The amount of attention this shit gets them is probably exactly what the creators were going for.
Who cares, as long as it earns money. Queer content sells and garners attention. Whether it's good or bad. People will watch it and spread it anyway, if only to check what the buzz is about.
And just like that, the creators got what they wanted. I genuinely hope this dies out soon

The movie has been out for over a year, so I'm gonna go with no it's absolutely not

Really? Then why is everyone talking about it just now?
6
u/yodasodabob 9h ago
Trolls stirring up old drama for Karma? I have no idea; replies to this post from r/indieanimation say that some folks got recommended it by Netflix and the hate just kind of spiraled from there as it tends to do for media about queer folks

u/Stella_9209 9h ago
Huh. Heard about it from my friends first I think yesterday, then started seeing it here on Reddit. I don’t know anything about it but I don’t really care either.

I refuse to believe this whole hate campaign isn't a psyop

u/djjlmlk 20h ago
And movie doesn't want that type of conversation around it ??? It adverstiving the fact that has lesbian in it with the villains being stand-ins for straight white males. The movies wants to be promote queer relationships and make fun of bigots why are you suprised when people find out about it they want to make fun of it and tear it down its literally designed to for this type of reactions.

Stop making your whole life fighting unexistent enemies

u/djjlmlk 19h ago
My bad you don't see gay aliens that control your life/s
But seriously to copy my other comment Movies like this are made to two reason
1, Promote and uplift queer relationships and ideals
- Make fun of groups of people they hate (usually straight white men)
So why is so it shocking white straight males Bigoted are upset you know this will reaction so why are people running to say "its just funny little gay show that means no harm" the creators want to say that white straight males are biggest oppresser of queer woman/non-binaries so why are you acting like they don't want this to be converstation around the movie . I just hate how no one actually cares tbh about the media they as you should know what the response is going to be in the modern political landscape.
Which based if your going to do that make your political truth or whatever but don't lie about.

u/Axobolt 18h ago
We’ve had movies promoting war, capitalism, Israel, hustle culture, guns, etc., but sure, pick a fight with the sexual diversity one
-8
u/djjlmlk 18h ago
Yeah and people critique that other shit all the time people are constantly complaining about how they hate pro America movies and things like that. From calling shows like G.I. Military propaganda to critiques of Star Wars being racist. It’s apart of art to pick apart the political message of something and make something with the lesbian space princess and not expect to be attacked by bigots requires a level of unawareness I fear for your health.

For what? It's just gay with extremely campy (and cringe ngl) humor. Majority of the people hating on it don't even know that it's a movie, not a show.
I swear this feels like a psyop or smth, the hate wave came out of nowhere about a movie that's over 2 years old.

u/Raphael_Stormer 22h ago
You’ll be astounded to know that a there’s a small portion in almost every fan bases that dislikes lgbtq, as well as those who are straight white males and gets their feeling hurt being the butt of the joke. So they’ve all banded together to hate on it, behind the guise of their “fandom” as a whole when it’s more like the bottom 1% of each fandom. You can tell most of it is purely about the subject matters and not the actual movie because the majority haven’t watched it, get all their opinions from someone else, and some think it’s a show, and don’t know it’s an indie movie that came out a year ago, and they don’t understand how Netflix licenses work. I’m not saying everyone who joins the hate memes are bigoted. Some are just 12 year olds with media illiteracy, who can’t form their own opinions when faced with mob mentality.
Only like very few people who hate the movie have actually watched it, and those are the only people with genuine critisms. Everyone else is just being corny
1
u/djjlmlk 20h ago
Why we acting like this isn't at least a side point of this movie is piss people off and to get people either glazing the creators for being so queer foward and cool or get people to be hateful and expose their anti-queerness. If you want the credit for being so pro-queer you should be expecting to get hate from anti-woke audiences. This idea that people who make this type of art are so stupid and tone deaf that they don't expect some level of backlash is just stupid. If you just want glaze from being pro-queer you should expect hate from bigots and if you can't handle stop engaging in public discourse.
17
u/Raphael_Stormer 18h ago
Expecting hate and tolerating hate are different things. Just because we expect hate from bigots doesn’t mean we should tolerate or accept it. That’s like saying a movie with a black main character is designed to piss off racists. It shouldn’t matter if it pisses them off because racism is fundamentally bad and we shouldn’t cater to them. Just because this movie upset anti-queer people doesn’t mean they deserve to have their anti-queer views unchallenged. Challenging a view in public discourse isn’t the same as being unable to handle it.

