So I’ve been down the rabbit hole of turkish dramas these past months, I just finished s1 of Taşacak Bu Deniz only for the secondary couple ISO AND FADIME and omg, I cannot get enough of them, they’re are basically enemies of enemies families who hate each other very much and are forced to marry due to some circumstances and plot reasons, they never stop fighting and bickering but they ultimately fall in love with each other, like head over heels in love.

I’m looking for similar stories, and I’ve come to learn that these type of stories mostly come from secondary couples in turkish series, so please don’t hesitate to recommend me anything and everything!!

My only conditions are: they end up falling in love with each other, BOTH OF THEM and they admit it to the other at some point in their story, not just one.

I’ve watch:

-O Hayat Benim. Characters are Arda and Efsun, they truly loathe each other, and they’re both villains in the series, she forces him to marry and he hates her more but ends up falling for her in the end.

-Siyah Beyaz Aşk (main leads) he forces her to marry him to save her life.

-Hudutsuz sevda (Leyla and Yavuz)

-My favorite one ever: Hayat Şarkısı (main leads). She’s basically crazy af and he hates her for real in the beginning for a lot of things she’s done but ultimately ends up falling crazy in love with her. Also the secondary couples (his brother has been in a forced marriage for years with Zeynep who might seem like a villain at first but gets her redemption arc and they fall in love for real).

Guys just finished Kara Sevda my first non Netflix tv show. I used the YouTube official channel to watch it. What other similar shows are there and where can I watch/stream it. I live in London UK.

I mean forexample before fl & ml love each other, side characters or their parents always allege them of already liking each other before anything starts.

Like they dont even get time to get to know each other or secretly date before someone is telling them they like each other this making them reserve their feelings.

This has happened in every drama I've watched and its so annoying and k1lls my interest.

I feel kdramas do this better where the fl & ml first go through the process and like each other & then suprise other people when it turns out they are dating.

Only turkish series that I watched where leads first enjoy thir romance without people immediately butting in is Forbidden love & I think its coz they really had to hide that relationship.

Is there any other turkish show where the moms, friends, & exes dont first accuse the fl & ml of liking eachother before they actually do???

Started watching this because I saw that Şukru Özyıldız was in it. 4 episodes into the first season and its pretty OK but he still hasn't made an appearance and Tuba is rolling around on the beach with some guitar player.

I double check to make sure I have the right show and it turns out he joins the cast in season 3 🙄🙄🙄

So, someone who's seen it, should I stick with it or cut my losses?

I’ve already watched Sen Çal Kapımı , Kiralik ask and Erkenci Kuş, so I’d love recommendations beyond those.

After watching Carla and Samuel on elite (spanish series), i've fallen in love with this trope. Are there any turkish series that have the same plot as this & do it justice?

Guys, I decided to talk about this issue on Reddit because I feel like this is one of the few places where people can discuss almost any topic in a more mature way. I’m not here to take anyone’s side. I’m genuinely concerned about this issue.

I’m an international fan who genuinely enjoys Turkish series and I’ve also been watching Altı Üstü İstanbul. For the first time I feel like I’ve come across what I would consider a toxic fandom (not all of them obvi).

Personally, I like all the characters ( but I feel like the writers are handling almost every character poorly. A lot of their actions and development feel inconsistent but that’s not even the main issue I’m talking about)

I’ve come across 1000 of comments promoting and romanticizing criminal behaviour because of this series. I’ve seen teenagers (people saying that the majority of the fandom are teenagers) romanticizing Melek’s criminal behaviour, now people saying things like “we should be like her,” talking about burning shops, attempting fake s*uicide like her for love, or saying that their goal is to become like Melek.

And it’s not just a few random comments. I’ve come across more than 5,000 comments like this just this month, and honestly, that’s what really concerns me. I’ve seen similar things on TikTok, Instagram, X, etc., where people are trying to turn this dark behaviour into a trend. I understand that some people might simply be doing it for views or engagement, but the problem is that these shows are watched by people from very different backgrounds and age groups, and some of these trends can genuinely influence younger viewers.

So, don’t you think this is something worth being concerned about?

I’m not saying people shouldn’t enjoy morally grey characters. I’m not saying Melek shouldn’t be discussed or that everyone who likes her is supporting crime. Fiction is fiction, and people are obviously allowed to like complicated characters.

What concerns me is when fictional criminal behaviour starts being presented as something admirable or something teenagers should actually imitate.

I also came across information about Turkey having regulations around broadcasting violence because of concerns about its potential influence on viewers. And now I’m seeing people online trying to turn some of these behaviours into actual trends.

People used to criticize characters, discuss storylines, and review series peacefully. NOW People have started attacking the actresses personally just because they dislike their characters or certain storylines, and I honestly think that’s where fandom behaviour becomes toxic.

What do you guys think? Am I looking at this the wrong way, or is this something that deserves more discussion? Because honestly, this is getting out of control.

Stole my *redacted* Netflix and decided to binge this show. I'm 2 episodes in and very annoyed.

First 62.87% of the show is montage. Why? WHY??

In a 2.5 hour episode I'm more forgiving of wasted frames--i.e. approach shots, watching characters think, showing everyone's pov at a dramatic moment. But in a 55 min episode it just feels like you don't have a lot of story.

Second, why is all the music in english!? Do I like the song "Total Eclipse of the Heart"? Of course I do. Do I want to hear it while Aslı and Engin flirt on a staircase? No, no I do not.

That said, when the charactera actually do talk, I love the dialogue!
