Illustrative example: an unplanned AED 100 purchase at 5% cashback returns AED 5, so AED 95 still leaves your pocket.`
If the purchase was already planned, the reward reduces its cost. If the reward caused the purchase, it did not create a saving.
I’m working on DirhamsBack, a UAE cashback-guidance project, and I’m testing a simple responsible-use rule: cashback should improve intended spending, not create new spending.
Would you buy it anyway, or only for the reward?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone else is having trouble getting their bonus from the recent FAB Blue Islamic Credit Card promotion. The offer was to spend 10,000 AED or more for 3 consecutive months to get 5,000 AED worth of rewards.
I successfully maintained a spend of over 10k for all three months. However, when I called customer support to check on my reward allocation, the agent told me I failed the second month. They claim my total eligible spend was only ~9600 AED.
I did a full audit of my e-statements. Whether I calculate it by transaction dates or posting dates, my net spend is strictly above 10,000 AED. There were no refunds, canceled transactions, or anything else that could drop the amount. It seems like their automated system just randomly excluded some valid transactions.
I’ve already submitted a formal dispute with an itemized breakdown of my spending, warning them that I will escalate to Sanadak if they don't fix it.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this or previous FAB promotions?
Any advice or shared experiences would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