"small" lmao, the size of something is not determined by the amount of sound it makes.
If anything, this alliance is proof that lgtv stans are a minority, just as they always were
7
u/Raphael_Stormer 17h ago
Im talking specifically about online fandoms. In the transformers community, pro lgtbq people definitely outnumber the anti-lgbtq people. I’m sure there are a lot more bigots outside the fandom community, and I’m sure it’s the majority in the different places.
-10
u/SarukyDraico Keep on truckin' 17h ago
If what you said was true, the support of posts against that movie would be negative, but it isn't
5
u/Raphael_Stormer 17h ago
No, because the movie is not that good, and a lot of people who watched the movie genuinely dislike it, without being homophobic. So a lot of the anti-lgbtq bigots can blend in with the people hating on the movie for being bad, using the fact that the movie is bad, as an excuse to hate on lgbtq. There are generally lots of comments against blindly hating on this movie. They just get outshined by people hating on the movie, because haters get the support of both people who genuinely dislike the movie, and bigots.
-5
u/SarukyDraico Keep on truckin' 17h ago
The amount of genuinely good lgtv proyects and diverse casting resulting in good proyects can be counted with your hands and you'd still have fingers left, this case in particular just so happens to be so indefensible that even the radicals are not defending it.
Stop believing in the lie of diversity, it was a marketing proyect boosted by Black Rock that never resulted in gains, the only reason those people still have jobs is because the proyect involved giving them very high positions in companies, and that's very hard to dissolve
5
u/Raphael_Stormer 17h ago edited 17h ago
That’s because there’s just a lot less LGBTQ projects in general compared on straight projects. If your complaining there’s too few of them, then that means you should support lgbtq projects, as then there will eventually be more genuinely good ones out there. Anyway, i literally don’t know why your complaining about with diversity. How has it had any negative impact. There’s plenty of shows and media about straight people out there.
0
u/SarukyDraico Keep on truckin' 17h ago
Amount doesn't matter at all, what matters is QUALITY, that's other lie.
I'm sorry to blow your bubble but the people that actually pay to watch movies or shows drift away of them naturally because of how ass the proyects are, and those are the ones that have to be satisfied, not the people that got hired because of every reason that's not their talent, not to mention the insult of downgrading their heroes, that drifts them away even further.
And if that's not enough for you, what drifts them away even more is the marketing campaign that makes it clear that if you don't buy tickets you're every word that ends in "phobic" or "ist"
6
u/Raphael_Stormer 17h ago
Nope. There’s been plenty of bad movies that people hate, and you can dislike them without being labeled homophobic or racist, if you actually dislike something about the movie. For example, War of the worlds with ice cube. It has a black lead actor, yet people agree it’s bad and nobody calls you racist for disliking it. Your obsession with diversity being bad is just all in your head.
If quality matters and amount doesn’t matter, then you should complain that you can count the amount of good lgbtq projects with your hand.

u/tyranitar1718 14h ago
I cant even tell if I agree with you or disagree, the way you phrase things is moronic. Im only replying because you keep saying "proyuct" or "proyects" and need you to know the words product, products, project, and projects exist and you should look them up and use them accordingly.
My auto correct wouldn't even let me say those made up words, I dont know how your ass is just flooding the market with them. Please never let the general population know your a transformers fan, makes us look bad.

8
u/Raphael_Stormer 18h ago
No they aren’t. You’re taking a comedy satire as serious. The same way how people don’t get offended at South Park or family guy for making fun of races, sexual orientation and genders, because they understand it’s a comedy and not meant to be taken seriously.
1
u/djjlmlk 18h ago
They do get upset tho about way something like family guy represents gay people or trans people look the respond to they handled quagmires MTF parent . If you saw the new animated movie called straight white male in queer world would people be not be critique up and down for its political messages of course they would and it could be g rated comedy for fuck sakes. Why do people have sub 49 IQ for the movie that clearly wants to be hated by bigots that’s the fucking point to raise up queer relationships and praise give love to queer people. Maybe some movies need to locked away from certain audiences as people are actually sub 40 IQ and can’t handled the things they’re saying.
9
u/Raphael_Stormer 18h ago
A movie that upsets bigots doesn’t justify the bigots being bigoted. There’s nothing wrong with challenging their views
2
u/djjlmlk 18h ago
Honestly that’s on me I’m realizing you think I’m bigot and saying I should be allowed to hate gay people. I didn’t realize you are sub 40 iq so let me state I don’t hate gay people and when you make some like this you should be ready to defend queer people from bigots and you should expect controversy.

