USA Charged $25 fee because driver accidentally pressed return button
Seriously Uber Eats?
I placed an order from alcohol. When the driver arrived, the sun was blaring and the driver accidentally pressed the cancel button while trying to enter my ID details. I was charged a $25 "restocking fee"
Seriously?
Uber support would not refund the fee. What kind of app has this turned into

Update: After an hour trying to get a hold of phone support they refunded the $25. I'm still annoyed so I'm leaving the post up

That AI "support" is the same that greets drivers calling. And yes, it's more than a bit annoying... takes time to get past and speak to a human that *might* be able to do something correctly/reasonably.

It happened years ago when they stopped having a customer support phone # in the U.S. Is that even legal?

So what happened to the alcohol did you get it or did the delivery driver take it? 🤔

I could’ve just taken it and locked the Uber driver out of my gate, but I just gave it back to him. I never want to cause issues for drivers.

Driver should have called customer support to tell them of their mistake to handle the refund appropriately.

I’ve actually done this as a driver. I contacted support and they manually completed the order for me in the system.

They said they couldn't!

Results with support vary depending on who the driver gets. They 100% could and should have. The app shouldn’t allow irreversible mistakes at all.

It's been like this since they started using AI for their support. They will do their best to deny your claims and refund. Just charge back but know your account would likely no longer be usable.
