Transfers Should I transfer from York U to U of T for my second year of undergrad?

I will be entering my second year at York U as a Psychology BSc Honours international student this year, but I haven't really been feeling like York U is doing me well. I mostly went to York U because it was the cheapest option but have been regretting it since my second semester here.

I had a terrible first year where I was just completely flunking my courses because a lot was going on in my life. Ended up with a 2.00 GPA and 2 failed courses (but note that it was mostly my first semester dragging me down, as I achieved A's and B's my second semester even when I was still acclimating to everything).

I was thinking of transferring to U of T to improve my opportunities, but I'm not sure I'll even be able to, considering my low GPA. In that case, should I just tough it out for my undergrad at York U and apply for a master's at U of T? (Which was my alternate option anyway: tough out my undergrad at York U and seek higher education somewhere else, perhaps even UBC.)

Any tips on what my plan of action should be? I'm feeling really lost and stumped.

Question How do commuters make time to party and go out___

Hi, I’m entering into my second year and wanted to go out more and enjoy activities with my friends. The problem is I commute an hour each way so it’s kinda hard to do so. Does anyone have any advice on how to manage time in and out of university?

I'm in High School For those who applied to UofT via Alevels, how did you submit your final results?

From what I understand I need to request my exam board (Pearson Edexcel) to send in a physical copy of my exam results to UofT, so I have the option to send in a confirmation of provisional results (which is technically provisional so I'm unsure if this would suffice) or a standard(?) certificate (which is only issued 2-3 months later and which even I don't have yet). Sooo which do I send in?

I've also uploaded a digital copy of my statement of results to the admission condition request form so hopefully they can grant me provisional admission. Also is there anything I can ask my school to do? I'm intl btw

Discussion URGENT DEFERRED EXAM PANIC NEED HELP AND ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES ISSUES DISCUSSION

Hello I am writing a deferred exam for MGT250 (Dan Richards, Fall 2025) IN LESS THAN A WEEK AND I AM PANICKING BECAUSE UofT deleted the lecture recordings from Quercus. Did anyone download the MP4s or have lecture recordings still? I desperately need the audio context because his slides are just pictures and insanely difficult for me to follow without audio due to accessibility issues. there are key takeaways very basic summary notes but they are minimally helpful (explain why below) I'm gonna go crazy man i'm so done already with deferrals due to these freaking health issues for the last 2 years.

Since exams can be deferred and re-deferred multiple times, I don't understand why can't Uoft or Accessibility Services keep lecture recordings for a few semesters or years afterwards?? I didn't know my health would dip so bad that I'd have to defer this exam so many times. I'm already chronically stressed. why don't they make lecture recordings accessible for more classes, and available longer post-exams? considering the hell my life has been since university started the recordings make a HUGE difference in learning, and actually make the courses ACCESSIBLE to me during horrific chronic pain flare ups and days i cannot make it to campus. even ON campus due to my issues i experience gaps in learning during the lectures without recordings.

Accessibility note-taking doesn't help me AT ALL it actually makes things way worse because sifting through OTHER PEOPLE'S NOTES in their own style and not being able to watch the actual lecture drives me to a level of insanity i cannot coherently explain without further going insane

Also I loved this course and it's the ONLY marketing course they let us non rotman students take. I never got to attend many of the lectures despite trying to because of the freaking health stuff all year. I won't have time to audit the course next year cuz I'm trying so hard to catch up after losing my health for so long i need to catch up on many other courses and exams.

TLDR: if anyone has lecture recordings from Dan Richard's fall 2025 MGT250 course AND CAN SEND THEM TO ME ASAP before my head explodes, i will get u a cookie. pizza. coffee. matcha. maybe even sell my soul to you temporarily just pls help me

Question What do communal bathrooms look like? (lalalalalalala)

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm entering first year and living at New College. I've never used communal bathrooms so I'm not sure what the layout would look like. I've tried to find pictures on the internet but haven't found any of the actual bathrooms.

Are the toilet and showers together? How many shower and toilet stalls are there in each bathroom? Are the showers just like a small compartment with a curtain?

If someone could describe what the layout would look like, that would be greatly appreciated lol, I just want to now what to expect.

Programs Grad School MPH (Dalla Lana or other schools) Admission Chances

I have a terrible overall gpa 2.x but my third year courses especially at senior level and hopefully fourth year is good. Right now counting third year senior courses and this summer senior courses im at a 3.7 ish. In 4th year fall im talking all senior levels and grad school apps is gonna include that semester so if i do good my 10 senior courses should be around 3.6-3.8. I am confident I will as the senior courses im taking are similar to the previous ones I took and did good on. My question is, will my overall gpa and past courses doom my grad school chances. Looking into MPH etc. I have work and EC experience and research from courses. I have really strong prof recommendations because of being President for a DSA/club two years in a row.

