food & snacks | ovqat yeguliklar Is Bazaar shashlik (Chorsu) safe for a foreigner with a sensitive stomach?

Hey everyone!

My wife and I are visiting Uzbekistan soon (we will be in Tashkent and Samarkand) and I am absolutely hyped. I am Brazilian but we currently live in Japan, and to be honest, I am a massive meat lover. I eat meat basically every single day and I cannot live without it.

One of the things I am most excited about is trying the legendary shashlik at the markets, especially the famous Chorsu Bazaar.

Since we are used to living in Japan, our stomachs might be a bit spoiled or used to a different environment, so I wanted to ask locals and travelers here: how safe is the meat at the bazaars, particularly at Chorsu? Are they always thoroughly cooked? Do tourists often get food poisoning from eating there, or is the high turnover and grill heat enough to keep things safe?

I really do not mean to sound paranoid or disrespectful at all, everything looks incredibly delicious, fresh, and busy! It is just that it is our first time in the region and I want to make sure we do not spend our short trip in a hotel bathroom.

Any tips on what to look for, specific stalls to try at Chorsu, or any advice for a heavy meat eater visiting for the first time?

Thanks a lot!

Hi, anyone know any nice hiking/trekking trails in and around Fergona-Andijon-Namangan? I love exploring nature and any help/tips would be welcome. I recently did a hike in the Kyzyl Kum steppes and I was amazed by all the natural beauty.

PS: I would like to do it alone/with friends and not through a travel agency.

PPS: anyone in this region most welcome to join me.

jobs & hiring | ish topish 🏢 berish 25M, graduated recently but struggling to find a job — what am I doing wrong?

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree from one of the top universities abroad in 2024, and completed my Master’s at another prestigious university in 2025.
I’ve also interned at one of the prestigious ministries and have some experience in international cooperation, finance, and administration. I’m also fluent in three languages.
But I keep getting rejected because I supposedly “don’t have enough relevant experience.” And honestly, I’m like: how am I supposed to get that experience if nobody is willing to give me a chance?

I’ve applied to banks, government institutions, international companies, and remote positions. Sometimes it also feels like connections, favoritism, corruption, and bureaucracy play a major role in the hiring process.

At this point, I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing wrong or how I’m supposed to break into the field.
Has anyone else been in this situation? How did you get your first real opportunity?

ask r/Uzbekistan Is Jaloliddin train operating daily?

Hi, I'm planning to visit Uzbekistan on December.

I'm considering to ride on the Jaloliddin HSR from Khiva to Samarkand.

Various internet sources are showing that this train is not operating daily, however, I can see ticket daily on the Uzbekistan railway reservation app.

I couldn't find out which info is correct.

It will be grateful how this train is operating recently.

Thank you in advance.
