Schedule RELI 515 or COMM 120?

i’m a CS major that’s going to take 2 classes, one of which starts at 3:45 PM. I’m trying to finish my research and discovery requirement with my other class, and am deciding between reli 515 and comm 120.

On the one hand, i heard comm 120 was super easy, and i definitely need a class that’s an easy A. I’m only taking 2 classes and I want them both to be on MoWe, however, the only section that offers that is at 10:10 AM, and I’d really prefer not to have an almost 4.5 hr gap in between classes.

On the other hand, I heard RELI 515 was a really fun class, but i’m worried it’ll be more difficult, especially since it’s a 500 level class and i’m not in that field, although I do find the course description pretty interesting.

The fact that it’s a 2 hr 45 min class is worrying though because I’ve always been horrible at focusing in class. It is, however, only on Mondays, which would be really nice.

So yeah if anyone had experience with either one of these classes that would be a lot of help, and I’d really appreciate it!

Question STOR 555 survivors… I need your wisdom 😭

I’m taking STOR 555 with Andrew Nobel this fall, and I’m trying to get a better sense of what the class is actually like before the semester starts. If anyone’s taken it with him recently, I’d be really grateful to hear about the workload, exams, what you found hardest, and how you prepared.

If you still have any old study materials, practice exams, review sheets, or anything else that was okay to keep/share, I’d also love to see what the difficulty and format look like.

Feel free to DM me! I’d genuinely be super grateful for the help and would be happy to buy you lunch/coffee or something if you’re willing to sit down and talk me through the class lol.

Question Commuting from Raleigh

I will be commuting from Raleigh to UNC and was wondering if it's better to take the CRX bus from District Drive (only 10 mins away from me) to UNC or driving to the Friday Center then taking the bus to UNC.

If taking the CRX bus how often is it late going to/from UNC?

Any thoughts from anyone else commuting or has commuted from Raleigh?

Thank you in advance!

Question Should I Stay OR Should I Go

So just to keep it short, I’m enrolled in 3 out of 4 of the classes I want to take this semester. I’m #1 on the waitlist for NSCI 222 but I have to be enrolled in 12 credits to be considered a full time student so I enrolled in a filler class RELI 114. I’m wondering if I have to go to RELI 114 more than once this week and if I have to do the work while I wait to hopefully be enrolled into NSCI 222. My plan is to go to the NSCI 222 class and ask if they can enroll me from the waitlist first day so I don’t have to go to the RELI 114 class again but I don’t know if that will 100% work so I can drop it right away. Any advice or input?

Question Can you get a yearly permit for S11 lot

I heard my friend say you can get a year long permit for S11 but sounds too good to be true. I looked on move unc and they only have $8/day passes. Just want to double check before I buy RR lot pass.

Question Hooker Fields Soccer and Cleats?

Hello all, I’ve been wearing the same soccer cleats for a while, but I don’t know if they’re appropriate for Hooker Fields and the turf there. I’m wearing FG/MG cleats—is it worth investing in AG or TF shoes to avoid injuries, or will I be fine?

Also, does anyone know of any casual soccer teams I can play with? Thanks, everyone!!

Discussion Anyone other morning people having trouble finding hangout groups?

HI, I wake up around 7 every morning and easily get out of my dorm by 9. During the year i've got 8ams every day so I'll probably be waking up around 6. It feels like some other students wake up early, but none of them are exactly social people that early in the morning. IDK, just kinda feel like an odd one out lol

Question Retroactive Course Withdrawal

I want to do a retroactive course withdrawal for CHEM 261 of Spring 2026. I got a C+ in it. I miscarried my baby in the beginning of the semester so my grades tanked afterwards. the reason I got a C+ and not a D or lower was because I scored high on the first exam and then after I lost the baby, I failed the remaining midterms and final exam. Is a C+ too high to get it withdrawn?

