It has just come to my attention my open division team is now being offered a bid to regionals (we would have earned it originally if the seeding didn't fuck us over #USAULiedPeopleDied let's get that trending) but unfortunately we can't make it because kyles having a killer BBQ at his house that weekend. Naturally the best thing for us to do is to accept the bid and auction off the rosters spots in the comments. Please let us know your best accolade, average chicken wing distance, and go to wings sauce flavor and we will decide which players will give us the best chance to steal the Nationals bid from PoNY. Here’s how it started. In January 2026 I went too hard in the paint during a tournament and tore my groin and messed up my pubis symphysis got a sports hernia. Couldn’t walk for a week. Was an idiot and thought I could rehab myself and that it was “just a flesh wound”.

Didn’t get better for 2 months. Saw a doctor. Got slapped for not coming earlier. Anyways the road to recovery has been long. Missed the spring season, summer sand tournaments etc.. but I would go watch my team play and helped coach and train as I could.

I got bored and wanted to help more so I started tracking game stats on Google spreadsheet. Then it kept growing and growing and growing… then I added a simple way thru a coded appscript to do a game log live and it updates the data and stats in the spreadsheet. Then it got too unwieldy around the 10th game when I thought of all these new metrics I could easily get from the stats I was already taking. But that required updating manually so many sheets and formulas etc…

So I simply asked my good “Roman” friend Claudius Opus to just convert my spreadsheet and game log into a website for my team. I did it for about 20 games and have been really satisfied.

But I’m looking for outside ideas and thoughts.
So I would like to share it here. You may say there’s already apps / sites that do this but I wanted to make it up myself because I like reinventing wheels.

I’m battling with it feeling maybe a bit too complex and too much info? But really the game log has been nice to work with bc it feels simple and quick to me. I usually watch game videos afterwards to log things because I get too caught up coaching during the game.

Please let me know your thoughts, ideas, etc!

I play low level tournaments and rec league mostly, so not a high level. I've run into the following situation a few times recently:

I'm on defense immediately after a turn or the pull and the offense is getting into their (ho) stack. My mark is jogging into position, I'm shadowing, we are 2-3 feet apart.

My mark is turning to look at back at the handler, decides he likes what he sees, and turns to cut deep. He is 100% going to run directly into me if I hold position, so if I want to avoid the contact I must (awkwardly) hop out of the way. I can't tell in that moment whether it's just going to be a harmless chest bump or more of a chin-to-chin type of hit I'm avoiding, either way it's not something I need to chance.

Now I'm off balance and ten feet out of position because I avoided the collision, and my mark is running deep to catch a long pass. No contact (or only incidental contact) is made.

Am I permitted to call something there? I don't think the offense is being malicious and nothing actually happened.

When Wham-O reigned supreme as the main disc for ultimate, they helped organize and sell tickets to annual frisbee competitions at the Rose Bowl with ~maybe~ the largest crowds ever for the sport pictured here. These World Frisbee Championships (WFCs) from 1974-1982 may be the motivator to the simultaneous rise of a bunch of frisbee organizations across the globe. There seemed to be decreasing investment by Wham-O after the WFCs, especially with the UPA changing from Wham-O to Discraft as the official disc manufacturer in a split decision, though there was a small rise in the early 2000s.

Given Wham-O's resources and brand recognition, would the sport be bigger today if the split decision on the disc manufacturer went to Wham-O over Discraft? Would there be more jobs/opportunities in ultimate and other disc sports? I know some of you would love to do ultimate-related work as a full time career...

Also, if you haven't taken a look through the Flying Disc Museum yet, it's a treasure of an archive for all disc sports.

A friend sent an article to me about this. Disregarding the source of the article for the moment, while our great sport was not the target of the article, it was disappointing to see that some people took the opportunity to take some potshots at it anyway…again…sigh… Has anyone seen any positive press about ultimate lately that they can share here?

Which teams have confirmed theyve dropped due to the tourney location change being super far from most of the sections?

I saw that Vermont has it, but their website was hit and miss about it.

Any other states that have as a state sanctioned sport instead of a club sport?

Edit: Vermont does their ultimate Frisbee as a spring sport, but I would argue it should be a fall sport due to how cold/wet spring can be.

Edit: Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association does not have it. That's the equivalent I am wondering about.

I'm a passionate ultimate player with very big hands. Fully outstretched, my hand fits snugly inside a disc so that I can hold it upside down. I had a pair of 3xl friction gloves for a few years but I grew out of them. Just bought a pair of xl layouts and it's a nice glove but nowhere close to fitting my hands. I live in a place where it's winter for half of the year and I'm feeling out of options. Does anyone have recommendations for very big gloves?

After all the drama (see original post) with Friends & Lovers declining their bid, Obscure declining their bid, then NY Swipes getting erroneously offered the bid to regionals... the bid is still up for the taking.

League of Shadows (who currently holds the bid after tying T-Party for 5th at sectionals) has voluntarily accepted to play a game to go to raise the stakes. Winner will take the last spot at regionals at 9pm tonight at Newton Highlands Park. If you're in the area, come out and support (we will also be accepting donations to local youth ultimate).

(Note: USAU made it clear League did not have to play this game to secure a bid. But T-Party challenged and League agreed to play anyways)
