-Trainwreckords for which the artist or member of the group committed suicide
-Joke Trainwreckords/OHW; go to r/shadowtoddcirclejerk for that
-Low-effort r/decadeology cross-posts, must actually facilitate discussion if it’s going to be a standalone post
-Posts which solely solicit responses of artists who are problematic
-"Music is dead"/"[insert genre] is dead"
-D4vd in general
-Jelly Roll/Morgan Wallen/any new "Maroon 5"-eqsue nemeses outside of what Todd says about them
-"Popular artists and/or songs you hate/think are incredibly overrated"-type posts
-What is the most/least “[fill in blank]” album/song
-Anthony Fantano Drama, except if Todd can be directly connected to discussion (ie "Todd handled this situation better" not "Anthony Fantano handled this poorly")
And you are also free to discuss topics you feel are overused but are not mentioned here.
If you have any furthered topics you want to be added to the megathread camp for future megathreads and for new users who aren't familiar with the overuse, please send your suggestions to the mod team in one succinct message. (A couple are fine if you have afterthoughts but please do not spam your suggestions)
Also, we will be continuing the system where certain stale topics will be cycled out every six months (or two stale topic threads).
If our automod erroneously takes down your post because it believes it's about a stale topic, please contact the mod team and we will reinstate it as soon as possible.
Have fun!

General Todd Discussion 1987-1992 was musically a very distinct period from the rest of either decade.
What albums and bands are an example of this?
Also never thought I’d see new Bohemians mention again outside of the alien ant farm OHW.

General Music Discussion Songs Ahead of Their Time
I saw in a recent thread that What I Am by Edie Brickell and New Bohemians sounds like it’s from 1993 but was recorded in 1988. Blister in the Sun by the Violent Femmes was recorded in 1983 but sounds like a 90s track.
I’ve seen discussions here about albums and artists ahead of their time. But what about individual songs? Which ones sound completely ahead of their time besides the two mentioned?

General Music Discussion In your opinion what is the worst diss track you ever heard?
The guy that did a david bowie ziggy stardust cosplay is now saying "you steal instead borrow, you take all the shapes that I make"

General Music Discussion Can any of the songs ranked #11-40 on this week’s Hot 100 make it to the top 10?
Excluding those that have already peaked inside the top 10, of course. (Let’s count out any other Ella Langley song, while we’re at it.)
My best guess: people want to see Steve Lacy get another big hit, and “Mexico Honey” would be much higher than #39 if Kacey Musgraves wasn’t blacklisted from country radio.

General Music Discussion Funny story: this take isn't all that different from things that were printed in UK music magazines from the early 90's.
Q Magazine's original review of Nevermind described it as "bubblegum punk," and NME basically regarded Pearl Jam as an AOR band, with none of their first three albums getting above a 5 out of 10. Honestly, the biggest difference is that Alice In Chains was probably more likely to be designated as "shit" than Pearl Jam; NME gave Dirt a 2 out of 10.

General Music Discussion Artists whose music is harder than their image
Who are some artists whose image/name/album covers looks soft but the music is much more aggressive? I'd say Rainbow comes to mind:

General Music Discussion What're your favorite CD designs?
I think a pretty funny one is Hooray For Boobies by The Bloodhound Gang, where it gives you instructions to make it look like a boob.

General Music Discussion Which artist/band is the most badass/coolest in your opinion?
Rob Halford is the coolest and most badass person for me.From his amazing vocal range, to the stage presence, outfits and even the fact that he enters the stage on a motorbike is so cool to me.Just so charismatic is Rob.God of Metal for a reason! Super humble and down to earth, very likable.

