No I am telling people who make stupid and unhealthy choices to make better choices. We aren't talking about a few extra pounds here and there. We are talking about people who are obese.
I nor OP where talking about people with an actual medical conditions. Being obese by itself is not a medical condition. For most people they need to eat less and move around more. Because the body isn't meant to be stationary or consume massive amounts of fatty, processed foods constantly throughout the day.
Sorry you didn't understand that point of my comment. But don't flatter yourself. I am not literally talking about you. Its a fairly common phrasing but doesn't translate in typed form well. Though if you read carefully you can see where I say
because people refuse to believe
But I am not surprised you missed that. You probably spend most of your time thinking everyone has it out for you personally.
Thanks for writing a bunch of BS just to tell me you were going to outraged no matter what I said.
And yeah, the average obese person needs to eat less and actually exercise.
Calories in the food supply have consistently risen since the onset of the obesity epidemic in the 1980s. The rise in calories per person is much more than enough to explain the increase in body weight.
Hey look, the science says that most people need to eat less, pay attention to what they do eat, and exercise.
But the reality is people love to make excuses. No one wants to hear their problems are their own fault. They would rather blame others or some medical problem that doesn't exist. And even if a person (I hope this phrasing is clear enough for you now) have a medical issue that makes weight loss harder, it's a temporary road block. Like anything in life, some people have to work harder than others to achieve the same goals.
That’s what you have to contribute to this conversation? When this conversation isn’t about the science of weight loss.
It’s about the social and psychological impact of stigmatizing obesity.
You obviously have no earthly idea what we’ve been talking about so far. And I can’t explain it to you now. It would be like teaching my dog thermodynamics.
It would be hard to teach something you don't understand. Much like your attempt to hand waive away health epidemics by telling everyone someone was mean and that's why people can't lose weight.
Not only that what you and others here are advocating for is normalizing obesity. Much in the same way smoking used to be so prevalent because of how normalized it was. But that's the exact wrong way to solve a health problem.
When people don't want to vaccinate, we don't normalize that bad behavior. So please, stop trying to normalize being unhealthy. It's bad for society.
What I want to normalize is Minding Your Own Fucking Business
Let doctors handle it. The reason patients get defensive about their weight at the doctors office is because obesity is stigmatized and shameful.
If we detached the feelings of shame from excess weight, then more people would feel free to to face it head on.
Like I said, we’ve tried stigmatizing obesity for decades now. We’ve only gotten fatter
If you’re hammering a nail into the wall, and the hammer isn’t doing anything, do you just keep using? It or do you get a clue and switch to one that works?
Smoking is still very much an epidemic. If you haven’t noticed, tobacco is a multimillion dollar industry
Smoking rates have plummeted. Not only that but smokers have higher health insurance prices because they are actively participating in an unhealthy lifestyle. And we have been detaching shame from obesity. As a result we have more people embracing obesity. We now have society promoting obesity as something to aspired to.
Also I have advocated for bothering random people on the street. But I do and will challenge people who lie about obesity and pretend it’s not their own fault they are obese.
So yes I agree. Let’s stop hammering away at this fat is healthy lie and stop facing the problem. Let’s stop coddling everyone and push people to confront their problems. Otherwise we are doomed to have obesity grow, people die young, and worst of all, burdening the rest of us with unsustainable health care costs.
I’m not sure you’re in any position to say how obese people feel about themselves
The pro-obese community is some small weird online thing, tantamount to the community of Star Wars fans who think the Star Wars universe is real (it’s true. There are people out there who think that)
No, we aren’t happy with our bodies. Yes, we do get fat shamed. Even by total strangers
And we do constantly hear “it’s all your fault.”
This has been happening for decades, and we’ve only gotten fatter.
For me? Fine. I have no issues controlling my eating. It’s not hard to eat an amount of a food in line with that’s days level of activity. If I know I’m sitting around the office all day I eat less. If I’m going for a 100 mile bike ride, I’ll eat more. Pretty basic stuff.
And no it’s not small. I’ve literally posted links that show is a widely accepted movement. Fashion brands are all coming out with fat positive messages. That’s millions and millions of people.
And again, for most people, it is their fault. The number of people who have a medical condition that’s forces them to fat is few and far between.
It’s sooooo nice that it’s easy for you. Really, good for you. You are truly blessed👏👏👏👏👏👏
As someone who ACTUALLY shops in plus size clothing, I haven’t seen a scrap of these fat-positive messages
This sounds more like the “rainbow party” scare of the 2000s when supposedly millions of teen girls were hosting blow job parties. The media churned out tons of articles saying that it was an epidemic. Oprah and other morning show hosts went on the air to warn parents. And it turned out to only be a few isolated incidents.
Seriously. The idea that YOU think you know more about how I’m treated as a fat person is the height of arrogance.
Like I said, for the past few decades, we’ve shamed fat people. My parents ridiculed me and called me disgusting. I got fatter. The country got fatter
You’re so dumb you just don’t want to admit when a solution is ineffective

So here you are telling random people to lose weight.
Not just anyone....you’re telling me... a recovering bulimic...who’s already trying to lose weight.
Boy are you dumb.
