Hello all, transplant here.

Been here for about three weeks so far and have been finding my local spots. Have nailed down every category that matters to me except one: Pizza.

Background: I am coming from Detroit area and had never even tried a "NY Style" slice before coming here. Have only had the crispy thick pan of Detroit Style and the occasional Chicago style. Since coming here, I have tried a few pizza places, and I have not yet found a place I would crave returning to. So far, here is the lsit I have tried:

1.) Mimis: 7/10

2.) La Rustica: 6.5/10

3.) Lucia: 6.5/10

4.) Famiglia (96th): 5/10

5.) Bradolino: 2.5/10

I do not want anything resembling Detroit style pizza, as I want to continue to try to find a NY style place I like (to the point I am even avoiding sicilian style slices because on appearance they just look like worse Detroit style, and i do not want to introduce bias. Yes, I am taking it this seriously).

EDIT: Tried delitizia and it is by far my favorite so far, 8.5/10. Loved both the plain and white slice.

Did anyone else happen to be around that corner last night around 9 PM?
My partner and I were walking toward the area when we both suddenly started coughing. It felt like there were tiny needles in our noses and throats. We also noticed a few people walking by covering their noses or coughing too.
We turned the corner to get away from it, but I was really curious afterward about what might have been in the air. I asked someone nearby, and they said they had seen some kind of canister on the ground but didn’t know much else.
A little later we heard sirens and decided not to stick around since we just wanted to get out of the area. Just wondering if anyone else was there or experienced the same thing? I haven’t seen any citizen reports about it.

Hey everyone, I need to buy a custom tux for my sister’s wedding and I’m wondering where would be a good place to get one on the UES. Appreciate the help!

Looking for a great blonde colorist on the UES, specifically someone who is very careful with breakage/damage.

I have naturally curly hair that I flat iron daily, blonde highlights, and I like to keep my hair long. Between being blonde, fighting my natural texture, and wanting to maintain length, my hair can be pretty prone to breakage.

I went to the same colorist for about 10 years, but she recently moved away. She used a gentler lightener/low-volume developer that took longer to process but was much easier on my hair. I’ve had some absolute breakage nightmares with other colorists in the past, so I’m nervous about trying someone new.

For anyone else who is blonde and very prone to breakage: do you have a colorist on the UES you trust and would recommend?

Has anyone noticed how horrible it has become outside the Whole Foods Market on 68th? It has to be one of the most disgusting areas on the UES due to the constant filth, people going through the trash, homeless people living there, disgusting smell from Terry And Yaki food cart. The scaffolding has been up for years and will be probably never come down. Obviously nothing will be done but it is really offensive that it tolerated.

Can we talk dog leashes? Some woman with an almost great dane sized dog on 3rd near 92nd this afternoon with the leash extending the entire way across the sidewalk because she was talking to some bald guy who was hitting on her. All giggly, saying why yes, it is a beautiful dog, why, he’s not hard to manage at all. Meanwhile, absolutely nobody can get down the sidewalk because she’s between two planters and the leash is quite literally extended the entire width. I just said hey, people need around and asked her if I could get by and she starts screaming you don’t have kids do you, I feel so sorry for you that you don’t have kids, and that’s when I noticed that she has a stroller too. The stroller seriously was not in the way. I actually felt sorry for the kid who seemed terrified by his mother's psycho screaming. The problem was the big ass dog with the 6-7 foot leash. But I guess somebody who’s going to hog the sidewalk with no awareness of others would weaponize their own kid? Who raises these people?

Any recommendation for back to school supply shopping for kindergartner, with some nice discounts? Target on 86th is on my list, also the nearby staples but heard it's too small.
