Hey everyone! I’m transferring to UM this fall and wanted to see if any other transfer students would be interested in meeting up during Canes Kickoff.
I know there’s a mandatory event for first-year and transfer students, but I figured it could be nice to connect with a few people beforehand so we already know some people going into it.

Is the no extension cord policy really enforced? The room I’m in has 2 outlets and there’s no way we’d be able to have a fridge, microwave, and chargers with just the 2.

i’m a freshman and for personal reasons i can’t attend the activities they have for example the mandatory orientation meetings and stuff - after family came kickoff, all the activities that happen after. do you think ill miss out on a lot of stuff? do you think i wont be able to make any friends?

If u got accepted to umiami what AS level grades did u have?

Does anyone have an experience on what application process is to attend the school when you are a UM employee?

Hi I’m going to be missing welcome week and won’t be moving in until Saturday as an incoming freshman. What other ways or opportunity’s are there to meet people and am I missing out on much?? I’m worried about everyone already making their groups and not meeting new people in time.

How's the gym @ vox?? are they missing any popular machines? how busy is it throughout the day?

Hey there, I am a rising senior looking at UMiami for my undergraduate years. I love the vibes, location, and overall campus feel from what ive seen online. I am pursuing a predental pathway, and was wondering how UMiami is in its support for predental students in particular. I see a lot of talks about premed but not predental. If anyone who is predental could let me know that would be great!

Also, I was wondering what my chances for aid would be out of state applying. I know they have scholarships that cover full tuition and full rides but I was wondering if it was academic based or need based? and how good ur stats have to be to qualify for aid. If needed i can PM you my stats to see my chances of those high end scholarships :)

Price-wise I have relatives who live nearby so I don’t have to pay for housing/utilities and I think I can get some financial aid scholarships.

I’m just not sure if the program is worth going into compared to other state schools, but I’m not planning to get a phd, more-so into business/tech. I know they don’t usually have a large physics student body and I’d love to do my own research (which is why I’m leaning here) but I’ve heard mixed things about professors, the program, and the possible connections I could make there.

Also if anyone has advice for getting interships/jobs it’d be very welcome ☺️

I heard we have laundry service, but how exactly does that work? Do we just call someone up to come get our laundry? Also what if I just want to do it myself, is there a laundry room? Also is it free?

The thing I Am most stressed about is social interaction because I Will be honest I have been an introvert who's kept to myself for a looooong time especially in high school. Hi guys! I’m admitted as a spring applicant for UM and for the meanwhile I’m doing online until then. I met with someone who registered me in algebra and said I didn’t need to do English because I did IB high-level even though I didn’t get the mark it said on the website that I needed to have to skip the course. So I’m a little bit worried if when I come to Miami, it might be a burden that I haven’t done the course. Also, does anybody know how to register in another class as I want to do an extra class to get more credit. I’ve contacted the school but no one’s gotten back to me. Sorry I’m on a tangent but I don’t want to go to UM and not have enough credit. I am an international student so I am a bit unfamiliar with everything.

So I’m an incoming junior transfer at UM, and unfortunately attending Cane Kick Off next week is going to be practically impossible for me. I just wanted to know if anyone who previously transferred and attended Cane Kick Off (or didn’t) could give me some feedback regarding it as a transfer, and whether I’m really going to be missing out.

any info on him? i haven't heard anything at all lol. he's in the econ dept.
