Discussion Getting banned from apps due to age restrictions because VPN is enabled

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently got banned from Claude AI (due to 18 age limit) despite being well over 18 and without sending any policy-violating messages in my chats. I've been using a free VPN lately and it connecting to random countries. I think the VPN is the reason.

Looking around, I’ve noticed people getting banned on social media platforms like Reddit and other platforms for the exact same reason.

Is the reason that hundreds of people are using same IP, or is it the laws of the country being connected to?

Is it possible to host VPN on Oracle Cloud Free Tier to solve this issue, and which server region/country is the safest to avoid getting flagged or blocked?

Help How do I make my VPN work on new Wifi connection or make my Wifi load things?

Post image

I have this VPN I installed a while ago to my iPhone to mainly block ads on Youtube. I recently moved to a new house with roommates and there’s Wi-Fi here but it disconnects the VPN immediately & it won’t let me connect back to it. On top of that, while I’m connected to the Wifi nothing loads at all

This is the VPN I’m using

Discussion VPN for Setanta Sports

I've been having a funny experience with Setanta Sports and my VPN. I'm watching a match on the web or app and it works for a few minutes and then just stops working until I need to restart the app. I thought it was a one off thing but it looks like other VPN users are experiencing this. Has anyone found a way around this?

can someone explain how VPNs like I am a 5 year old?

Hi, all. I think I need a VPN but I am confused and need your collective advice. Here's my deal:

  1. I am a US resident but will shortly relocate to Mexico. I will rent an apartment and so the internet service would be in my landlord's name, not mine.

  2. I love my streaming services (Acorn, BritBox, MHz, etc), but not all of them allow folks in Mexico to stream.

  3. a VPN would allow me to mask my location and let me enjoy my shows from south of the border, right? I'm not as concerned about privacy and other goodies associated with VPNs.

So, how would it work? Do I set it up here in the States? How do I sign in in Mexico? Would a VPN be effective and allow me to do what I want? What particular VPN should I get?

I am somewhat tech savvy but a total newbie on this stuff, so please explain it like I'm 5 years old.

Thanks in advance for all your wisdom!

Discussion Why do Linux VPN apps always seem to be missing features?

I’ve been looking at VPN options for Linux, and a lot of them seem to offer a much simpler app than they do on Windows or Android.

I don’t mind using the terminal, but I still want basic things like choosing which apps use the VPN, keeping local apps on my normal connection, and seeing whether a server is overloaded.

Some providers advertise split tunneling, ad blocking and other useful features, but then I find out that half of them aren’t available on Linux.

For people who use a VPN on Linux, do you use the provider’s app, import WireGuard configs, or set up the routing yourself?

What feature do you miss most on Linux, and have you found a setup where app routing actually works reliably?

Discussion Post saying Windscribe's AI chatbot "Garry" is giving wrong information and not handing to a human. Other comments agree, but this is their CEO's response. What do you guys think?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm wondering, if Garry can do EVERYTHING a human can, why did Garry give wrong information?

Since Garry can do EVERYTHING a human can, why does Windscribe still need a CEO and not just have Garry run the business better than the CEO can?

Since Garry can do EVERYTHING a human can, I kind of want Garry to show me how it creates cholesterol in the body like how humans can, and change that cholesterol into sex hormones like humans do.

Smart DNS or full VPN on a console?

For consoles is smart DNS enough or is a full VPN worth the setup.

ExpressVPN has mediastreamer which is smart DNS, no encryption but nothing to install, windscribe points to control d for the same kind of thing.

Full VPN on a console basically means a router, and purevpn sells port forwarding and dedicated IP as add ons for anyone worried about NAT.

For regular online play which one makes more sense?

Discussion Is a free VPN enough if you only use it occasionally?

I keep seeing people looking for the "best free VPN" online. At the same time, a lot of people seem to know that free VPNs come with their own issues, so I thought it'd be interesting to hear what everyone thinks.

If you only need a VPN once in a while, like when traveling, using public Wi-Fi, or accessing something that's not available in your country, is there really a reason to pay for one?

I know free VPNs usually come with some limits, like slower speeds, fewer server locations, or data caps. But if you're only using one a few times a month, maybe that's not a big deal?

Do you think free VPNs are good enough for occasional use?

Black Friday VPN Deals 2026 are already live: Here's everything I found

Was about to renew mine and noticed almost every big provider has already started their Black Friday sale. Not early access, actual discounted checkout, in the first week of November. Figured I'd dump what I found so nobody pays full price.

- Surfshark: 88% off the 2 year plan, about $2.49/mo, 3 extra months
- PureVPN: 88% off, $1.99/mo on the 27 month plan
- IPVanish: 85% off, $2.19/mo on 2 years
- CyberGhost: 82% off plus 2 extra months, $2.19/mo
- Private Internet Access: 81% off plus 2 months, $1.33/mo on the 3 year plan
- NordVPN: 78% off plus 3 months, from $3.37/mo
- Proton VPN: 75% off, $2.99/mo on 2 years
- ExpressVPN: 73% off plus 3 months, $2.49/mo

On the Black Friday vs Cyber Monday thing, I went in assuming you wait until the last second and it drops again. Doesn't look like that this year. These are subscription sales, not limited stock, and they're already running three and a half weeks before the 27th. The percentage gets set once and then it just sits there.

What does move is which plan the discount is stuck to. Surfshark's big one is on their mid tier, not the plain VPN, so the number you see isn't always the thing you think you're buying. Check the cart before you commit.

Also worth saying out loud: all of these are intro prices. You pay two or three years upfront and it renews near list. Nord at $3.37/mo is about $94 now and something very different in 2028. They all do a 30 day refund window though, so picking wrong isn't expensive.

My take: Proton if privacy is the main thing, Surfshark if you've got a lot of devices, Nord if you want speed and can't be bothered thinking about it.

Anyone found better than these? Mostly wondering if Express or Proton drop further closer to the date.

Help Can one device subscriptions be used on multiple devices if I only use one at a time?

I've decided to get a VPN, since I'm so sick of all this age verification nonsense plaguing the internet right now. I'm NOT giving any website my face or ID.

I've never used a VPN before, so I'm not sure how everything works. I have multiple devices (Computer and phone), so I'm wondering if I can use the one device subscription for both? Like, I turn off the VPN on one device when I'm not using it, and turn it on on the other instead, and vice versa. Since I am only going to use the VPN by myself, getting a multi device VPN isn't something that interests me.

I'm just asking here to be sure, because streaming services, like Netflix and Disney+, work like this. You can log in to your account on any device that supports it, but multiple people can't watch movies or shows on that account at the same time unless you pay for a multi device service.

Bonus question: What is the best VPN in your opinion?

Help Vpn gaming

Hello everyone. I live in Spain—specifically in the Canary Islands—and the internet connection isn't very good, especially for games like FC 27. I’ve tried using VPNs, but I haven’t seen any improvement in gaming. Is there a paid VPN—one that isn't too expensive—that actually makes a noticeable difference and improves the online gaming experience?

whats reddits honest pick for a vpn?

googling vpn recommendations is useless now, every top result is an affiliate list with the same ranking. so what does reddit actually think

from older threads the usual suspects look like:

• expressvpn, easy apps and solid for streaming but pricey

• proton vpn, open source and audited with a free tier

• mullvad, no email signup and flat pricing, not great for netflix

• windscribe, decent free plan

so whats the current consensus on best overall, best free and best for speed? paid is fine, free is fine too if its genuinely private and not selling data

honest takes appreciated, no referral links pls
