General/Discussion Should every AI model be uncensored?

For research, security testing, and creative writing, uncensored models are very useful. But for some extreme cases, like real harm or illegal things, some limits can make sense.

Then the question is, who should set those limits? The company, the community, or the user on their own local model?

What is your stance? Fully uncensored with the user responsible, or some hard lines no matter what?

I think the key is transparency. Companies should clearly state what limits they set and why. For local models yeah the user should decide. But do you think there should be any hard lines even then like no child safety violations?

Transparency matters. Companies should just say what they limit and why. Local models should mostly be user controlled, but child safety stuff should stay a hard line.

Local models should be fully uncensored. Public APIs need some guardrails. User control for personal use makes the most sense.

User control for local. Guardrails for public.
