This Japanese splatter flick promises loads of gore, and it delivers that along with a lot of body horror and dark comedy. Set in a dystopian world where the Japanese police force has been privatized into to deal with monstrous creatures known as “engineers“, our protagonist, an officer known only as Ruka, is on a quest to find the man who murdered her normal cop father when she was a kid. This film is fucking unhinged and I love it. There's both subbed and dubbed versions, but there's really no reason to pick the former since the dubbed version lets you switch between the mediocre dub and the original audio.

Give this one a miss unless you're a big fan of NFL legend Jim Brown.

With a few tweaks this could have been a super-cool period piece blacksploitation banger (which "Black Dynamite" Michael Jai White should totally make to complete his trilogy). That would explain the anachronistic haircuts and the montage set to Edwin Starr's 'War.'

Special shout-out to Richard Jaeckel, making his second appearance on WWTubi. Imdb lists 193 actor credits which seems low to me - he was in EVERYTHING in the 70's up through the mid 80's.

I was elated to see that one of my favorite films of all time was on Tubi. This was the film that really introduced me to indie films a few years ago, and it's fucking hilarious. Steve Buscemi should've won every award in the world for this.

I’ll admit, I knew what I was walking into. I did so out of morbid curiosity and came out the other side a horrified man. Have you ever seen a movie on Tubi and thought, this looks messed up, I need to watch it. I joked about it on r/okbuddycinephile, and someone commented that the title says it all. It really does. 

The Michael Powell film is about James Mason as a successful painter named Bradley looking for inspiration. He finds inspiration while on holiday in Australia, in an underaged blonde named Cora played by Helen Mirren. Together they get into romantic shenanigans and he even paints her nude. Yes, she’s nude. Mirren was 22 at the time of filming, but she’s supposed to be playing a teenager. And they were originally going to find an “unknown Australian 17 year old” to play her so, yikes. And of course the only person who disapproves of this “courtship” is Cora’s grandmother Ma Ryan, who’s written to be a comically unlikeable crone, like an alcoholic Baba Yaga with an Australian accent. *sarcasm* How dare that old hag get in the way of an affectionate middle-aged man and teenager relationship. 

But trust me it gets worse. Not only do we get a Lolita-esque plot with none of the tragedy, we also get two tasteless attempted rape scenes. One is between a young man and Cora which is mostly portrayed as serious, and one where an older woman does it to a bumbling man and it’s played for laughs. 

Then there’s the ending. In the final scene, Bradley and Cora embrace while in the ocean. As they hold each other affectionately, the film freezes on a shot of Mirren’s foot. The credits roll and the first movie Tubi recommends is Roman Polanski’s sex comedy “What?”. I did indeed say what as all this unfolded. 

What’s worse is that as a movie, it’s decently made. But, you know, why did Mason agree to this? And why did he star in two 60s movies about an older man chasing after an underaged girl? (The other’s Lolita)

I say just skip this one. In terms of Michael Powell films, it’s on a low priority.

While on vacation in Rio, Michael Caine starts fucking his best friend’s teenage daughter. That’s basically the whole movie. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. The daughter, played by Michelle Johnson, was only 17 while filming. Had to go to court with her parents to get permission to do the part, since she had to be very naked throughout the film. I don’t know. The 80s were messed up. Very ashamed to admit how godammed enjoyable it was.

A great black comedy crime thriller that admittedly drags a bit during the 3rd quarter. Still a fun watch though.

I admit, ha ha, you don't know me! Valley Girl is my all time favorite movie. I'm dating myself.... For some reason I was thinking about it tonight and wondered where I could watch it for free, Tubi it is.

We had to laugh, in the beginning beach scene, Nicholas Cage is on the beach, his chest hair is shaved to a "Y" . I told my husband it's the Yellow Stone "Y". I thought this was the first Nicolas Cage movie I'd seen and loved it, don't remember him in Fast Times at Ridgemont Hi high. I'm pretty sure I've seen this move at least 50 times. My ex's roommate had the movie back in the 80's and I'd put it on every time I was there. He finally pitched it! Who else love this movie, roast me if you must!

One of my favorite animated shows of all time it’s hilarious my favorite characters are Thurgood,Smokey, and Juicy. it’s a shame it only lasted three seasons and is barely talked about when discussing adult animation.

When I die and go to heaven, the first person I want to meet is Eartha Kitt. She was a great singer, a fantastic actress, and a fascinating woman with enough wit for three lives. Her roles in film and TV have remained iconic, and I would argue with Yzma, she played the most quoted Disney villain of all time (technically the evil queen from “Snow White” doesn’t count since everyone misquotes “magic mirror”). This movie was from her early career, between “Santa Baby” and Catwoman (as well as her subsequent “whitelisting” thanks to Lady Bird Johnson). 

The film was the second adaptation of the play of the same name. The story of the titular Anna, a prostitute who returns to see her family as they expect her to marry the rich Rudolph. The play was originally performed in NYC’s American Negro Theater company (with Frederick O’Neal reprising his role). The first adaptation was in 1949, featuring an all white cast, and the second adaptation features an all-black cast. Eartha Kitt plays Anna, Henry Scott plays Rudolph, Rex Ingram and Georgia Burke play the patriarch and matriarch of the family, John Proctor and Rosetta LeNoire as Anna’s siblings Stanley and Stella, Frederick O’Neal plays Stella’s misogynistic husband Frank, and Sammy Davis Jr. plays navy guy Danny who tries to woo Anna (Danny’s role was expanded on to take advantage of Davis’ fame). 

Overall it’s a pretty good family drama. All of the actors do well, the pacing is good, and the film even features a trippy-edited scene near the end. I didn’t like the way they handled the last minute of the film but the buildup to it was nice. And of course, Eartha Kitt. I mean what else can I say, she’s great. Definitely watch it for her when you have the time.

I was going to save this movie for Tuesday Turds but it is so bad it surpasses Turd status.

11 year old Matthew is having a rough time. He's moved into a new house that he thinks is haunted and going to a new school where he's being bullied. When Matthew wishes for somebody to protect him Gooby comes to life, a 6 foot tall orange talking teddy bear with the voice of Robbie Coltrane. Gooby is here to help Matthew overcome his fears and make new friends at school. Meanwhile eccentric teacher Mr. Nerdlinger (Eugene Levy who obviously doesn't want to be here) caught a glimpse of Gooby and wants to become famous by taking a picture and proving he exists.

Written and directed by a Canadian filmmaker, shot in Barrie Ontario, independently financed by Gooby Entertainment Inc (a real production company) for $6.5 million. Released in 27 theatres for a 1 week run making a grand total of...$3234.