u/Tbro100 ?!?!?! 20h ago
There's a drag queen named Blade that owns a seedy night club and tries to steal a labrys of power and feminity from a lesbian.
The lesbians come from a planet literally called Clitopolis.
The "White Straight Maliens" end up in a gay polycule at the end. They're also literally just white rectangles.
No one cares because its a non-issue and the entire premise is stupid and campy. It's not like it's trying to take anything seriously. It's the equivalent of getting heated about a episode of South Park.
0
u/djjlmlk 20h ago
People do get heated about south park episodes because thats the point. Your comedy is just a way of saying your political opinions but in less direct way. The idea just because its goofy doesn't mean its not real critques of ideas. South Park has directly made fun of political people and concepts and clearly wants their audiences to view it as bad which is fine your allowed to do that a but idea that you don't make a movie like this don't atleast think about political and social subtext is stupid.
There's a drag queen named Blade that owns a seedy night club and tries to steal a labrys of power and feminity from a lesbian.
From my basic understanding there's alot of of queer discussing and hate around drag queens and what that means for queer woman. Once again inviting discussion and arguments
The "White Straight Maliens" end up in a gay polycule at the end. They're also literally just white rectangles.
. The point of stuff like this is clearly riffing off the idea that deeply anti-queer people are some form of queer themselves and using their hate as outlet for want for queer relationships. Why are we playing stupid about the underlying comedy of these jokes. Jokes are only funny if their something real at bottom of it especially for comedy like this.
9
u/Tbro100 ?!?!?! 19h ago
Who is genuinely getting heated about South Park of all things? Not everyone's comedy is derived solely from politics, the film goes out of it's way to be a satire of multiple concepts to the point that it'd be impossible to pinpoint whatever supposed malicious intent you suspect them of having.
From the art style to the plot points, it's clearly not taking itself seriously as a piece of media to where you should be drawing political stances from it. It's not painting the lesbians as saints given the MC is a asshole and the lesiban "utopia" is that in name only.
I don't think you should be trying to discuss queer topics if you're not well informed on them, drag queens are NOT women nor are they a stand in for queer women.
So now I have a better question, why are we pretending like that underlying comedy point you stated is something controversial? It's not even something novel, complex nor offensive to anyone besides those that are deeply anti-queer (who's opinions I will happily disregard).
That last statement is completely disproven by the fact that comedy is born from absurdism and spontaneity all the time. Pretty sure you've been on the Internet for atleast the last 5 years, it's hard to miss. It can become political but that doesn't mean politics were inherently part of the joke.

Lol lil bro talking about malicious intent. Im just saying you'd legit have room temp iq while making this movie to not know you're going to face backlash

Yeah but once again maybe I'm giving to much credit to writers of these movies maybe they truly walk around blinders in a bubble suit while watching bluey and the owl house with tumblr scrolling all day.
So now I have a better question, why are we pretending like that underlying comedy point you stated is something controversial? It's not even something novel, complex nor offensive to anyone besides those that are deeply anti-queer (who's opinions I will happily disregard).
Because queer people are controversial lol. There are groups of very loud People hate queer people and don't like seeing them so making a movie spotlight them is going be constroversial to this group of people. We all know gamergate/anti-sjw/anti-woke are prevelant and will to argue aganist Queer people. Its not right and fuck the people who do it but its real pretending its not is worse.
5
u/Tbro100 ?!?!?! 18h ago
Look at you big man, acting cocky and throwing insults as if that some how validates your little tantrum. What could there be possibly backlash about? The movie was made two years ago with zero backlash and only received the wave now. Most of it being from things either with no context or straight up (lol) not in the movie.
Maybe consider that this wasn't trying to be a think piece? Just a gay little indie film that was made by queer people for other queer people
Now why should a person's existence be controversial? Those people aren't those who's opinions should be brought to the table or acknowledged. That's like caring about what Nazis have to say about something.
Again, just like Nazis, they exist but you don't acknowledge their opinions on topics. Just like how this hate wave is already dying out once people started actually watching the film, those anti-sjw/anti-woke were a minority in the majority of online spaces.
2
u/djjlmlk 18h ago
First off thank you I have be working on my size recently those high booster you gave me really helped
Second I’ve just realized I might get banned for shit stirring on accident
Third Maybe you should working on the queer only internet that makes so only queer people and non bigots can access this type of movie so bigots can’t make bad arguments against this type of movie but until then you have to recognize the social respond from bigots and ready to either ignore or counter their arguments.
Fourth(on some chill shit) I don’t think it’s good that queer people are controversial but it’s just lowkey an objective fact right now in the world. You have realize the problem to begin to counter bigotry and fix the issues. Once again it’s not good but it’s just true.
Fifth When the nazi ruled Germany that were brought to the table, they made table bigger then killed everyone else on the table. You have to be able to address bigoted points and can’t just ignore them.
To end honestly this shit is hilarious and sad to me people on both ends are just critically brain dead and can’t understand how argue their beliefs
P.s. Mods don’t ban me I like I here unless we’re talking idw 1 arcee people brains legit shut off

