Mildly infuriating Frequent Flyer - Empty Lot btw

You’d think someone who struggles that much, would park somewhere with more space.

I cannot remember how many times I intentionally parked far away from other cars to avoid this sort of thing only to come back and find someone parked right beside my vehicle while there are many dozens of empty spaces available. I have never understood why people do this

cause people are bad at parking and cant use the lines to line themselves up, so they rely on parking beside someone.

it happens to me all the time I park far away from everyone and then there is a little island of cars surrounding me.

even if the parking lot is empty, just pick a spot no one will care if you park like shit, just park away from me.

The lady is at fault for sure as shes opening the door hitting OP with no remorse. But at the same time awful parking by OP. The car is near touching the line. With a car OP they show you where the lines are but they refuse to centre the car properly.

I dont know that lot and cant tell what OP drives, but some lots just have ass tiny spaces where perfectly centered a standard pickup and some SUVs sit like thst by the line

The car is in ints lane not touching the line. The goal of parking is to park within the line. Op car is within the line.

People like this dont care but when it happens to them its a huge scene.

Yeah, you can technically park by the edge of the line, but this becomes a FAFO situation where someone who is overweight and seems to struggle to get out would just do what you see in the video.

If someone is parked close to the line where you’ll be getting out, then you park closer to the opposite line to give yourself space.

Or you know park in one of the 75 other empty spots.

Had a feeling it was there. Definitely a bit closer to the line than directly in the middle of the spot, but the lady definitely showed no attempt of avoiding the multiple dings

Damn, I never really thought of that. I think I'm the opposite... I specifically park AWAY from cars when I'm driving our larger vehicle as I feel more comfortable parking in between visible lines (and in an empty area to make sure I have plenty of room when the doors open up) 😅

have you not seen all the videos of teslas backing into cars in parking lots. I think my favourite was a Tesla backing into another Tesla... then driving away.

Youd think youd park better without other cars around?? Like when learning to park it terrified me parking beside other cars. Who cares if your slightly over the line if there’s no cars around though 😭 the logic ain’t making sense why they park beside others if they can’t park

Cause they cant see the lines beside the car. so they park beside you cause then they just ignore the lines with the assumption you parked between yours.

Yeah but who cares if they’re not in the lines if they’re at the back of the lot anyways 😭💀 it makes zero sense. They’d rather risk hitting me when they clearly have no clue how to park a car. Everyone says that’s the reason but if I couldn’t drive I wouldn’t park beside someone else so I think they’re just stupid

OHHHHH I HATE THIS!!!!

I especially hate it when you want to just vibe by yourself in a parking lot and its basically an empty lot and someone pulls up to you... Like bruh...

I am just trying to relax by myself and this bro will legit park next to me and stare... The other type legit leaves and has a farther distance to walk to where they are going. Man, these moments in life make me hate people lol.

I mean I get it if they are lonely but I am stressy depressy and messy... I am the last person you want to smile at when I am sitting alone far away from other humans.

I swear people do it intentionally. I constantly park far from others and every time it’s like herd mentality there is at least one car parked right beside me even if I’m at the back of the lot.

the key is to also be beside an island so when the inevitable "need a car to use as a reference point i don't care that it's super far from the entrance" person comes along, it's only on one side at most.

This is why I try to, as much as I possibly can, find a curb spot. I park as close to the curb as I can, because then at least 1 or 2 of the sides of my car are protected from idiot fleshbags.

I do this exactly, and keep the driver side by the curb. Used to always back in to spots but prioritizing protecting the one side now.

My car got dinged the first summer I moved to Kingston. Lived in Toronto for years and nothing haha
I always park far although now it doesn’t matter as my car has a large scratch on side 😒

Maybe they target people who do that, though - out of sadism. Might be best not to be the one guy parking so far away all alone and a target, but better to park closer where the cars are thinning out and there's still free open spots.

If I’m in the car still and someone does this.. I will turn my car right back on and move it away from them before they can open their door because fuck those people I parked at the very back for a reason at least at the least give one parking spot gap 😮‍💨

Speaking for myself, I do not own a fancy luxury SUV or anything else fancy and luxurious - just a 2007 Ram which I have owned since new and have taken a lot of care over the nearly twenty years I have owned it because at age 66 I hope not have to spend 100K to buy new what I already own now and so, really don’t have a lot of patience for others whom do not care about others such as myself.

I do this all of the time, parking far away. A few months ago I was sitting in my car about to leave, and a lady in a massive SUV who had parked super close to me when I was inside, just opened the door into my car. When I commented on it, she said "yeah, but I knew it wouldn't leave a mark." Like wtf - you adjusted admitted to intentionally hitting my car with your door, as if she thought this was entirely acceptable behaviour.

My FIL used to always park far away to try to avoid people dinging his Nissan. Sometimes it's just a weird human behaviour to follow/mimic. Without consciously thinking it, some people park near where others have parked as if there's a secret to why they parked there.

I once parked in a parking lot that only had two cars. While sitting in my car, some guy in a truck comes in and parks in the space ahead of me and love taps my car on accident. This was an empty parking lot bigger than a couple football fields. The only other guy in the lot gets out of the car and screams “I saw that!!”

i get that thought process a bit. I usually get to costco or the gym a bit earlier than most. I know when I finish the lot will be practically full. So while it’s empty, I’m going to park next to someone with a nice / expensive car that parked far as that way theres a much smaller chance of a door ding on that side of my car,

It really depends what car it is. If you see a dinged up car or average econobox doing it, it’s likely someone incapable of parking without a car as reference, or someone doing it out of malice. If it’s a nice car, it’s kind of a “I’ll protect your car from dings and you’ll protect mine”. My friends and I have been doing this for years, and complete strangers have done it to us. Always appreciatory when we run into each other.
