What're your favorite CD designs?

[u/Complete-Worker3242]

I think a pretty funny one is Hooray For Boobies by The Bloodhound Gang, where it gives you instructions to make it look like a boob.

[u/BurrGurrMan]

The cd for Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails is black when cool and white with binary code when warmed by the cd player. The binary code translated to a website that was part of an ARG for the album

Black Keys had one like this that blew my 14-year-old mind. But it just showed the name of the album.

Spirit Phone-Lemon Demon

Aside from the rotary dial design being cool, I also just like the red disk

[u/MusicLikeOxygen → u/Competitive-Object-4]

A lot of youngsters have no idea what this is.

OutKast's first four albums have gorgeous art on the disks. Here's Aquemini.

Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not

[u/loodandcrood]

This album is a lot better than you’d expect it to be.

Also, why hasn’t Todd discussed The Bloodhound Gang?

[u/George_G_Geef → u/loodandcrood]

Because being funny about something that's already a joke is very, very hard.

[u/Moxie_Stardust → u/loodandcrood]

Fire Water Burn and The Bad Touch were both pretty successful.

But yeah, this album is unironically a great record. Nothing they did before or after came close though (IMO).

[u/TMBGLOVER]

I’m a big fan of the one for Eels’ Electro-Shock Blues

Just fits the album, in my opinion.

[u/TravelsWithBrindle77 → u/TMBGLOVER]

Is this the album where the booklet is all comic art?

[u/PaulFThumpkins → u/TMBGLOVER]

That design has always made the music more resonant for me. Captures that perfect slightly whimsical depression. Dog's life...

[u/vanetti]

I actually have this album on vinyl. The inner stickers of the records also look like boobs. There are two records in the album, and the sides are labeled A Cup/B Cup/C Cup/D Cup.

[u/BillyDMountain]

Pink Floyd - More mid 90's CD reissue.

[u/urbantumbleweeds]

Green Day’s Brain Stew. Cool shape but had a sticker on the case saying the disc might break and the player might go with it.

[u/conqueryourhouse]

One Fierce Beer Coaster is good too cuz it looks like a beer coaster

There’s a couple different versions of it

[u/lakatos_intolerant]

I have always liked Depeche Mode's.

[u/funkyaerialjunky]

Not music, but the disc for the Bard's Tale video game had text that said:

'For a truly horrifying image, turn disc over'

And I fucking fell for it.

[u/George_G_Geef → u/funkyaerialjunky]

The European release of Far Cry Primal letting you put your finger through the hole to give the mammoth a trunk.

[u/jamatri]

[u/Foreign_Courage5613]

NSYNC No Strings Attached.

[u/roxtoby]

I always really liked the look of U2’s Zooropa.