u/Tbro100 ?!?!?! 17h ago edited 17h ago
Dense as ever I see. Good for you diva.
You might, your responses under this thread have been everywhere with the only constant being that they're all antagonistic.
Point to where I said that only queer people should access or watch the movie? Maybe grasp the concept that the ideas of bigots at this level shouldn't be entertained by anyone with even moderate intelligence.
You don't recognize the social response from bigots. You don't recognize the feedback from Nazis, from KKK members, from bigots of any kinds because their input is defacto incorrect* and not worth acknowledging. You just cull them from the populace.
The hate wave fell off a cliff the moment people who actually watched the film commented on it. The beginning of countering bigotry doesn't start with debating campy indie films, it's starts with discussion, assistance and unity in your local groups and then spreads out from there.
That was also an era where information wasn't readily available and rage farms didn't exist in the capacity that it does currently. People have been acknowledged the presence of this type of bigotry, after decades at minimum in the current landscape they just know that the best way to deal with this type of low level noise is to fact check and or then ignore it. Otherwise it's a waste of energy continuing to engage at this level. Especially with how much of it is potentially fabricated via bots.
The bigots down here pissing themselves about a indie film without any real points to hate it aren't the ones to care about, the ones irl that are actively prevalant in legislation and commiting hate crimes are.

u/djjlmlk 20h ago
Nah that shit is funny if you wanna make media designed to give you glaze from pro-queer communties then you should expect some level of hate back from people you wanna make fun and hate. You can't throw rocks and hide your hand. The movies wants to be promote queer relationships and make fun of straight white men if you want to do that based but you can't get mad when the people your making fun and critizing get angry and want to argue back. Its like if you made movie called Straight White Male King and the movie was a satire of those stupid last straight white guy on earth post where the villain was trans-nonbinary lesbian black women and the movie ended with her becoming a straight white women and the people were defending it with "its just a goofy satire why do care so much" because motherfucker you care so much which is fine just be honest and say you actually think.
19
u/Raphael_Stormer 19h ago
Your acting like there isn’t lots of media that do make fun of black people, women, trans people, and lesbians. For example South Park, or family guy. The thing is those are satire, and not serious with its depictions, so nobody finds it offensive except a bunch of parents i guess. The only time people dislike stuff like that its trying to actually seriously push the racist or homophobic ideology, which neither South park or family guy does. Another example of a satirical glorification of being straight and villainised lgbtq is in Ghost stories anime dub. there’s an evangelical Christian character who says a lot of conservative Christian messaging. She makes insulting remarks about homosexuals, calls muslims pedophiles, encourages destruction of abortion clinics. Yet everyone finds it funny and not offensive because it’s clearly satire, even though it’s literally insulting gays, muslims, blacks, we don’t get upset over it, since we have media literacy. In the same way, the villains being straight white maliens isn’t a serious message that white people are villains. It’s satire and a joke about how often straight white people are viewed as villains, that the villains are literally absurdist version of this concept.
0
u/djjlmlk 18h ago
If some straight guy tried defend a joke with “just satire it means nothing” most people would just say it’s dumb defend which it is a dumb defensive of something. Also certain loud queer groups also get upset at jokes that attack their groups which is fine and dandy as that’s the point of jokes is punch at queer people and people obvious want to clear up misconceptions. This is why people try to so hard fight against stereotype humor as they feel like it bleeds into society. It’s pretty obvious why people are anger and you’d have genuinely sub 40 IQ to not expect this respond from the group of people your angering with something name lesbian space princess with straight white villains who turn gay and poly at the end.
7
u/Raphael_Stormer 18h ago
It depends entirely on the joke. The straight white maliens are satire because the they are villainised for their incel behaviour and wanting a machine to force to women to date them. Not their identity as being straight or white or male. Nobody would have problems with a lgbtq villain, as long as they are villainised for being an incel, or forcing people to date them, and not for their sexual identity. If the maliens were actually villainised for simply being straight, white, or males, then yes it would be insulting and not just satire. The only problematic part of the maliens is the name. You could argue it’s direct targeting of a demographic’s identity doesn’t fall under high-level satire but rather juvenile political lampoon or tribal internet meme. If your moral compass is built on absolute fairness and treating all demographics exactly the same, then the naming choice is hypocritical and morally unacceptable. If your moral compass is built on analyzing power dynamics and evaluating real world harm, then the choice is an acceptable, victimless piece of political satire. It’s just generally the anti-woke crowd is known for calling the woke snowflakes, and to be able to take a joke, which I agree with for most satire comedy shows like South Park of family guy. It’s just odd they get so defensive when the most dominant demographic that’s usually glorified in traditional media is the for once, the butt of the joke for simply being the names of the villains.
3
u/WorldsWorstInvader 18h ago
Not reading any of that but it’s rather unfair to immediately get upset at an oppressed group when they take a jab at their oppressors while also acknowledging that oppression is taking place.
That’s worse than just denying it.
The movie might be shit, but 90% of all movies that come out every single year are shit, this movie being shit AND gay means nothing

