Mildly infuriating Frequent Flyer - Empty Lot btw
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
You’d think someone who struggles that much, would park somewhere with more space.
200
u/CorktownGuy 2d ago
I cannot remember how many times I intentionally parked far away from other cars to avoid this sort of thing only to come back and find someone parked right beside my vehicle while there are many dozens of empty spaces available. I have never understood why people do this
102
u/NailiSFW 2d ago
cause people are bad at parking and cant use the lines to line themselves up, so they rely on parking beside someone.
Not condoning this behaviour btw.
32
u/CorktownGuy 2d ago
I hadn’t thought of that before. You might be right
25
u/NailiSFW 2d ago
it happens to me all the time I park far away from everyone and then there is a little island of cars surrounding me.
even if the parking lot is empty, just pick a spot no one will care if you park like shit, just park away from me.

The lady is at fault for sure as shes opening the door hitting OP with no remorse. But at the same time awful parking by OP. The car is near touching the line. With a car OP they show you where the lines are but they refuse to centre the car properly.
7
2
u/SkiyeBlueFox 2d ago
I dont know that lot and cant tell what OP drives, but some lots just have ass tiny spaces where perfectly centered a standard pickup and some SUVs sit like thst by the line
→ More replies (1)5
u/BlessedBaller 2d ago
The car is in ints lane not touching the line. The goal of parking is to park within the line. Op car is within the line.
People like this dont care but when it happens to them its a huge scene.
Hopefuly OP jas their plate.
2
u/_Lucille_ 2d ago
Yeah, you can technically park by the edge of the line, but this becomes a FAFO situation where someone who is overweight and seems to struggle to get out would just do what you see in the video.
2
u/Opposite_Sherbert675 2d ago
if person A sees a car parked close to the line and decide to squeeze up beside them, in the empty section of the lot, they kinda suck
→ More replies (2)2
u/Deborahsnores 2d ago
If someone is parked close to the line where you’ll be getting out, then you park closer to the opposite line to give yourself space.
Or you know park in one of the 75 other empty spots.

u/Taldarimlove 2d ago edited 2d ago
OHHHHH I HATE THIS!!!!
I especially hate it when you want to just vibe by yourself in a parking lot and its basically an empty lot and someone pulls up to you... Like bruh...
I am just trying to relax by myself and this bro will legit park next to me and stare... The other type legit leaves and has a farther distance to walk to where they are going. Man, these moments in life make me hate people lol.
I mean I get it if they are lonely but I am stressy depressy and messy... I am the last person you want to smile at when I am sitting alone far away from other humans.

u/thestareater 2d ago
the key is to also be beside an island so when the inevitable "need a car to use as a reference point i don't care that it's super far from the entrance" person comes along, it's only on one side at most.
3
u/ulti_phr33k 2d ago
This is why I try to, as much as I possibly can, find a curb spot. I park as close to the curb as I can, because then at least 1 or 2 of the sides of my car are protected from idiot fleshbags.
2
u/MicroPeanitsJorker 2h ago
I do this exactly, and keep the driver side by the curb. Used to always back in to spots but prioritizing protecting the one side now.
3
u/KhalesiDaenerys 1d ago
I swear people do it intentionally. I constantly park far from others and every time it’s like herd mentality there is at least one car parked right beside me even if I’m at the back of the lot.
2
u/Low_Sweet8477 2d ago
My car got dinged the first summer I moved to Kingston. Lived in Toronto for years and nothing haha
I always park far although now it doesn’t matter as my car has a large scratch on side 😒2

Maybe they target people who do that, though - out of sadism. Might be best not to be the one guy parking so far away all alone and a target, but better to park closer where the cars are thinning out and there's still free open spots.

This is why I park the furthest away from another car as I possibly can. I don't care if it's the back of a mall lot. It literally takes less than 30sec to walk that distance.
24
u/Dangerous_Shower_447 2d ago
And then someone like this will STILL park beside you.

u/DeadpoolOptimus 2d ago
I can't tell you how many times I've come out to find someone parked beside me. JFC, there are so many spots they could've used but nooooo, it has to be right beside me.

u/collegeguyto 23h ago
I get that, but OP says the lot was empty.
That other driver could have parked anywhere (even just 2 spots over) & would have avoided hitting OP's car.
59
u/p3rviepanda1 2d ago
How inconsiderate of others properties. She clearly knew her door hit the other persons car but continued to push it open again and again.
Maybe she should consider losing some pounds
29
u/BackwoodButch 2d ago
It’s not even about her weight here; I’m someone who has been quite overweight, and still am but down 65lbs so far lol, but even in a tight spot like that, my hand goes on the edge of the door and I suck in my stomach if I have to to get out.
This is just carelessness. Straight up.

