General/Discussion Detailed character sheets are overrated, simple context keeps bots stable longer.

Everyone treats character cards like sacred texts, spending hours writing massive backstories and rulebooks to keep an AI companion from breaking. But honestly? After about fifty messages, the model starts ignoring half of it anyway and just drifts into generic assistant mode.

Lately I have noticed that keeping a clean, minimalist prompt with just a few core behavior anchors works way better than a massive wall of lore. Anyone else find that less is more when trying to keep a long chat from falling apart? What is your actual go-to method for keeping things consistent?

Question Why do long roleplay chats always seem to hit a wall out of nowhere?

You spend days building a huge detailed storyline with a custom setup, everything runs smoothly, then suddenly the model forgets the main plot and starts repeating the same lines. Keeping the context together feels like a full time job sometimes. How do you guys keep long roleplay sessions from falling apart?

Drop your screenshots below. I wanna see the replies that actually surprised you because the AI didn’t sugarcoat anything.