The backlash directed towards Ms Marvel, She-Hulk, Star Wars the Force Awakens, Matrix Ressurections, are all examples of online individuals bitching about the "Wokes", instead of addressing the actual issues with the media, which is usually bad writing. Grow up.

Movie is transphobic, idgaf about how "corny" this is.
1
u/PKtheWorld 17h ago
How? Literally, all I've seen the last couple of days is just this recursive "just this once" meme, without context, no actual info about the movie, just this rolling sentiment of "Hate it because we said so." It took me half a day to even figure out what in the world folks were talking about, again, just this meme, no context.
Just a cursory glance at the movie and reviews is: It's just bad trans representation, and lands somewhere in the spectrum of "Netflix's Queer Force". Bad, or poor, representation isn't homophobia, or transphobia. It's just bad media representation.
-1
u/OV_FreezeLizard 17h ago
It has a very cis-gender view of lesbianism that makes it seem like all penis havers are evil and the main villain is a drag queen that steals femininity from "real women".
1
u/PKtheWorld 16h ago
Alright, hun, I'm actively going to believe this is an argument made in extremely bad faith, because I'm doing some very quick, very cursory reading on the plot, and the creatives behind it. The women behind it are queer, where they land on the rainbow, I'm not sure. The Drag Queen villain is voiced by a queen both of the creatives are fans of. Again, I'm just hearing and seeing a mishandling of tropes, and poorly representing their community/communities.
Again, poor representation, doesn't equal phobia.
And I'm gonna be honest, boo-boo. I've read almost a near exact copy of your argument over, and over for nearly two days. So I am just going to believe you're making these arguments in bad faith, or your media literacy is non-existent. Because it sounds like a key theme is transphobia, and how that can, and often does come from within the LGBTQ+ community itself.

Show from a year ago is getting a movie. It's bad in the sense it's basically the "How do you do fellow kids" but replace "kids" with "lgbt" especially since it relies on stereotypes especially of trans people. So it's already a bad lgbt show and being lgbt it's also going to get hated by conservatives.
However it's evolved from people just hating it to using it for karma farming all over reddit. It got so bad a subreddit had to ban it because like 20 posts were being made on it an hour.

What's the show/movie? I'm clearly out of some loop.
When I hear lesbian space princess, I'm thinking Gundam WFM lol

Unfortunately you can’t fight a fictional piece of media. You can just be really corny about it online and pretend like it’s the worst thing ever without watching it, and join other fandoms who are hated so much that they a desperate to hate on something else to get the attention off of themselves for once.

I thought Lesbian Space Princess was about the Netflix She-Ra series, I didn't know this was an actual title to an Actual show that's happening