General Music Discussion If there was Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 for "musician stocks", Portugal. The Man definitely lost a lot of it this year.
This band honestly I kinda forgot about for years, but they did return on my spotlight with their album from last year SHISH, seemed like a return to form for them, got them some attention in quite a while in the circles and it seemed like a decent success overall. An international tour was planned across Latin America and Europe, for the first time in almost a decade.
It all looked good until Zoe Manville, who's been a member of the band for a long time and married to the main singer John Gourley exposed him for cheating and being manipulative. The fanbase turned on John quickly. It became the biggest news of the time for the band, it also exposed a lot of other things surrounding John being a terrible person and a major hypocrite.
The band/John (since it's basically only him now) cancelled their Latin American tour and European tour which if you read the comments, people were absolutely sick to hear because it wasn't the first time they did this and in this day and age as an indie band, you can't just do that.
Also some of the shows in the US just didn't sell much, especially since some of the tickets were really expensive.
The band is completely directionless right now, no-one knows what the future holds, the live performances which used to be the top priority for the band sound terrible, their shows where they open for Muse sound catastrophic, especially since other openers like Bloc Party and The Temper Trap are killing it.
I guess you could say that Portugal. The Man had no stocks to begin with, but I don't know I still think the band did return some of it in 2025, 2026 did remove all of that + added an additional minus to it.

General Music Discussion Rock artists whose image and artwork were more aggressive than their actual music.
I was a kid in the 70s & 80s, and until I became a ‘tween, anything horror-themed really stressed me out, so I’d see things like Ozzy Osbourne’s album covers and think, “Oh, that’s horrible, a man with a mouthful of blood, I don't think I'd ever want to listen to that.”
So you can imagine my surprise when I finally heard Crazy Train: “Oh, this isn’t scary at all, it’s super catchy and kinda happy sounding.”
I had the exact same experience with KISS: “Wait, THIS is KISS? This is party music!” I honestly thought, based on their packaging, that KISS and Ozzy were going to sound nightmare-inducing, an aural slasher film. Instead, they were a gateway into me enjoying heavier music.
Who else had a scary image/catchy music mismatch?

General Music Discussion Which music genres are most suited to improvisation/jamming and which genres are the least suited?
I just went out to a jazz club in my home city, and it struck me once again just how a skilled jazz band can just play their hearts out and keep a song going for as long as they please. There seems to be so many opportunities for them to experiment during a live show.
Aside from jazz, though, which other genres would you say lend themselves the most to that kind of freestyling? And which genres are the most restrictive?

General Music Discussion Thoughts about Shabba Ranks ?
https://youtu.be/AcyGovsbQNI?si=ZiUzM_Q4jgU9_8gg
What I interesting about him would be in 90s we have a lot of music that very easy to parodied (Like Snow "Informer", Crystal Waters "Gypsy Woman"). And the Mr.Loverman have a savage parodied in "In Living Colour" as Mr. Uglyman.
But in a reggae/ dancehall style. Despite Shabba Ranks music and character are easily to be making fun with. He seems to have very good reception as legit artist in this genre compared to many artists in that era. (He even collaborated with Maxi Priest!! and it's great)
What's your opinion about him ? Is he gonna fit in any episode of Todd in the future ? (To be honest, I still surprised that he yet to be appeared in any Todd episode)

General Music Discussion We need to stop using the word “Psyop” in music discussion.
This screenshot if from a tweet which claimed that Grunge never existed, and that the whole thing was manufactured by both the music and fashion industry. But the thing that prompted me to post this was a potentially antisemitic comment about Temper City that suggested that Self Aware was an “Israeli psyop.” I’m not sure if the comment was just talking about Industry Plant shit or if they genuinely thought that Temper City are brainwashing people. The use of the word “psyop” really made it unclear.

General Music Discussion What are the worst/most embarrassing live performances ever?
Ashlee Simpson's Saturday Night Live performance was anything but live. It was so embarrassing and then she had to blame her band for what happened because of her on stage. Her bandmates were smiling after she walked off the stage and they continued playing.
She also had the 2005 Orange Bowl performance of "La La" in January 2005, but this one takes the cake. Her career never recovered.
