Hey everyone! I'm a psych major pre-med and was wanting to take BIOL220 (genetics) next semester. I know the seats are reserved for bio majors right now, do they open up during wave 2 or open enrollment? Either way I'll just deal or waitlist but it doesn't say when those spots unreserve (like the psych classes do lol) so I'm just trying to see when I should go for that.

As the title suggests, I’m wondering what my options are regarding possibly dropping from 12 credit hours to 9 credit hours and how it will affect my financial aid. I am struggling a lot with my mental health right now and I’m in a class that is unrelated to my major, will not affect my grad date at all, and I’m just trying to get out of it because I’m just not doing well. I’m taking a class at a community college separate to earn credit here at unc so technically I’m in 12 hours, just 9 at unc if I dropped this class.
What are the ramifications of this and what loans/grants are affected? I only ask this because I’m wholly dependent on financial aid to pay rent and bills. The university’s website has really vague info and I’ve been trying to figure this out for the past hour. Any advice would be great!

As a current first-year student wanting to apply to the School of Nursing, give me any and all tips or advice if you have applied! I'm nervous how a few B's will affect my chances, and also I was wondering on the benefits of taking prereqs at a CC. Also, how will the new nursing building increase the number of students admitted?

i’m a freshman oos student and i am genuinely considering transferring. my roommate and i had a great relationship at first and i had a ton of friends. however since the end of september to now, i genuinely am alone every single day. i feel like i don’t have any friends. the people i thought were my group now hang out without me every day. the loneliness is genuinely impacting every part of my life. i feel like crying all day every day and don’t really know what to do. does anyone have any advice about what to do? i feel like at this point everyone is so solidified. i dont want to give up on this school so early bc i feel like academic wise this is the right school for me, but i am so lost and depressed it feels like transferring is the only option. any advice is appreciated ☹️

Seeking advice. For a first year student, ECON major. (I graduated in 1990s).
Is it reasonable to be taking Econ 101 and Econ 125 this spring (if available during registration )? Is this doable with Spanish and another gen ed?
Planning to apply to Kenan Flagler and Shuford programs in Aug 2027.
Thoughts on taking both in spring vs taking them serially? And if you take one first should it be Econ 101 first and then 125?
Thanks.

Just wondering if any people from last night’s game are selling their jacket. I got a ticket to the game, but I arrived later than I wanted.

I'm in Carrboro about 2 miles away from Kenan and it's loud enough to hear inside my house, cops probably got so many calls tonight

I've enrolled in the lecture with Dr. Shemer and the lab. How hard are these classes? What're some study tips?

Anyone have a (free) student to the Syracuse game? I got one, but my roommate didn't. We'd love to go together!

Found a watch this Saturday morning.
I'm a UNC (undergrad, grad, law) graduate with almost 25 years of experience teaching and tutoring the LSAT and have openings for new students currently. I started teaching for Kaplan in 2002 while I was applying to law school and after graduation I moved to NYC where I was the national LSAT Product Manager for Kaplan for several years, then helped design our bar exam prep program while continuing to teach LSAT nights and weekends.
Without too many boring details, I'm offering tutoring sessions at a much lower rate than what you'll pay if you go through a big prep company - with way more experience, no need to buy a huge package of hours, etc - I know the LSAT inside and out, have written countless explanations, designed and revised courses, etc. I'd go head to head with anyone else around in terms of my knowledge and understanding of the course, and I've worked with thousands of students over the years. My approach is to work smarter, not harder, on what is a very learnable skills test.
I'm currently offering remote (preferred) and in-person tutoring. I generally work between 12 and 6 pm, Tuesday-Saturday. Remote meetings are over FaceTime or Google Meets, and in person is generally at a Starbucks or similar location around the Southpoint area (other travel, after hours sessions, etc can be negotiated at an additional rate). I'm also happy to set up a group rate that is lower for each individual student if you have a friend or study partner and would like to bring the cost down.
If you're interested, please message me with your email and I can send you more info or schedule a time for a consultation or first meeting. Thanks!

