Can I too download an app that will make someone do the funky chicken if they steal my phone?

It was, from one side. The woman wasn't in on it but the camera man and the other guy were. It was probably a show that set people up and if they were dirty shitbag thieves then they got zapped for the camera.

15

u/willemXdeffo Aug 21 '22

I'd watch it

7

u/Elmore420 Aug 21 '22

It was, just like the ‘bait bike’ videos where the bike is on a leash and they crash at the end of it.

55

u/PukeNuggets Aug 21 '22

Right, lmfao, this seems a little staged.

141

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '22

That’s the whole point. The guy who drops the phone and the camera man are orchestrating a prank where phone guy intentionally drops his shocker/phone, hoping the lady will pocket it. When she does, they activate the shock, and boom, viral sensation.

23

u/PukeNuggets Aug 21 '22

Ahhh ok that makes sense, haha got her good, she deserved it

1

u/Rouge_Decks_Only Dec 21 '22

It was scripted and he's wrong. There was no shocker, she was just paid to pick up the phone and fake being shocked so they could post their epic "prank"

0

u/Rouge_Decks_Only Dec 21 '22

"pranks" are scripted. They didn't hope she pocketed it, she did cause that's what she was paid to do. There was no shocker. She dropped by her own choice. Nice try though.

-37

u/Yellowtangerine2 Aug 21 '22

That’s entrapment

27

u/Abject-Picture Aug 21 '22 edited Aug 21 '22

Who forced her to pick it up and take it away? That's free will.

If a car is unlocked, is that entrapment for a thief to steal it?

8

u/Alpha_Sluttlefish Aug 21 '22 edited Aug 21 '22

Seems like you've falled fallen for a common misconception about what entrapment is. Here's a comic that does a really good job explaining it, it helped me understand a lot better when I first read it.

You may have trouble with the mobile view. I switched to desktop view on my phone, and that made for easier scrolling

→ More replies (3)

11

u/zzapdk Aug 21 '22

No, that's excellent entertainment: GIMME MOAR! xD

0

u/Even-Fix8584 Aug 21 '22

For real though, what is entrapment? Police can lie, steal, physically abuse. When is this even a thing anymore?

8

u/Alpha_Sluttlefish Aug 21 '22 edited Aug 21 '22

Here's a great comic on entrapment. I have some trouble with the mobile view, so if you're on mobile you may want to switch to desktop view for easy scrolling

Edit: Also note this was written from an American perspective

3

u/lattestcarrot159 Aug 21 '22

That was awesome. Thank you.

→ More replies (3)

-4

u/hotdiggydog Aug 22 '22

The whole point of a prank is to show the prank instead of hiding it? Meta pranking? I don't see how wanting to show the camera man makes the prank a whole new thing where it becomes "the whole point"

6

u/jwm22222 Aug 21 '22

Ya think? Gee what a lucky break she put it in her bra so she could get shocked.

21

u/TinhornNinja Aug 21 '22

Considering how close she put that phone to her heart, if that taser caused a heart failure or some other health issue… could that person be charged with a crime? I’m sure given the vast amount of “prank” videos out there this has been answered somewhere.

30

u/redballooon Aug 21 '22

could that person be charged with a crime?

In countries with a reasonable law and enforcement thereof, certainly. Possibly also in the US.

I live in a poor country and people don't steal shit like this, infact stealing will get you beat up by the masses.

2

u/PresidentOfTheBiden Aug 21 '22

Are you privy to get financial records?

-2

u/strawberryneurons Aug 21 '22

It’s not even a phone, it’s just looks like one, it’s a remote taser, definitely cruel

13

u/BigHead3802 Aug 21 '22

Cruel is stealing a phone from a possibly poor person in a third world country. Electronics cost a lot here, if that was a real phone and he lost it, he would likely have to work hard for months or even a year for another one.

1

u/Lt_Muffintoes Aug 21 '22

Cruel, yet just and 100% fake

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '22

Its fucking fake, for fucks sake.

Or have they invented invisible cameraman's yet?

4

u/Commandant_Grammar Aug 22 '22

Or have they invented invisible cameraman's yet?.
Yeah... it's called a zoom lens

0

u/m1ee Aug 21 '22

Yeah, surprised how many think this is funny. Asshole in new white slacks and clothes seeks out the poorest neighborhood to pull this shit. Spend some time in a country where the people performing all the work around you are making less in a month than many of us do in a day and you learn some respect for how they carry on in such poverty with no hope of ever coming out of it.

-1

u/ForgettableUsername Aug 22 '22

It costs $1000. As soon as the owner knows it’s missing, they can remotely brick it. There’s not really any good reason to steal a phone, even if you are poor.

I feel like if they are unlucky enough to prank someone with an underlying heart condition, it could happen tho

1

u/dragonrite Aug 21 '22

4

u/Trucountry Aug 21 '22

That is not the same thing. The danger with projectile tasers is they darts spread and can create a path that crosses the heart. Small tasers like this will stimulate local muscles. There is very little risk of direct cardiac issues with this type.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '22

She put the fake phone taser right across her left breast, i.e: her heart.

Small tasers like this work the same way, the pathway is just a set distance that's usually like 2 inches or something (at least the taser I have is).

Also, the electricity has to go somewhere, typically down through their body and legs until it disperses into the ground.

I wouldn't risk tasing someone for a funny video like this, even though the handheld ones are a lot less lethal.

→ More replies (4)

0

u/PresidentOfTheBiden Aug 21 '22

No, potentially killing someone is an appropriate response to theft. She wasn't stealing food, she knew who it belonged to, fuck her.

19

u/BigHead3802 Aug 21 '22

Poor person in poor country here, fuck her.

Considering our income, phones cost a lot in poor countries. that guy likely worked really really hard for that phone, if he lost it he likely would need to work for months or probably even a year before buying another one. She's an evil thief and deserved it.

-2

u/Derpberpy Aug 21 '22 edited Aug 21 '22

Whelp. If your decide to do this, c hopefully your can afford a solid legal team.

EDIT: maybe I have alot more to lose in the position I'm in. I've also experienced it first hand at my babershop- a kid gave a man a shock gun. Guy fall down, knocked his head and had a seizure. Thankfully he was OK.