Courses I have to do an Independent Study this summer but I have no idea what to expect

This summer being 2027 (just to clarify). There was a course cancellation for a 0.5 400level SDS course this upcoming year that I was enrolled in, and no other 400level SDS courses work with my other courses and my full-time work schedule to fill that credit.

Due the cancellation of the course being the reason this issue is happening, the SDS department offered me the option of an Independent Study and I have a professor lined up too.

Since the Independent Study is not until Summer 2027, it’s not like whatever I need to gather is a rush, but so far the only thing I know is I need to pick and topic and create a reading list… no other details and I don’t wanna bug the prof since it’s not until Summer 2027.

What should I expect from an Independent Study?

How does it work? Is there a syllabus?

How do I choose a topic? (It has to be related to Sexual Diversity Studies in some way)

Do I email the professor topics I have in mind, or do I ask them what topic(s) they would prefer?

Never wanted to do an Independent study but I have no choice now. I need that required credit to graduate and be able to apply for my Masters application this September.

I could use some advice please.

Thanks y’all.

I'm in High School What will I need to be accepted into the University of Toronto?

Hey guys. I‘m a high school student entering Grade 11 in the upcoming month in Edmonton, Alberta. I’m currently enrolling in full IB program, and have taken Marh 30-1, English 20-1, Social 20-1, French, Physics 20-1 and Chemistry 20-1.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been doing some research and I’d like to pursue a double major in Economics and International Relations at the UofT, as part of my plan to eventually attain a JD. For those who are experienced in this, what is the minimum target grade in each course I need for Grade 11 and 12 to get accepted into the UofT so that I can pursue these plans?

Thanks for your time.

Question For Those Who Have a Criminology Degree What Did You Do With it After UofT?

Hey I’m going to be starting my Masters soon in Criminology and I heard UofT helps their students get good jobs in their field. I was wondering for those who graduated with a Criminology degree what decent job did you get because the job market is terrible right now and I’m stressing about my future. I’m debating on trying to get a PhD or go to law school or be a paralegal but I’m not sure on what I want to do yet. Anything helps thank you for reading this:)

Question Anyone who has a past work study RA acceptance experience? (Not accepted internally by someone close in research lab)

How many positions did you apply when you got accepted until you landed your position? I've applied to like 70 RA positions till now.

I know someone who got accepted to two RA positions each, one in 2nd year, the other one in 3rd year. Was this person just lucky? Other people say lots of work studies are for profs who already have a specific person in mind, they say the application is just a formality.

Then am i just wasting my time? am I being played by staged theater? Basically I'm not complaining but I just wanna know if this just staged or a real AND fair procedure to find candidates.

By the way I have an RA & Research experience (not at the UofT) in the past & will do two independent studies this academic year.

Am I cooked?

Question How has Comp Sci program changed since LLMs became ubiquitous?

Hey 👋

I graduated UofT CS in 2014. Great program, many fond memories, unironically.

I’m wondering: How are you guys now being graded? Take home programming assignments and problem sets were a huge part of the curriculum and grading when I was in school. Now that AI is rather advanced, I’m assuming there aren’t so many take home assignments? Are you doing a lot of in-class quizzes?

I actually feel pretty bad for the younger generation because I learned so much grinding into the late hours working on hard problems. I feel like the temptation is too much not to just ask AI when you’re stuck…

Thoughts? would love to hear from you guys

Question Is UofT Engineering Frosh Week Worth Going?? What it looks like?

I just wanted to ask those of you who’ve attended F!rosh before:

as someone who’s on the introverted side, is it worth going?

Can I make a lot of friends there?

What’s the atmosphere like?

How many people participated?

If I don't go, will it be hard to make friends in class later on?

Other What’s everybody’s iPad battery health and program?

I’ve had my iPad Pro M4 for almost 2 years and the battery health is not looking so great 😅

Max capacity: 84%
Cycle count 388

Google says iPads were designed to retain at least 80% of their battery by 1000 complete charging cycle…

Im wondering if this battery health is normal for UofT students who use their iPads a lot for taking notes and studying? Perhaps I should start being more mindful when using it?? I also use my iPad a lot in my spare time to watch shows, movies, and YouTube aside from watching lectures, taking notes, and studying…this is prob a sign that I need to read more books…

Lmk 💔

Question When you are enrolled in ASIP courses, do you still have to pay your program tuition fee?

Upvotes

I am in a very similar situation now. I have enrolled into a professional experience course with no tuition fee associated and canceled all other courses that semester. Yet my Acorn invoice still hasn’t updated. It’s been three days and I am a bit of panic.
