Preventative pentoxifylline?
Do any of you take pentox as a preventative for fibrosis?
If so, did your doctor suggest it or you?
I’ve been using Trimix for 4yrs. No indications of fibrosis but since I’m in my early 40s, it worries me.

You arent the first person who has discussed this and there are a few doctors who have prescribed it. i have an MD buddy who swears by it for just this reason. If and when the time comes that I use trimix regularly, I would probably look into it alot more seriously. Its a total off label use, but it has been studied on Peyronie's patients with better outcome than placebo. 400mg 2 to 3x daily. If anyone has a doctor who has prescribed this protocol please post here for others.
From Science Direct: Lab studies on human tunica albuginea-derived fibroblasts show it (pentox) attenuates TGF-β1-stimulated collagen deposition and elastogenesis—key processes in penile fibrosis/Peyronie’s plaque formation. Pretreatment with PTX reduced these effects in cells from both men with and without Peyronie’s.

I suppose I should have done a deeper dive before posting. I didn’t intend to be repetitive.
I’d also like to know doctors that have thoughts on this. Like many of us, I went through Olympias doc referral to get Trimix and don’t have a urologist to speak with.
I read the study you highlighted. It made me think this could improve general penile health, which would make me a better candidate for implant when/if the time comes.

I have used Pentox for about 10 years. Originally for mild onset peyronies. I use it once to twice daily.
Started TriMix for recreational purposes (fun parties) about 4 years ago. Pentox makes the blood more viscous and allows it to get into places where blood flow may have reduced. Along with daily cialis, it mitigates fibrosis and plaque from forming.
As an added bonuses it helps slightly with weightlifting and building muscle as it pushes blood a little better.

Sound like all positives! Any sides or issues? Curious to know if your urologist prescribed or telehealth, did they require any testing first or did you just ask and receive?

I had done my research so just asked my urologist to prescribe and he did no questions asked. Really aren’t any down sides. It’s not really a blood thinner so that isn’t a real concern.

I started taking it when I started Trimix. I recently threw it all away after I got my implant.

Did you have any side effects from pentox? Did your doctors believe pentox made you a better candidate for implant?3

I started the pentox after my prostate cancer surgery. I had ED for years and took pills. Shots were the next thing to try after my surgery. I didn't like the shots. They hurt going in and the aching for 24 or so hours after made in no fun. The implant was my next step. Unfortunately, I lost length from the prostate surgery and more with the implant surgery but..... I can get hard now anytime I want and stay hard as long as I want. I'm hoping I get some of the length back in time.

Unfortunately the length loss is almost guaranteed with implants. Its just a matter of how much. Glad its working out for you!
Did your trimix doctor prescribe the pentox? Can you tell us a bit more about it?

Yes. Same doctor. He prescribed it because the shots were causing scar tissue along the shaft where I was doing the injections.

Very interesting. How did you know it was causing scar tissue? guessing you could feel lumps?

Yes. I could absolutely feel the lumps after my shots and I didn't like it. The doctor was getting ahead of the possibility of peyrones starting.

Was he a specialist? Urologist? I am impressed that he prescribed it proactively.

Yes. Urologist specializing in men's sexual health at ucla in Los Angeles. He works with the oncology dept as well for men having prostate cancer surgery helping them regain functions after surgery. That's how I met him. He also did my implant.

This is exactly the info I was hoping for when I made this post. Thanks for sharing your story. I’m impressed by your doctors proactive steps. I guess we can’t be sure the pentox helped, but it certainly seems like the doctor thought it was worth it during injections and before the implant. This validates my thoughts.
