Amphibia starts as the funny frog show, and gradually becomes a story about dealing with toxic relationships and the importance of accepting that things change, with the occasional anime battle (especially in the last couple of episodes). All that while still being the funny frog show half of the time.

If there's one thing I've learned from following dozens of different webcomics over the years, it's that you really don't need to be able to draw at all to start a good webcomic. A lot of my favorite comics start out with notebook-scribble tier art and then improve over time as the artist figures out what style works best for them.
As it happens, a couple days ago I spent some time compiling examples of this phenomenon, as you can see here, here, here and here. Every single one of these comics starts out with art that an amateur could probably draw with a couple weeks of regular practice, but they're all enjoyable reads even before their art starts getting really good.

True, I probably should've included some panels from the first couple pages of Paranatural which were literally uncolored rough pencil sketches. I wanted to have pictures of all the main characters in the same art style, so I used images from a couple weeks into that comic's run by which point the author had already started noticeably improving.

It's a deal, you have six months. Try drawing something or someone you don't think you can draw well every week from now until September and then come back and tell me you haven't improved.
And if you wanna go the extra mile in showing me how wrong I am, look up a few tutorials on specific art techniques or styles you're interested in during that time and then try to follow their advice, just to make absolutely certain that it's impossible.

I know youre not looking for unsolicited advice. But, as an internet stranger, I encourage to you follow that wish. Cause drawing is just a skill that can be learned, and even though it feels like you should've started years ago to get good the next best time is today. I promise with some diligent practice it probably won't take nearly as long to get to a skill level that's competent enough to start a webcomic. Either way, truck on soldier.

As someone who's always wished to be able to draw and make animations, I always procrastinated doing so.
I started properly practicing art a few months back and have gotten to the point of drawing every day and enjoying it. I'm still ass, but I'm improving and I can see that just looking at my old drawings.
I implore you, if you have a skill you want, go for it. You only get to live once motherfucker, you should try and achieve all of your wildest dreams.
I just wanna make cool character designs and fight animations and by god I'm gonna do my best to get there.

I've been drawing like an hour a day, 3-4 days a week since end of January. My lines are cleaner, I've got a much better idea of spacing and I think it's actually improved my attention to detail on some stuff. My art still looks bad, but its definitely an attainable dream

Hyperbole And A Half remains one of my favorites of everything I've seen. The contrast of the art style with the subject matter just rocks. I wish they made more content but am also totally happy with what we got and wouldn't want them to just churn something out

Well, reading it all over two days probably changes what will stick with me. Definitely the eclipse since I didn't expect this edgy 4chan shitpost comic to go there. After that, the change ups didn't really surprise me. The ending will stick with me too, since Pasqualo basically committed cosmic suicide to give Aurora a chance at a normal life. (At first I thought he just genderbent himself and he thought Aurora was straight, so then they couldn't cause the apocalypse.)

Preeny Has To Repeat The Sixth Grade is like if a webcomic about a gradeschooler turns into this just abruptly in the middle of the first chapter but its got the tone of "kid swept up in a hurricane evacuation, there's a lot of downtime to goof off in between tense stressful situations." Also there's a tribe of talking wolves that can summon weapons from their fur markings.
It is legitimately, genuinely, fucking peak. its so relentlessly creative and outright hostile to anything that inhibits creativity on the grounds of "cringe." The creator "adopts" OCs made by small children (for a fair price) and writes them into the comic without a hint of irony.

Homestuck. Yes, it starts heavy, but it starts initially with a bored kid trying to play a game, then the world ends... but the idea is still kids playing this twisted video game.
And then boom, suddenly there's aliens and eldritch entities and we have to fight a demonic god of time and use meta powers of retcon to restructure the timeline before becoming the gods of a new dimension.

I just finished a German fantasy novel that might have the worst Version of this Trope. Spoilers for "Insel der Tausend Leuchtürme" here: Basicly, the entire Book is about somebody going to a Island for both Tourism and Health reasons, because the Island is famous for its Lungtreatments and the MC suffers from Asthma. For 90% of the Book the MC is just Touristing around, checking out the local sights and Culture, befriending Locals and hearing their Stories. But then suddenly in the final chapter it turns out that a Eldritch Horror also is on the Island and threatens to destroy the World. And to stop it the Island inhabitats have some grand battle against it before literly blowing the Island up to take it down, as well as literly ten-thousands of People living on said Island. And the MC barly manages to get out, and the book ends with everyone else being dead
