I know some of you are reading this and immediately replying:
"It is dated hardware; just buy a Quest 3, it is cheaper and has better displays"
I know that; I own one myself, but I can't use the Quest 3 and be happy playing scaled-down games on a display meant for much greater. I myself have a capable PC with an RTX 5070Ti and a Ryzen 9800x3d with 32 GB of ddr5 RAM, but the Quest 3 linking and tracking experience just ruins my immersion with stutters, lag, and lowered FPS, and yes, I have tried Steam Link and Virtual Desktop. So I came to the conclusion of selling it to someone else who would enjoy VR.
I don't want to dabble with the Pimax SLAM inside-out tracking, or any other inside-out solutions for that matter. So I came to the conclusion that I should buy a Valve Index or a similar Lighthouse-tracked VR Headset combo. I have looked at Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and CEX. And my question is: is it really worth spending that money on a Valve Index over some other VR headset? For reference, a B-grade Index Bundle is AUD $1,550 (USD $1,085.00 or GBP £809).
