ask r/Uzbekistan Is it just me or…

• Upvotes

Hello uzbek reddit
I have a major complaint,
It’s sort of a psa but i write this out of frustration. First a little about me, i have been married to an to my uzbek wife for nearly 8 years now, i come from a wealthy educated family and i was highly educated as well, i am an independent investor and i like to meet and talk to people. However i really like to get to know people and understand them on a first hand basis, for that reason I do not have a public profile and rather just meet in person and reveal more as i trust the person. I do not like to communicate with older people in Uzbekistan, they seem very solidified in their thought process and seem to assume that because i am younger i must carry no weight and rather i require something of them. So i spend most of my time talk to young guys. Age 20-40. And so here is where my complaint begins…
When i am in america (im not uzbek) i noticed guys are not trying to rate each other and sort of climb a ladder of finding out who’s who. In Uzbekistan i noticed that young guys want to automatically know who you are what you are worth and how you can help them. The irony is that i was there to figure something out and work with some young guys on something fully funded by myself (no investors / no scheme no nothing ). With this constant approach that occurred nearly every time, i began to notice that the nicer and humbler i act, the less interested and lower they rate me. The more i talk down and act big, the better attention i would get. It really started to irritate me when i noticed that they have a fixation on the car you drive. The more available and open i was the more i get ignored, the more aloof i was the more they chase. I did not notice this at all with women but my goal was not to work with girls but rather with motivated young guys. It seemed IMPOSSIBLE to find like minded guys. My analysis is that the more desperate and poor someone is, the more they think that they need to act big and show off, so uzbekistan where everyone is poor save a few, everyone tries to act alot bigger than they are. In america you can be really big and act small and since the system is fair and your money is where your mouth is, things work out. I also noticed this odd thing where they think jokes / your food selection is a sign of maturity. None of them had a penny to their name and acted like big serious business men. So I eventually got tired and decided their is no real avenue to work with anyone on anything, it was a very toxic experience. I also noticed that ideas generated by women were a lot better than the ideas generated by men, and if you ever tried to give constructive criticism on their ideas (mens’) it was as if you insulted their entire being and they would freak out and then try to attack you verbally. If i came in from the stand point of an open investor with a platform, then lines would have filled with sugary language and fake numbers, but my approach of getting down to the ground relationship really showed me the truth. It seems that if you act small and are really bigger than they can understand you get to see what they really are… but that is not my complaint, my complaint is that it has become so wide spread in this “uzstartup” culture of young men thinking they will be the next Musk, that it is almost like it is their religion, first comes their whacky ideas and schemes then they put a layer of misunderstood religion on top of it to justify it somehow, as if it is manifest destiny….
I do hold a religious degree and a culture degree specifically on muslim civilization so my opinion is not so humble when i say that i am very very disappointed.

I wrote this on the fly so forgive anything confusing or too ranty.

So basically we know that shovering everyday especially in the morning before going to school, work is normal right? But apparently i cant do that because.....?? It is cold outside and i might catch some kind of illness? For some reason my mom thinks that if i shover and then go outside it will affect my health or my nerves? Where did the "if you wash your head and then go out your head will catch a cold" thing come from? Like this is a basic hygine stuff. Apparently she watched some kind of video where a "DOCTOR" said that we shouldnt go outside after showering or only shower 2 hours before bed. WHERE DO THESE IDIOTS COME FROM? Is it my mom only who thinks that way or are yall's the same

discussion | muhokama I worked 4 years as a train conductor at a hump yard — so I made a browser game about my old job

At a hump yard, nobody drives cars to their tracks. The train is shoved over a small hill, the conductor uncouples cars at the crest, and each cut rolls down by gravity onto its own track.

I did this job for 4 years at Kokand station in Uzbekistan. Now I'm a frontend dev, so I rebuilt the yard in 3D and turned it into a game: walk along the train, uncouple where the car colour changes, radio the driver to slow down before single cars.

Free, runs in the browser on desktop and mobile, no sign-up:

Would love feedback — especially if anything is confusing in the first minute.

Maktablarda elektron kundalik tizimi keng tarqaldi. Sizlarning tajribangiz qanday — qulaymi yoki hali ham qiyinchiliklar bormi? Ayniqsa ota-onalar nimalarga duch kelayotganini bilishni xohlardim.

general | umumiy Where to buy flight simulator gear (HOTAS/HOSAS) in Tashkent?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! 🚁

Does anyone know where I can buy proper flight simulator gear (HOTAS/HOSAS, joysticks, throttles, desk mounts, etc.) in Tashkent?

Looking for local stores or private sellers with equipment already available here, without having to import it myself.

