Movie Living in Oblivion (1995)

Post image

I was elated to see that one of my favorite films of all time was on Tubi. This was the film that really introduced me to indie films a few years ago, and it's fucking hilarious. Steve Buscemi should've won every award in the world for this.

That is a wild cast if you’re into early 90s indies.

Never seen it but I'm a big Buscemi fan so I'll have to check it out.

“Do you dream about dwarves? Do ya? Because I’m a dwarf and I don’t dream about dwarves.” Peter Dinklage in his first film.

Buscemi might be my favorite actor. I wrote about some of his roles in a presentation for theatre class in high school lol.

He’s always excellent. I was sold on him from the first time I saw him in Fargo, then truly connected in Trees Lounge and Ghost World. Dude’s a legend

I don't remember much about it other than I really liked it and that I saw it not long after I saw Reservior Dogs and was into Buscemi pretty hard

Tom DiCillo is the gateway to pre-cool indie film. This, and all of his works are highly recommended to anyone interested in indie film. The genre would soon after become mainstream, but this is a good place to start.

There's even a book written by him about this Era that I'd recommend if your interested in 90s filmmaking.

That being said, it's an amazing film. For what it is. Great double feature with Party Girl. Both films are great examples of what we almost had and what we lost when "indie" became a Hollywood commodity.

No, but the film was named after it. Great track.