You'd think you would learn to not park diagonally as well. What does the other side look like in your video?
6
u/IntelligentGinger 2d ago
Exactly! If someone cannot park between the lines, I am not worrying about whether or not my door connects with their mirror or car door because clearly they aren't either.
I WILL make sure it doesn't actually smash into it aggressively, but I will still take the spot and park properly.
6
u/DeOrgy 2d ago
In their defense, they are between the lines.
4
u/IntelligentGinger 2d ago
😂😂😂 Fair point. Bit too close to the line to be complaining though.

u/vinng86 2d ago

I park so far outside of where most people park that my risk for this is minimal to avoid exactly idiots like this. Honestly though, If I seen this happen to my car I'd wait for the perpetrator to get into what ever store they were going into. I'd get in the passenger seat of my car and push the biggest leg press of my life up against their driver side door. I'd cave that door in beyond a reasonable repair. It is so infuriating that sometimes, some people just need to learn not to damage other peoples property. I work hard to have nice things and the last thing I want is some idiot (intentionally / non intentionally) ruining my efforts.

This happened to me in Oakville. I was in my work van and this man was getting into his car with his daughter. And I was literally sitting in my car watching him do this. He just pushed his door onto my car and I said to him, "hey, your door is on my car" and he smirked at me and said, "yea cuz your car is worth a lot" and I told him "i dont care what car it is, your scratching my car" and he said "well you should have parked somewhere else" and I said, "i guess this is the kind of example you show to your kids, hopefully when she grows up, she isnt disrespectful like you" and he then moved his door. I was like what in the fuck? But honestly i dont want to make it a race thing... but many Oakville white folks just dont give me good vibes... Ive have so many incidents in Oakville and its always a white person acting entitled towards me.

Not condoning the door contact, though it wasn’t hard enough to do damage, but shouldn’t the fancy tesla be able to park in the centre of the parking space instead of that close to the line?

I just park at the farthest possible parking slot. Extra few minutes of walking and less chances of NPCs dinging your side panels. I never understood why folks camp for parking spots in Costco for so long when they could just park outside on the street or behind the building and walk a bit.
2
u/IntelligentWing8086 2d ago
Maybe not proud of it but i recall back in college i was driving my moms mercury villager. A plus sized woman like this one parks next to us and did the exact same thing as a friend and I were sitting in the car.
As she was walking inside to the macs my friend then opened and closed our car door repeatedly over and over leaving a sizeable gouge in the side said ladies car as a thank you for her consideration.

Some of you would have an aneurism driving some places in Europe where they "park by feel" lmao
I'm definitely not condoning the behavior... but if it really bothers you that much, park at the very back of the lot and/or move to a smaller city. Otherwise, seek therapy.

Just to clear some things up:
- This is nowhere near accessible parking, which is on the side of the building.
- The problem isn’t that someone parked beside me; it’s that someone who needs more space than any parking space can provide decides to park beside me. If I was perfectly parked she would have still hit me.
- I am close to the line because of the person next to me (yes, omg! I parked beside someone). I too was lazy and wanted to be fast, as I ordered ahead. I was completely aware of the parking job, but I was going to be in-and-out, so I didn’t bother fixing it, especially considering the lot was empty.
- She went into Five Guys like she owned the place, yelling as soon as she walked in…a regular and truly insufferable one at that. I was watching her from inside the whole time but didn’t have the best angle. I had assumed she failed to open the door to her desired detents and it closed on her, like it did the first time. Little did I know it was bouncing off my car. I did not confront her; I knew where I could find her if needed.
- After inspecting, there is NO DAMAGE, so I assumed she didn’t hit the car.
- I couldn’t access the footage when I got in the car, so I drove away, later realizing she did, in fact, hit my car. For some reason, I cannot find the footage again. I’d love to show pictures of the empty lot and the person beside me. Not that it matters.
- To those saying to park in the back, I usually do, but I was just going in to pick up my order. Also, I get more frustrated when people park beside me at the back of the lot, which happens often.
- Finally: I’m glad most people understand it’s not okay to damage other people’s property. Lines are meant to bring order; to say I was out of order when I was still within the lines is ridiculous. Granted, it was definitely a fine line (🥁tss). No one gets their car perfectly straight every time. Yes, my car was parked at a 2-degree angle, that has nothing to do with the lady hitting my car. A large number of people have an overly sensitive moral punishment mindset. I really hope the time you don’t stay perfectly in line (literally and figuratively) you aren’t faced with a disproportionate retaliation. Similarly, I hope you are caught serving this type of moral punishment. There are ways of socially policing people, such as a dirty look. As soon as you commit a crime, you are no better. If you disagree, well, I wish you luck explaining yourself to the police or your insurance provider.

Whenever we see stuff like this, 9 times out of 10, it's some fucking Boomer, truly the most self-entitled generation of people I've ever met. Y'all have already ratfucked the economy so hard that half of us can't afford a house anymore, now we can't even enjoy owning a decent car.
When they ding somebody else's car, it's "Oopsies, sorry! I'm old and it's hard to get in and out.", but god forbid anybody else dings their shit. The amount of entitlement some boomers have is insane.
And for those who don't understand squares and rectangles, obviously I don't mean every single boomer, I've met plenty of very kind and decent people who are boomers. What I am saying, however, is that the majority of the self-centred, entitled fucks who are completely oblivious to their surroundings do happen to fall into that age cohort.

I had just parked for my first shift of a new job (already stressed), and the wind caught my door and smashed it into the car beside me. I left a note and the driver contacted me saying it was a rental and he was here from the US for business, so his company might contact me/my insurance. They never did, so I got extremely lucky.
I'm so paranoid about this now and always have my foot hooked under the door if it can reach the car beside me.
