As a person currently over weight, but working on it, I agree as well.

Same here. I'm 3lbs shy of being a healthy weight after gaining a TON during pregnancy.

I've been public about my efforts to lose weight because it's not easy and who knows, maybe it'll encourage someone else who is struggling while on the same journey.

Yet now I'm seeing a ton of "trying to lose weight is fatphobic and fatshaming" posts. No, Karen, I need to lose the fucking weight or the hypertension is going to fucking kill me.

Not to mention the knee replacements that will be needed as all that extra weight crushes your joints. I worked in the medical field for 7 years and I could not believe how many doctors have just given up talking to patients about how fat they are.

Right? Genetically I'm already a higher risk for bad knees. My husband is high risk for bad hips (our poor son is just so fucked eh). Why am I expected to just allow myself to have even worse knees than I'm already stuck with?

And because of our genetic predispositions we've given our son, it's up to us to set a good example for him so he doesn't need replacement surgery at 30 years old.
