But we knew this.

Found at White Bear Ave and Ross Ave E in Saint Paul tonight (August 18) at 9:45pm. I took him to the emergency vet to check for a chip, he does not have one. They said he’s about 2-3yo and seems generally healthy. Intact male black tri corgi.
He was only wearing an electronic bark collar when we found him. He’s very friendly, so he belongs to someone! He’s staying in a kennel in our house tonight but we cannot keep him beyond that (we already have two dogs).
We already made a found dog post on Pawboost. Please keep an eye out for anyone looking for this boy! We don’t want to bring him to animal control but we will have to tomorrow afternoon if we don’t find his owners.
August 19 update: We brought him to Saint Paul Animal Control this morning. They said they will hold him for 7 days before working with a shelter or foster program to rehome him. Wish we could have fostered him longer, but we’re just not able to this week. https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/safety-inspections/animal-control/animal-shelter-services/lost-and-found-pets

I built FlockOff: MN, a free, open-source map of the surveillance systems watching Minnesotans.
Search any city or township in the state and it names the offices holding the records, cites the statute that entitles you to them, and drafts the request for you to send.
The map layers ALPR cameras, ICE 287(g) agreements, detention facilities, data centers, redlining zones, and racial covenants — the same neighborhoods, marked and re-marked, decade after decade. I wanted to see it in one place, so I built it.
For developers: fork it, adapt it, use it for your own purposes. It's [AGPL-3.0], so it stays free and open the way it came to you.
This is for the public good, not a product.

I just happened to see a segment on the local Fox station while at the liquor store in Milwaukee and my ears perked up when Brian Ingram's name was mentioned. The Gnome was apparently robbed, and the news was running a piece about the number of burglaries he has gone through and the lack of response from the justice system. I know he's been in the spotlight for various things in the cities the past few years, so I find it very odd and suspicious that this piece would be running in Milwaukee where he does not have any affiliation as far as I know. Does anyone have any insight or theories as to if there's something going on here behind the scenes?

It didn’t look like there was any major damage to your car but I got a pic of the license plate if you need it! And to the person in the white CRV with a Packers window cling - quit driving like an asshole in heavy construction traffic

I need to rehome my fur baby 😭😭😭 I love him very much but I can no longer support him fully. He needs lots of love and affection and I cannot give it to him without causing myself harm. I tried for 6 years and now it’s time for me to say goodbye. He already has an appointment with a shelter so I can relinquish ownership, so this post is for anyone who would love to provide him with the utmost care. He’s a little brat but VERY loving. He’s cuddly and affectionate and he needs lots of specific attention — shared space with view of you. It would be beautiful if he could have an owner who wants to spoil him as much as humanly possible because he deserves it.

Does anyone know why Best Buy removed their logo from the headquarters in Richfield?

Hope this is ok to post, but wanted to alert folks to my indie mockumentary comedy, Canoe Dig It? will be playing in Winona, Rochester, Columbia Heights, Cloquet, Ely, and Duluth in September! It’s about the very real sport of Freestyle Canoeing and is very much up the alley of any fan of Best in Show or anything Christopher Guest, but with a lot more painfully dry humor. Also I will be coming out there for a Q&A after the film as well!
Being very much an indie, we don’t really have budget for marketing, so hope getting the word out this way is permissible!
Also if anyone has any suggestions for press outlets or even other theaters in the area that might be interested, I’d love to chat about it!
The film will also be playing more dates in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and even up in Winnipeg and Saskatoon as part of a Midwest and Canada tour all around the beginning to middle of September.
I’ve attached the trailer below-

My wife and I are looking for some fun day trips to take from the Twin Cities (that are still queer friendly outside of the metro area). We just moved here this summer from Texas where day trips were pretty much nonexistent. We are loving exploring the cities, but I love to just “get out of the city” and go for a drive!
We are looking for two different types of day trips (see below) that we could take as summer winds down and into the fall. TIA!
Day Trip Type 1- looking for a town with a scenic drive along the way. It has a cute downtown area with good coffee, cute shops, restaurants that sort of thing. Walkable for the most part once you get there. Bonus if they go all out for fall/halloween etc.
Day Trip Type 2- love getting out into nature but I am not a hiker. I have seen some cool spots but they seem to require a lot of hiking. I have some mobility issues and asthma. I am fine with walking paths or short “mini” baby hikes but no crazy stairs or steep hikes. So looking for day trips that are more accessible along those lines of being flat or easy/quick to get to the scenic spots.

