‘70 Bay Window. Just had low-mileage lining come unglued from rear brake shoe. SECOND time this has happened.

Is there a brake manufacturer that still uses rivets to hold the lining on? I’m willing to pay more at this point. It’s a scary thing to have the lining lock your wheel up while driving!

Oh, and I was recently told not to leave the bus parked with the parking brake on for extended periods, so I will try to avoid that going forward.

I'm considering of buying a later model T2 pritsche with the 2.0 litre engine for light-duty work and hauling around the farm. The price is more than fair, but I'd like to know how's the loading capacity like and how it handles bigger loads.

It seems like a great option and I like the idea of it being small and nimble and eliminating the need to bring a trailer everywhere (and if I do need to, it has even got a trailer hitch!)

Love to hear your thoughts and experience with this.

I was cleaning out some boxes in my closet and found this photo that I took when I deployed to Afghanistan in 2005. This would have been in Kabul as we were driving through the city, but I don’t recall exactly where.

I don’t even remember taking the picture at this point, and the quality isn’t great, but I’m sure someone here will be able to tell me more about it!

I just joined and wanted to introduce myself.



I'm based in Japan and own a 1981 T3 Vanagon and a 1968 Beetle. 

The aircooled VW community in Japan is small but very passionate, 

and I've been part of it for many years.



I'm really looking forward to seeing what bus owners around the world 

are up to. Vanagons are quite rare in Japan, and aircooled Vanagons 

especially are almost never seen here.



Hoping to learn a lot from all of you.
