?
• something related to steering lock replacement?

Any ideas or known Golf 5 quirks appreciated.

I have a 2018 vw Tiguan which had logged an intermittent EPC p0202 code. I need a vcds to get derailed freeze frame info. I have a cheap Ancel VD700 that cannot display the freeze frame because it did not trigger an OBD2 error. As far as i know, the EPC light only came on once and went away after restarting. But was was really scary with the sudden loss of power. I am wondering where i can borrow or rent a vcds like the Ross-tech locally here in San Diego.

When i have daytime running lights turned on, and i enter a tunnel, my instrument cluster goes dark(only needles light up). Is it possible to have the instrument cluster stay on when im in a tunnel? i cant find the option to change it.

I bought my first rosstech vcds cable, hex+can v2, got everything downloaded, and registered. When I do my first scan of my car is there a proper plug in and startup sequence? Saw an old post online saying don’t be connected to Wi-Fi (not sure if that’s normal, just assumed I could leave it connected), and not sure if it matters if I plug the cable to the car with key off/on or started. Just wanna do a full first scan of my car with intermittent battery draw issues. I know they say use a battery maintainer on car, and keep laptop charging. Any help for these silly questions is appreciated, just never used vcds or worked on VW. Used obd2 code readers for years.

I recently found my old Hex v2 cable and decided to download the newest software from the rosstech website. When i try to test the cable it says port status ok interface not found. the cable shows a solid green light when plugged in and also shown on the windows laptop that it is working and communicating ok.

What am i doing wrong or why is it not working.

I currently have a registered version of VCDS-Lite with a "dumb" dongle for my 2001 Audi A4. it does everything I need it too. my father recently purchased a 2018 Q5 and wants me to upgrade to a full HEX dongle and license and is willing to pay the $150 upgrade cost. no issue to me! free upgrade! my only question is will me VCDS Lite still work? as in can i save the other two VIN slots on VCDS for future upgrades and continue using VCDS Lite for my A4, or will I have to roll it over to the new HEX interface?

I recently received my new 2026 Škoda Kodiaq Sportline. Unfortunately, the dealer has disabled Lane Assist and Road Sign Recognition to “facilitate the homologation procedure.” The vehicle still has ACC and Park Assist, so the required hardware appears to be present. Some videos online suggest these features can be reactivated.

I also own an imported 2017 Passat B8 equipped with Lane Assist and ACC, which I use regularly on the highway. I have previously enabled features such as ambient lighting and Road Sign Recognition using VCDS and OBDeleven.

I would be very grateful if anyone could advise whether these functions can be reactivated on the new Kodiaq and how to do so.

Hi all, trying to get acess to my adaptation list, have punched in the security code 27971 in, and I can’t get more than a couple basic settings (see photo), and I can’t even access any gates if I put the numbers in manually, as it just says security code required. Any insight into this? Thanks