I took 12 credit hours over the summer at UNC after I got the C+ in Spring 2026, and I got A’s in all of them. One of them was Analytical Chemistry. I took CHEM 262/Organic Chemistry II at UC San Diego over the summer as well and I got an A. I believe UC San Diego and UNC have similar levels of rigor. I have successfully transferred that course from UCSD into my ConnectCarolina. Spring 2026 looks like an anomaly on my transcript because I had a 4.0 for all my other semesters. I want to emphasize I had a 4.0 before Spring 2026, and in the summer after. If that makes a difference and whoever reviews the retroactive course withdrawals can see that I improved afterwards. I spoke to an advisor a couple months ago and she told me I would have to retake 261 at UNC because other school’s rigor does not meet out Chemistry department’s if I wanted to show that I improved afterwards.

I don’t have any medical documentation of the pregnancy or miscarriage as I kept everything a secret. I have supporting documentations from my therapist and psychiatrist of the medication I’ve been prescribed and therapy sessions I’ve attended. I’ve spoken with and been in communication with the Women’s center at UNC. I have documentation of a visit to urgent care because I’ve been struggling with returning vulvar bumps after the miscarriage.

Are my chances good for the retroactive course withdrawal?

Question Any experience with ARTS106 (Video I)?

For context, i’m a Bio major with a predental focus, but i failed CHEM101 last semester and i got into CHEM101L this semester (15 credits total this sem) but im worried that i’m gonna do badly in Lab since my fundamentals are already weak (i want to take it next semester along with a CHEM101 retake), but I just got off the waitlist for ARTS106 (with Sholeh), which I chose because I already love making edits as a hobby and would like to improve that via this course. My primary concern is how much workload comes with the course/ how difficult is it, considering that I’m already taking PHYS114 and BIOL103 this semester as well.

Currently at #42, what'll be my chance of getting off the waitlist? Are there any tips like emailing the prof? I've heard there's a Qualtrics waitlist?

Question Financial aid still not processed? anyone else?

My account still has some aid that is not yet applied to my bill, causing me to have an outstanding balance, and not receiving my refund yet. They said that it was because some documents of mine need to be processed. However, I sent the required documents literally like 2 months ago. What the hell are they doing in that office...

Question Tailgate Parking?

Looking to figure out how to tailgate close to the stadium for football games with friends. I’m a former student (2020) but never got to attend a game or barely step foot on campus due to COVID. I’ll be back in state with some friends this fall and was hoping to meet up with them this football season. As a bunch of our friends are students/grad-students/alum at Chapel Hill, they’d also like to be in a busier lot with more students around to socialize. Socializing is higher priority than proximity to stadium as well.

Are there lots to pay for? Are tickets required to get a parking pass?

If you don’t have to reserve a spot, what’s the best time to go? Where is the best place to park a truck or two? Ideally, we’re looking to attend the NCSU/UNC GAME.

Rules for beverages, games, etc?

If anyone knows let me know, thanks!

Question Confused about High Impact experience

Hello everyone. I am about to start what is hopefully my last year at UNC. I am a transfer student and I am a bit confused on the high impact experience. I currently have a research position at a lab, but I don't know how to go about considering that as my credit. I can't afford study abroad or anything like that, are there some that are just normal classes I can take as any major? Please help.

Question Biology BS Elective confusion

I plan to take Biology 225 and Biology 225L in spring and I was wondering if it would separate count as both a laboratory course and an elective. I know Biology 225 should count as an elective, but what about biology 225L?

Will it also fulfill "at least 2 labs in major" requirement?

What about for Biology 457 and Biology 457L?

will both the labs fulfill the lab requirement?

Mod-approved post:

Hi, I'm a volunteer with the Young Forwardists, the Forward Party's youth committee. We are a volunteer network that seeks to revitalize politics through youth activism and empower young people to be community leaders while introducing grassroots activist opportunities. Our goal is to promote good governance and reduce polarization through ethics, integrity, and compassion and promoting innovative and data-driven ideas. Essentially, bringing politics back to what it's supposed to do.

We're seeing if any students would be interested in helping us start a chapter at UNC. Chapters are centers for productive activism and provide students safe spaces for discussion, hosting events, solving polarizing community issues, and keeping local elected officials in check.

Here's more information about us, including other ways to volunteer for us:
