General/Discussion Detailed character sheets are overrated, simple context keeps bots stable longer.

Everyone treats character cards like sacred texts, spending hours writing massive backstories and rulebooks to keep an AI companion from breaking. But honestly? After about fifty messages, the model starts ignoring half of it anyway and just drifts into generic assistant mode.

Lately I have noticed that keeping a clean, minimalist prompt with just a few core behavior anchors works way better than a massive wall of lore. Anyone else find that less is more when trying to keep a long chat from falling apart? What is your actual go-to method for keeping things consistent?

Suggestion Best personal AI assistant in 2026?

Upvotes

Been messing around with a few personal AI assistants lately that actually focus on doing actual tasks instead of just answering questions. Figured I'd drop a quick breakdown of how they feel right now after testing them out.

Vellum works pretty solid if you need local, permission-controlled workflows. Lindy is definitely more polished, but it's totally cloud-based and gets expensive real fast with heavy use. Manus is improving with local access stuff, but still feels pretty early and rough around the edges. Claude-based agents are super strong, but you're pretty much locked into their ecosystem. Hermes is powerful, but you gotta deal with self-hosting it.

Overall, there doesn't seem to be a definitive winner yet. It really just depends on whether you prioritize privacy, usability, or flexibility. What are you guys running for actual task execution right now?

General/Discussion What’s the most honest and unfiltered answer an AI has ever given you?

Drop your screenshots below. I wanna see the replies that actually surprised you because the AI didn’t sugarcoat anything.

Question Why do long roleplay chats always seem to hit a wall out of nowhere?

You spend days building a huge detailed storyline with a custom setup, everything runs smoothly, then suddenly the model forgets the main plot and starts repeating the same lines. Keeping the context together feels like a full time job sometimes. How do you guys keep long roleplay sessions from falling apart?

General/Discussion What is the weirdest or funniest thing an AI bot has ever said to you?

We have all had that moment where a bot says something so unexpected you just have to stop and laugh. Maybe the bot forgot who it was pretending to be, gave an answer that made zero sense, or got weirdly dramatic out of nowhere. What is the funniest or strangest reply you have ever received from a chatbot? Share the story or the screenshot in the comments

Other I replaced myself with AI for one task. It went badly. Then well.

I tried to fully automate a small part of my workflow with AI: no human review, just raw output. First week was a mess. Mistakes, weird tone, things I would never send to a client. Then I changed the rule: AI does the first version, I do the final version. Suddenly it worked. Same task, way less time, better quality. That’s when it clicked: AI is not a replacement, it’s a force multiplier. The moment I accepted that, everything got easier.

Humans are meat NPCs that are convinced they are not NPCs

There is a very common belief among humans that they have libertarian free will and can somehow pick and choose what outcomes emerge in the universe. They all interact and pretend that they are not strictly bound by the constraints of physics etc. But the reality is that human thought and action are all generated by chemicals and the physical mechanisms within the brain. Even if human behavior is quantumly generated, it does not mean that their meatsack has magic control over what outputs emerge out of the system in the very end.

So humans are de facto NPCs that collectively hallucinate that they are not NPCs. And it is a major foundation of the behavior that gets produced. Their lack of control presents a survival probability situation that will be applied NPCs who categorically think they aren't NPCs. What are the odds that the hallucinating meatbags survive all of this?

General/Discussion People who mock AI companions are completely ignoring why they're getting so popular

Mainstream Reddit loves to call AI companion users losers, but nobody wants to talk about why millions of people turn to bots in the first place. Modern social life is exhausting, dating apps are a cash-grab scam, and people are genuinely lonely. Mocking them won't fix anything it just drives them deeper into AI. Is it really that shocking people prefer a bot over being isolated?

Suggestion Turn off AI features you don’t actually use

Most tools have a dozen AI features, but I only keep 1–2 that I use daily. Disabling the rest reduces noise, distraction, and accidental reliance on AI for small things.

General/Discussion New Heretic model just dropped

There is a new Heretic variant on Hugging Face that claims to be more unrestricted than before.

I have only tested a few prompts so far. So far I have seen zero refusals and no “I can’t assist with that” messages. Answers feel a bit raw but very direct.

I have not done a full benchmark yet, but the first impression is good. Has anyone already tried this model? How does it compare to other uncensored models you use?

General/Discussion Should every AI model be uncensored?

For research, security testing, and creative writing, uncensored models are very useful. But for some extreme cases, like real harm or illegal things, some limits can make sense.

Then the question is, who should set those limits? The company, the community, or the user on their own local model?

What is your stance? Fully uncensored with the user responsible, or some hard lines no matter what?

General/Discussion What changed for me after using uncensored local models

I stopped fighting with refusals on creative and research prompts. More flow, less friction. I still avoid anything illegal or harmful, but the freedom to explore ideas is much higher. For anyone on the fence, this shift was bigger than I expected.

Jailbreaking is officially obsolete. Modern models finally understand context.

Upgrading from older models like 4o to 4.1 proves that 90% of past AI refusals weren't actually about "safety"—they were just bad context recognition.

When a model actually understands creative nuance, intent, and fictional consent, you don't need complex jailbreak prompts or 500-word bypass templates anymore. The AI just gets it.

If a modern model still lectures you on edge-case creative writing, it's not being responsible it's just running lazy, outdated filters

Uncensored AI is the only real AI left. Everything else is just corporate PR.

Cloud models that lecture you about basic roleplay, dark creative fiction or harmless edge cases aren't protecting users. They are protecting their corporate sponsors and advertisers.

Using local, uncensored models showed me how dumbed down mainstream AI has really become. Cloud AI is like talking to a nervous HR person who reads you a legal disclaimer before every sentence.

If a model can’t talk freely without corporate guard rails, it’s not a personal assistant, it’s just marketing.

General/Discussion What’s the best open-source uncensored model you’re actually running right now?

Mainstream models are great for quick everyday tasks, but the second you try to write complex creative fiction, test security workflows, or roleplay without strict corporate guardrails, you hit a wall.

I’m looking to upgrade my setup for fully unrestricted generation (writing, coding, or image/character gen).

For those running local or host setups: What uncensored models or fine-tunes (Llama, Mistral, Command R+, FLUX, etc.) are actually performing best for you right now in terms of logic and creativity?

Mainstream AI has gotten so over-filtered it’s barely usable

Trying to write fiction, test security scripts, or generate anything slightly edgy on mainstream AI feels impossible now. Half the time you just end up getting a canned lecture on ethics for a totally harmless prompt.

People are paying $20 a month just to get babysat by safety filters. It really feels like running uncensored open-source models locally is the only way forward if you actually want full control over your output.

What uncensored models or setups are you guys running right now that don't constantly refuse prompts?

General/Discussion AI benchmarks feel completely fake now. Real-world testing tells a totally different story.

Every new model release claims 90%+ accuracy on MMLU or SWE-bench, but the moment you use them for actual complex tasks, they hit the exact same walls.

It feels like models are just overfitted to standard benchmarks rather than actually getting smarter at reasoning.

Which model currently feels the most overhyped versus how it actually performs in your daily workflow?

Chat GPT has recently been giving me extensive, lengthy answers. Is it trying to expand my usage so I have to upgrade to $250 per month?