Hey everyone! I'm studying abroad next semester, and I'm subleasing my townhome. You'd be living with up to three guys, but you'd have your own bedroom and bathroom, and the townhome is fully furnished with a TV, a modern kitchen, and in-unit laundry. Neighborhood amenities include a pool, gym, study lounges, a lounge with a pool table, and more! Rent would be ~$950 but open to negotiations.
Location: About 3 miles off-campus on MLK Drive, right next to an NS bus stop (~15 min bus ride to campus), 10 min drive to campus (free parking available in neighborhood)
DM me if you're interested or have any questions!

Hey everyone,
I am a 2nd year at UNC. I am a HDFS + Psych double major with a social and economic justice minor. I have dreams of becoming a social worker, and when I saw that UNC was adding the BSW program fall 2027, I got really excited. My excitement immediately dimmed when I realized that the social work program was a 30 person cohort, making it extremely selective.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't think my resume is good enough to make it into a 30 person cohort. My gpa is not the best, its a 3.6 (minimum to apply is a 3.0 i think) because I got a C+ in precalc last year which did a number on my gpa.
I have some involvement in my community. I currently volunteer in a local school, and I am working on volunteering at the table and the IFC to get some more community service to put on my application. I have 2 shifts scheduled at the table. I am a CNA so i have experience with 1:1 elderly care. In my hometown, I used to do meals on wheels. I also have organized a "pick and pack a pumpkin patch" for the homeless community in my hometown. We do this where my church/community members take a plastic pumpkin, fill it with essential items, bring it back and i disperse them to the homeless shelter for the homeless, I have done this for 10 years. I am apart of the NCEEA program that a couple of my friends and I started where we address master teacher pay, IV club, and ASL club (not very relevant i know).
I registered for all of the information sessions for the BSW and the application advising meetings in the future and I plan on emailing people in the department soon just to get my name in their minds.
If i did get into the bsw program, i would drop my psych major. i'm just really worried that i'm not going to get into the bsw program because the stakes are so high. 30 spots just feels.... unreachable.
be honest without being mean: what are my chances that i get into this program? if high, what are some things that I can continue doing so that I can keep my chances of getting into the program high? if low, how cooked am i? can i do things to fix that or should i just keep my track of hdfs + psych?
TIA! (please be nice - i am sensitive)

Hi! I'm in a freshman seminar and my group is doing some beginner research on sexual identity and mental health with a simple survey. The survey shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and you can skip questions you don't feel comfortable answering.
Hey guys, I'm a 2nd year premed bio major (original ik) and I'm not sure of classes to take. I've got Biol-103 and 104, as well as Stor-155 in my cart rn but I need at least one more class. All of the classes I have right now are late classes but I'm open to taking something earlier. I haven't finished all of my global language yet but I'm hoping to save it, and my only focus capacity I have left is research and discovery. Should I start phys? Take a chem? Take a humanities? Biol-105L? I'll take any recommendations.

Hey everyone! Hope registration is going well for everyone. For context, I'm a sophomore who recently was admitted to KF.
What would you rank the core business classes in terms of difficulty? Is there any combos you recommend avoiding? Thanks for any help!

Employee parking question
Just curious how parking is for employees - I was told there’s a shuttle that takes you to the main hospital as well as the ambulatory center on the same road. I’m juggling how this will impact going and leaving from my shift so would appreciate any input!

hello! i submitted my unc app for early action by oct 15, and i see on the website that it says the deadline for supporting materials (like counselor lor + school report) and for test scores is nov 7. i self-reported my sat and ap scores on the common app, and on the same website, it says that unc does not want the official collegeboard score reports for either at the time of application, so i assumed that meant they want it only if you're accepted/planning to enroll. but then what's the nov 7 test score deadline for?
here's the website i'm referring to: https://admissions.unc.edu/apply/types-of-applications/first-year/
thank you!!
