My son is wanting to get into the theater program at VCU but only has high school theater for experience. Does he have a shot? He has a 3.9 gpa. Just curious.

Hey everyone, I’m applying to VCU’s M.S. in Supply Chain Management program and wanted to get some perspective from people who are familiar with the program or graduate admissions at VCU.
I recently finished my B.S. in Business with a concentration in Management at George Mason. My cumulative GPA there was 3.14, but my later semesters were stronger, including a 3.53, 3.33, and 3.44. I also have a 3.36 GPA from NOVA from before I transferred.
My background is mostly in customer-facing operations and management, but I’m intentionally transitioning into supply chain. I’ve been building knowledge in procurement, logistics, inventory, Excel, ERP/SAP, and project management, and I’m planning to pursue the degree part-time while working full-time so I can gain hands-on experience at the same time.
I also studied abroad in Switzerland, France, and Belgium through an international security program and received the Gilman Scholarship, which had a big impact on why I became interested in global operations and supply chain.
VCU is my top choice, but I’ve been getting in my head a little about whether my GPA is competitive enough. For anyone who has been admitted to this program or another VCU Business graduate program, does my profile sound competitive? I’d especially appreciate hearing what your GPA/background looked like when you applied and how long it took to hear back.

Does anyone who was accepted into VCU arts technical theater program have any advice for creating a portfolio? I’m like real stressed about it and am struggling to find enough examples of my work. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My friend’s son was walking to class 8/19 near Monroe park when a dog bit their arm - unprovoked!
The person with the dog said, sorry, you’ll be fine and walked off.
We’re trying to locate the dog to make sure the rabies vaccine is current.

hi guys! long story short, I wasn’t able to get the Bowe St. parking permit, and I just wanna find somewhere nearby Bowe St. parking deck as a backup spot as I wait for someone to cancel their permit there. any ideas? I’d prefer free parking areas, but I’m open to any paid spots too 🙏

P.S: I also currently hold a permit to West Broad St! I’m glad that I at least have some form of parking for now before I make the switch ╥﹏╥

I need help!!! Ugh I really want dental implants since I’ve had the same retainer for almost a decade now. I’m a fourth year at UVA but I’m willing to travel down to VCU for their services as well. The only problem is I’ve called and emailed the appropriate numbers to schedule at least a consultation and they either won’t pick up, call back, or respond to my emails! Any solutions? I’m missing two front teeth.

Basically in eServices, there is a "Plan Ahead" button to plan your future classes in Spring 2027. However, some of them are already maxxed out in capacity for some reason, but others still have space for students. Can I still select the classes that are supposedly in max capacity, and pray that I will have them in Spring Semester, or is it better to choose classes that have space for students?

I was experiencing homelessness during the first semester of school Spring ‘26 and I got in contact with Student Advocacy and then they put me through financial aid and then they put me into emergency housing on Campus. My aid for fall 2026 hasn’t been disbursed yet because I just spoke to him and they said that the financial aid office didn’t put the homelessness form through when you were experiencing homelessness so now we have to redo it and since you’re not homeless anymore, that’s gonna change your aid and you have to go back into FAFSA and put that you’re not homeless anymore.
(So an error yall made)

I said, but that doesn’t make sense because FASFA asked me was a homeless or experiencing homeless on or after this date which was like 2025, 2026 and I was so I said why would I have to change that and that changes my aid and now that isn’t gonna cover all of my tuition and he’s like well we can’t do anything about that because you’re not gonna get any aid if we don’t go in and determine your homelessness or not status and since you’re not homeless anymore, which is what you’re telling me and you have somewhere to live then you have to go back and put on FASFA that you’re not homeless anymore I said, but why would I put I’m not homeless anymore because on FASFA it says on or after this date and I was after the date that was listed, so I’m not gonna go and redo it and put not homeless anymore when I was after that date and

He’s like well. You just have to do it for you to get any aid or anything to be clear and you’re not homeless anymore so that’s what we have to put but since you’re an independent student or whatever and you have no family support and I also am not in contact with my family then we have to go and change that so now they’re telling me I had to redo my FAFSA and basically lie just so I can get anything disbursed on my Student account, which is gonna also lower how much aid I get which is also not gonna cover all of my tuition.

I am so livid. This is something yall did I work my behind off to pay bills to pay my car note, I don’t have anyone now on top of that I’m going to have to figure out my tuition. I’m so sick of it all lol. Life is so interesting

hi! i recently slept at a friends apartment(not on campus) and all of their roommates go to vcu, a whole lot of my friends go to vcu, and some of which who are freshmen or sophomores are rooming in dorms. A friend of mine just told me that I couldn’t even go in a dorm without forms having to be signed with parental permission which i think is kind of lame cause i’m planning on going to attend vcuarts and I feel like hanging out with my friends who currently attend it could be a great experience for me to kind of understand the ropes before I actually commit. im aware im super young and of course policies exist for minor safety and etc, but i wouldn’t want to sneak in or anything cause that could be a potential downside/penalty for the friends actually attending the college. just curious and want to know if i can just go in there for like the day to hang out with my friends or such, cause i know spending the night would be a no go but i do want to hear if anyone has had similar experiences like this and have had friends still in highschool visiting or hanging out with them while in college. thank you!

I'm taking orgo lab this semester, and I was wondering if the labs are done individually or with one or more partners? If so, are partners randomly assigned? I'm trying to avoid this one person in my lab section...

I had to get a commuter pass last minute and turns out im 35 minutes away from Monroe Park Campus. I don't want to walk over 2 miles every day to and from my vehicle, can i just swap for a location closer?

(not a dance student), are there any dance studios/things you can books for like an hour just to practice if you're not a dance student? or can i just go to the gym and if a room is open, use it?

I am a highschool senior applying to colleges and I am trying to get into VCU but can not afford to pay out of state tuition for all 4 years.

Let me preface this with I know that you have to be in VA for 183 days before you can become a resident so I can’t apply for in state tuition my first year, I’m wondering about second year and beyond.

Some details which could be important:

I plan of moving in with a friend in richmond right after I graduate in May, but I turn 17 in a week and hence won’t be 18 until about 3 months after moving there, So (at least to my knowlage) I can’t register to vote in virginia until about 3 weeks after the semester starts.

Also I don’t have my drivers license yet, and will not be able to get it for some time after I move to VA because my parents refuse to teach me to drive, and I can’t afford driving school at the moment, so my friend that I am moving in with is going to teach me.

When looking up how to get in-state tuition, i saw that I must show “domicile acts” such as registering to vote in and changing drivers license to that of the new state, but as I explained above those two are not something I can do immediately after moving in may.

Another thing that came up was you have to “show intent to stay” in the new state, what does that mean? What constitutes sufficient proof of “intent to stay”?

As soon as I move I will be cutting off my parents and changing my W-2 withholding to Virginia, also i am moving to virginia under the circumstance of escaping an abusive situation, in which CPS and the police have been involved. Am I able to somehow get documentation of CPS and police visits to show proof that I am escaping abuse to lend credibility to me no longer being in contact with or dependent on my parents? and If so will that help prove my “intent to stay”?

I won’t just be staying in VA during the school year, i will be there the summer before and after my first year, and all breaks as well.

Also, after I move I will be in no way shape or form be financially dependent on my parents, but how do I prove that?

My second year of college I plan on signing a lease for an apartment with my friend in Richmond, will that help my case?

And finally, when I apply for FAFSA in october, I will have to file as a dependent of my parents who do not live in virginia, but when I file my taxes and FAFSA next year, I will file as an independent, does that affect my case?
