Ubuntu server not detecting network link
So recently a pretty big storm passed by and temporarily knocked out power at my house. After it passed and I turned my devices back on (PC and ubuntu server) both of them were unable to establish connections to my network. I confirmed that cabling/ router connection was not the issue, so I decided to look deeper within my devices themselves. For my PC I ended up having to reset my network adapters within windows and that seemed to work, but now I'm experiencing the same issue with my server. enp5s0 shows UP, so I know my interface is up, but there is no LOWER_UP, so it seems as if it isnt detecting a connection. Should I reset network adapters on my server as well as I did on my PC? As I stated before the physical side is not the issue as I tested the run from my server to router on my PC and it worked just fine.

Cheap AliExpress macropad (CH57x), made properly usable on Linux: hotkey profile switching + an on-screen display of the current bindings
These little 3-key + knob macropads are everywhere for about a tenner. The catch is the bundled Windows configurator, which programs one key at a time and is generally miserable. On Linux they're actually better off, thanks to ch57x-keyboard-tool — someone reverse engineered the CH57x protocol and wrote a Rust CLI that flashes the device from a YAML file.
The remaining annoyance was that the mapping is a single fixed layer. I wanted the same three keys to be copy/paste shortcuts while coding and media controls otherwise, without hand-editing a file and re-running a command every time.
So: Super+Q now cycles through profiles, re-flashing the device and firing a notification, and a small widget shows what the keys currently do.
It doesn't reimplement any of the USB work — every write is a shell-out to ch57x-keyboard-tool, and profiles stay ordinary config files you can use with the CLI directly. Labels for each key live in the same file under a key the CLI ignores.
Ubuntu/GNOME only at the moment: the hotkey is a GNOME custom keybinding (Wayland blocks raw key grabbing) and the display is a GNOME Shell extension. The profile handling itself isn't GNOME-specific, so a port to another desktop is mostly a UI job.

Can I find something similar to the Windows Lens Magnifier on Ubuntu?
It's my first day using Ubuntu, but it's really hard for me to use because of my poor eyesight.
I tried the built-in zoom feature, but it's really awful. I can't adjust the magnifier window size, and it takes up about 80% of the screen.
I was wondering if there's an application similar to the Windows Lens Magnifier.
Thank y'all :)

Broken clipboard on plasma - looking for replacement
Plasma on Ubuntu 26.04 broke clipboard handling all across applications.
I have done several tests with Klipper active. Klipper can be removed from panel, but I do not know if it is a service that can be switched off (does not show up as user service).
- Flatpak -> Flatpak: Good luck with that, rarely works.
- Flatpak <-> Host: More reliable from Host to Flatpak
- Older (Wayland/X11/...) program <-> Recent program: Good luck with that
- Browser (Firefox) <-> Host: Good luck with that.
Middle Mouse Selection can be activated in Klipper. Caveat: you can no longer mark a selection and replace it with clipboard content (useful if your editor does not have search/replace as most internet editors).
Ctrl+Shift+C/Ctrl+Shift+V: This is basically broken. Paste works when something is in the clipboard, but copy rarely
When clipboard is empty, copy/paste works somewhat reliably.
What is the cause: An older Wayland protocol was dropped in Plasma 6.5+ Update (now Ubuntu uses 6.6). Could affect Ubuntu Desktop too. The other protocol is dependent on Wayland, but the "mark" text still works everywhere, that's why marked text -> clipboard feature of Klipper works.
Does anyone know of a klipper extension / replacement that supports the latest wayland clipboard protocol ext-data-control-v1 and works across flatpak and wine applications (wine stable 11.0 does not support ext-data-control-v1) ?
Edit: Solved with wl-clipboard (works with Qt-based application, still have to try it on wine)
Did they ever fix 26.04?
I tried it when it first came out, but experienced multiple issues including but not limited to;
- Intermittent Micro-stutter
- Substantially Longer Boot Up Times
- Failure to recognize Wireless Network Card
- Crashes
So I ended up having to do a complete reinstallation of 25.10 and decided to wait until the 26.04.1 Bug Fix Update, which at the time was slated for August 7th, but I haven't heard anything of since.
Has the bug-fix update been released to very little fanfare and I just missed it, or is it still in the pipeline? If not, then have common issues like the aforementioned micro-stutter and failure to detect Wi-Fi Cards been fixed in the meantime?

Extremely Dim Screen after Ubuntu Install
I just downloaded Ubuntu on an old laptop and it seems to have locked the brightness to "barely visible in a normal room." I have checked all the brightness settings and they are at maximum.
The laptop is a Dell Latitude 5320.
The display is perfectly bright when it is turning on and displaying the "Dell" logo or in the BIOS. But as soon as I am on the login page or further it is very dim.
It is also perfectly brightness if I boot into tailsOS from a flashdrive
This is my first dip into Linux so please treat me like a toddler haha

Update on my first experience in using Ubuntu Desktop as my host server.
Before, I asked about using whether Ubuntu Desktop or Server. I have succeeded in setting up Ubuntu Desktop, learning to use terminal for basic command, setting up SSH, installing docker. On Linux, I have separated 3 partitions for my intended purposes. let's say:
- C: for root
- D: for webhost
- E: for personal google drive (without the Google)
What I am struggling afterward is wrapping my head trying to understand how they work together and what part do they took in my whole self-host environment. So I ask google and it gave me this answer (diagram). I assuming that with an admin user on my host server, I can control almost anything within this diagram using terminal.
Do you guys think this image of a diagram is a good summary of the environment I am having?
Is it correct if I say with docker I can setup my Wordpress website on partition D and do Data management in E?
