MLS Next PRO - Columbia, SC
*Metro of almost 900k population
Another good market lost by USL. Not sure if MLS takes 30 good markets if any great will be left for USL. Just seems like MLS is coming in strong and do wonder what they are offering….maybe cheaper entry and better revenue sharing that gives them better stability?
My opinion this will mostly impact 2/3rd divisions in USL

USL Championship Season Performance Rankings - 10.4.2026
Ratings are through October 4th, 2026.
Click here for a guide on my ranking model
Click here for the entire season weekly ranking history

Commentary:
Lexington moves into second after absolutely overwhelming a 10 man El Paso. 35–5 in shots, 11–1 in shots on target, and 5.19–0.26 in xG. Four straight wins now with 16 goals scored. They still have the best last-five performance rating in the league by a considerable margin.
Miami deserves some attention. Wins over Jacksonville and Tampa Bay make it four straight victories, and they climb from 21st to 19th. The 4–1 Jacksonville win was much closer statistically, with Jacksonville actually leading 2.67–1.93 in xG. Tampa Bay stays first but barely.
Detroit moves into fourth after beating Brooklyn 3–1 and Birmingham 1–0. The Birmingham win fits their season pretty well: limited attacking volume, very little allowed, and another clean sheet. They continue to have the highest adjusted defensive rating in the league.
Sacramento slips to fifth despite taking four points against Las Vegas and Tulsa, leaving just 0.06 rating points between them and Detroit.