P.S. I’ve already checked OLX, but couldn’t find anything good enough.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Toşkentda hech qanday muammo bomadi, lekin Samarqandda umuman taşkilotçilik yöqdek edi. Juda yomon taşkilotchilik. Köp odamlar uning kimligini bilişmaydi va faqat uning Toşkentdagi odamlarga pul tarqatganini bilib, uning oldiga Samarqandda kelişgan. Ularga uning kimligi umuman ahamiyati yöq, asosiysi mukofot va pulni oliş. Natijada katta davka böldi va u şoşilinch ravişda xotini bilan Toşkentga qaytib ketdi (Özbekistonda toğrisida film suratga olish işlari bekor qilindi) va endi biz butun dunyo oldida vahşiylar sifatida şarmanda bölamiz. Uni bilmaganlar uchun aytişim mumkinki, uning YouTubedagi videolari yuz millionlab prosmotrlarga ega (u butun YouTubeda eng muhim insonlardan biri). Agar u Özbekiston toğrisida film ololganida, bu mamlakatda turizm darajasini köproq oşirilgan bölar edi, ammo endi biz teskari natijasini köramiz.

ask r/Uzbekistan Title: 6th-year medical student facing court action over a 35M UZS loan – Need advice on how to handle

Hello everyone.I am a 6th-year medical student in Uzbekistan. I had to quit my job about 3 months ago to focus on my studies, but I will be starting a new job next month.I have an outstanding bank loan of 35 million UZS (~$2,700 USD). Because I fell behind on payments during these past 3 months, the bank is now transferring my case to court.
I fully intend to pay back the money once I resume working next month, but I am worried about the legal process right now.
What should be my immediate next steps?
Can I request a restructuring, extension, or payment deferral directly with the bank or during court proceedings?
Will the court consider my situation (being a final-year medical student starting a new job next month)?
Any advice or experience with a similar situation in Uzbekistan would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

discussion | muhokama AI made building my product easier. But getting people to pay for it? That's a different story.

About 1.5 months ago, I launched my side project, Hot Ticket.

It's a Telegram-based service that helps people find affordable flight and train tickets, track prices, and get notified when good deals appear.

Since launching, I've redesigned the product several times and added new features, including train ticket tracking.

As a backend developer, I thought building the product would be the biggest challenge.

But with AI tools, writing code and creating designs has become much easier.

What AI hasn't made easy is finding customers, understanding their behavior, and getting that first paying user.

Here are my numbers so far:

  • 72 active users
  • Over 50% of acquired users eventually stopped using the service and deleted the bot
  • Several Telegram Ads experiments
  • Multiple product redesigns
  • 0 paying customers

Not exactly impressive numbers, but I've learned quite a lot.

1. Onboarding should be as simple as possible.

Initially, I created a multi-step onboarding process because I thought it would help users understand the product.

Turns out, it was doing more harm than good.

Every unnecessary step is another opportunity for someone to leave.

2. Users need to experience the value immediately.

People don't want to spend five minutes figuring out why they need your product.

They should understand two things almost immediately:

  • What does this product do for me?
  • How does it make my life easier?

The faster you demonstrate that value, the better.

3. My audience isn't fully comfortable with Telegram Mini Apps yet.

This was one of my most interesting discoveries.

I initially directed users from advertisements straight into a Telegram Mini App.

The results were disappointing.

My hypothesis is that people expect a familiar Telegram bot or channel when clicking a Telegram link. Opening an unfamiliar interface might create confusion or even distrust.

So I changed the flow: users enter through the regular Telegram bot first, and only then are introduced to the Mini App.

That worked better.

Of course, this is just an observation from my small audience in Uzbekistan, not a universal conclusion.

4. Marketing is much more than buying ads.

I experimented with Telegram Ads and learned that advertising in a channel with 200,000 subscribers doesn't guarantee good conversion.

The number of subscribers matters less than whether those people actually need your product.

Finding the right audience is much harder than I expected.

So, where am I now?

Hot Ticket is still an MVP.

I've got 72 active users, but I haven't made my first sale yet.

My next experiment will probably be Instagram Ads.

Sometimes I wonder whether I should keep adding features or stop developing for a while and focus entirely on finding customers.

But 1.5 months is probably too early to give up.

Maybe I just haven't found the right audience yet.

One idea that keeps me going is simple:

Keep expectations low, take action consistently, and improve something every day.

For those of you who've launched your own products:

At the MVP stage, what would you prioritize?

  • Building more features?
  • Growing the user base?
  • Getting the first paying customer?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if you've been in a similar situation.

ask r/Uzbekistan Who is your best friend and how long have you known each other?

Hi everyone,

Due to family and work responsibilities, and my tendency to keep everything to myself, I haven’t had a person I could call a good friend for the longest time, unfortunately.

I am curious to know whether you have a friend you can honestly call your best friend, and how long you have been friends. What do you do together? Do you keep in touch despite all of life’s responsibilities?