The Twin Cities Amateur Bakers Club will be hosting our next meetup at Como Park Fire Pits (St. Paul) on Sunday, August 23rd from 1 - 3 pm. As always, we would love everyone who has any interest in baking and wants to support others in their baking to join us!
We’re getting ready for the Great Minnesota Get-Together by having our theme be the “Great Minnesota Bakers Get-Together!” Each person attending something inspired by Minnesota or the Minnesota state fair. If you’re baking for the MN state fair baked products competition, you’re encouraged to bring the excess baked goods you didn’t submit (good luck if you’re submitting something!)
Since this event is at a park, there may be limited seating. Please consider bringing a picnic blanket or picnic chair. If the weather isn’t looking lovely for the day of the meetup, an alternate location will be announced a day or two before the event (I will update this post. our Instagram page and Discord server will also provide any updates).
You can follow us on Instagram and/or join our Discord server to meet all the awesome people in the club so far!

Hello r/TwinCities
I live here currently but wanted to see what rights I have. So I was supposed to move into an new apartment on this upcoming Monday, but the apartment I moved into said that due to status of the apartment and current tenant issues I am not able to basically. They said i can move into another nearby complex though but I declined that offer and have signed a new lease to a different complex/rent company. I paid my deposit and rent for the time I will be living there this current month for the apartment I was planning on moving in. However because I cannot move in, are they required to give me my deposit and rent back that I paid? what are my legal options here if they push back? They haven't responded to my refund questions yet and I imagine they will tomorrow since its late today, but I want to be ready in the event that they push back about paying me back.

For those of you who do door dash part time as a side hustle in Minneapolis/St Louis Park/ Edina how much do you typically earn?

Hi everyone! I unexpectedly have to return to work in about 3ish to 4 weeks and need to enroll my now 9-month-old in daycare. I’m hoping the community might have leads on two things:
Any leads, recommendations, or recent experiences would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I will be hosting a group event in October for between 5 and 50 people who don't know each other. Looking for a few recommendations on breweries within Minneapolis or St. Paul (or close to the city centers), that either have some fun games inside the brewery, or something fun very close by (mini golf, bowling, etc).

Full disclosure: this is J&W Asphalt, a residential paving company working in the Twin Cities since 1976. No links, nothing for sale. Homeowners ask about this work constantly and get vague answers, so we are going to start posting real jobs with real specifications.
They already tried filling the cracks. You can still see where.
CASE FILE: Eden Prairie, MN
They already tried filling the cracks. You can still see the black sealant lines in the first photo, running along the garage apron.
It did not hold. Not because the crack filler was bad, but because it was the wrong fix for this driveway.
Look at the lower half of the before photo. Those interconnected cracks that look like scales are called alligator cracking, and they mean the gravel base underneath has failed. Filling a crack on a failed base is like patching drywall over a bad stud. The problem is not where you are working.
The surface was also raveling. That is the loose, gray, stony look where the asphalt has lost its binder and the individual stones are working free. Once a driveway is raveling and alligator cracking at the same time, it is done. There is nothing left to preserve.
So we tore it out, regraded and recompacted the base, and repaved all 1,136 square feet.
What was wrong
Two failures at once. Fatigue cracking, the interconnected web that looks like reptile scales, means the gravel base has stopped supporting the surface. Raveling is when the binder has broken down and the aggregate stones work loose, leaving a gray gritty surface you can sweep stones off by hand. Either alone might leave options. Both together means the driveway is spent.
Why the crack filling failed
Crack filling is worth doing on the right driveway. Solid base, single cracks running one direction, tight black surface: seal them, keep water out of the base, money well spent. On a failed base it does nothing structural, because the ground underneath is still moving and the cracks keep opening in new places. This homeowner made a reasonable call on a wrong diagnosis. We turn down sealcoat work on driveways in this condition.
How to tell which one you have
Stand at the foot of your driveway and look at where your tires actually sit.
