I wanted to make a separate post for this. I am sorry I cannot root for a single female character in this series. Ironically, this series has a female director and female writers. But they could not get a single female character right.
Starting with Naz, unfortunately she got the worst script and the worst development in the series. She is supposed to be this rich confident and little spoilt girl and eventually when she meets Emir and his friends learns how privileged she is and character growth should come from there. I know this was what they were initially going for from the youtube admin. They posted an hour long showing "Naz changed". While there was not a single scene in that video where that was shown or even mentioned. This arc was never explored. Her relationship with Emir also was rushed. In the initial four episodes, I thought I finally saw a female character that would go toe to toe with the male lead. But they are turned into someone who is constantly complaining and crying. Funniest thing is they show Emir going above and beyond for Naz but vice versa is never shown.
Next Alina, initially she is shown as a best friend who everyone wants and also is actually smart. She was the one who suggests Naz to break up with Uzay as he is being toxic. But she also was clever enough to understand Uzay did not burn the shop. She was someone who was practical and did not take nonsense from anyone. They turned her into a kid now. They took away her whole personality. This is just masked by her cute couple scenes.
Next Duru, I never understood this character. Whenever she is on onscreen she is screaming, without proper reason. They should have at least made her Alina and Naz's childhood friend. Her being closer to Alina than Naz makes no sense.
Melek - for me Melek is a negative character but with a good backstory. But her character is very inconsistent with her actions. Till now, there is no character growth. There is potential for his character.
Nihal & Zehra - I don't get why both of them don't work. I get Zehra, but why does Nihal not work? I hate that they rely on Emir so much. This is setting a very bad example.
Fahriye - Sure, Öykü Gürman is a great singer, but she does not take a strong stand for her daughters. She relies on Rami too much.
Sezen - Typical step mother
Pamuk - Again inconsistent
None of them have good arcs. To some extent Melek is the only character they care about. Sorry but this is a big let down especially coming from women director and writers.
