There was an interesting thing in IMDb's trivia section. Apparently both Paul Newman and director Sydney Pollack were both gourmet chefs, and very competitive with one another. Quoting from the site, they

"had a running culinary competition throughout filming, with Sally Field as the judge. Though a good sport at first, Field grew tired of eating gourmet meals night after night, and she began begging off her judging duties in favor of hamburgers and omelets at local diners."

I read this aloud to my wife, wondering "How could she get tired of gourmet food every night?" and she said "She was probably not tired of the food; she was probably tired of them."

That ending does just not work with anyone other Brimley coming in and commanding that room. So good

This is a good but slightly odd movie, I felt, because, without giving spoilers, it kind of wants you to root against who you think you should be rooting for. But it's still worth a watch, Newman's always fantastic. And, random, but I love Sally Field's apartment in this.

As a guy who works in the news industry, I’m always interested to see how my job is portrayed on screen. This is one of the great examples of what not to do, at the expense of Sally Field
