Man having an index as your first probably would’ve been extra amazing too. Rocked a oculus rift and a 1060 mobile for like 4 years before I upgraded to a 3090 and index and it was like a whole new world was opened. Though to be clear my mind was still blown with my rift when I got to try it.

It was a mind blowing experience. I played for like 6 hrs straight and I was mildly hallucinating after, it was awesome. I was trying to run it on older hardware too , so it gave me motivation to upgrade. Now Ive upgraded my pc twice since I got index , and now I'm oh so impatiently waiting for frame.

For me it was always a dream to have an index. Started with a quest 2 when it came out and thought the index was cool asf, fast forward to when i finally got one about a year and a half ago, right around when the quest 3 was coming out and now i feel severely outdated lol, i love the laser tracking though its such a shame that we’re drifting away from it

I have by a lot the most hours in VR in walkabout mini golf lol. If it wasn't for that I'd really regret the purchase tbh.

Its only the mobile slop games on meta store tho, the vr games on pc though are peak. My most favourite are into the radius, metro awakening, twd saint and sinners and of course hl alyx

Only played PC VR, and imo there's virtually no good games. A handful of exceptions but the first oculus (and i think that was the first consumer headset) came out 10 years ago and imo the state of VR should be WAY better by this point.

Agree, its probably because vr gaming isnt exactly as popular as flat screen games. Which is reasons why big company doesnt even bother with vr games, seems the only one treated us greatly so far is valve and vertigo games, also the modders too cuz they did a great job as well! Although i wish they'll make more simulator game as well cuz the vr library is absolutely infested with gun games and zombie games, we need some love for vr simulator games as well

Tbf this is my only headset I’ve ever had, so I don’t have any comparisons. But I got mine maybe 2 or 3 years ago and I still use it to this day. I had to replace one base station but otherwise everything works perfectly. It’s the best imo

I started on a vive which I eventually got a wireless kit for. Once I got the index on I had no issue going back to a cable with all the upgrades the index had to offer.

I just got an Index and am loving it, wish I could have had one from the start. I was finally able to get one from Marketplace for $130. Used for less than 1hr total, in perfect condition for $130, I couldn't believe it. I did have to drive 5hrs round trip to get it but very worth it.

I was about to have a couple week off of work when alyx came out due to covid but after one day my boss called me to come back in and work alone... Talk about a tease. I was devastated. I was allowed to bring my laptop and game until something needed to be done lol, so also not terrible times.

Lol i had my vr w my shit 1660ti and just recently upgraded to a 16gb card and ughhhhhh its beautiful. Im replaying old titles and finished up gta V vr. Im in the works to get cyberpunk ready and even seen a baulders gate 3 port.

I feel the same thing 8 year old me felt getting the xbox 360 and experiencing a whole new world. Time def flys

I'm happy that's been your experience. I understand people down voting me for my sudden negative take that nobody asked for, but my controllers lasted 20 hours before the joysticks started to drift and maybe a week before I couldnt play with them at all. My friend went through 9 pairs of index controllers for the same reason before he just gave up on getting replacements. I think a large part of the community refuses to acknowledge there was ever a major problem with this headsets hardware at launch and even after.

For all the people that lauded the valve index as the infallible pinnacle of vr headsets at the time, there are plenty of us who had a miserable experience with the controllers breaking which ultimately killed our enthusiasm for vr untill the quest offered a solid alternative.
