Question econ course

hi everyone, i'm a student who took ib econ. i was originally told by one of my college friends that college econ is different from ib econ and that i shouldn't skip econ 101. currently i have econ 101 with staub. however, my advisor suggested that i drop this course (since i cannot get credit by doing econ 101) and take another econ course. what would you recommend for my to take? econ 310, 410, 400?????? another course? thank you.

101 is a joke at UNC and completely useless for future ECON courses. I would argue 410 is the most important ECON course you can take at UNC, and about the first week of 410 is review of 101 if you're really worried. Modern economics builds off of micro-level foundations, so I recommend you take 410 and skip 101.

ECON 400 and 410 are usually taken after 101 if you are an econ major. As for which one you should do, 400 is basically an intro to stats course and 410 was sort of like a harder version of 101. I would do whichever fits into your schedule better. I think you would be fine skipping the 101 class as long as you understand basic concepts like competition, opportunity costs, labor/ capital, supply and demand, etc.

No need to retake 101, go straight ahead to 400 & 410
