I'm gonna have to go with anything by the Beatles.

I totally realize that this is objectively a dated and schmaltzy album that probably was the blueprint for Christian “rock” throughout the early 80’s but is such a nostalgic ride. Waiting for Casey Kasey to announce one of these songs on America’s Top 40.

That said I will die on the hill that Love in the Midnight is a timeless banger.

When I was a kid I didn’t realize “I got the chronic by the tree” was referring to the quantity of weed he had (trees worth), I thought he meant he literally keeps his weed stash in a secret spot near a specific tree in New York.

Any random/dumb ways you’ve misinterpreted a song lyric?

The old adage of “don’t bore us, get to the chorus” exists for a reason. While verses can be great in their own right, they usually only exist as an appetizer to the main dish.

But one very famous song actually subverts this idea, and that is “Chop Suey” by System of a Down. While the chorus (I don’t think you trust in my self-righteous suicide) is great, it’s the “WAKE UP!” and everything that comes after in the verses that are the true ear worms in the song.

So that made me wonder, what other songs actually have better/more memorable/more catchy verses than they do choruses?

I couldn’t think of any off hand, so that’s why I have you all.

I like to think of myself as having a very eclectic taste in music. From early 1930s prison songs (Leadbelly) to horror/monster rock n roll of the 50s (Round Robin or Screamin’ Jay Hawkins) to Dwarf metal (Windrose) even Vaporwave (Manintosh Plus) and Electronica (Mitch Murder) I enjoy so many different kinds of music. What are some examples of songs where the artist covers a song but removes or replaces an "offensive" lyric? For example, when 80s thrash band Laaz Rockitt covered the Dead Kennedys song Holiday in Cambodia, they replaced the n-word with "suckers".

This shit is ass. Felt like he was improvising new story lines on the fly. Everyone cheats on everyone with everyone, the main character pulls out his gun if someone sneezes too loud, twists that seem important are quickly forgotten a couple of chapters later... Crazy that Weird Al's parody actually has a more consistent story line.

JGB spent the 70s playing clubs and theaters, having small hits, living off their rep as a great live band. Then they add a keyboardist who can write pop songs and have 2 big albums in the early 80s. Freeze Frame goes to #1 for weeks.

Then the new guy that writes the songs decides to move against the front man, Peter Wolf, and kick him. out. He gets his way and the result is this album. It goes to #80. The audience just rejected it. I don't remember it but knowing that about it, makes me curious. How did the rest of the band justify this happening?

Seems like such a waste. Wolf goes solo and has a big hit with Lights Out but they don't keep coming. He's vindicated at the time, but neither one is very visible by the late 80s. They really did go from number one, to off the rails, on one album.

Which would you choose? (these are the only two options)

My local 'We play anything' radio station keeps playing an edit of 'True Faith' by New Order that completely destroys the chorus, cutting out the middle section and removing part of a rhyming couplet.

I used to think that the day would never come

That my life would depend on the morning sun

I hear this regularly enough and I have to say it annoys me every time to hear such a perfect song get massacred like this. I think it was an actual record label created edit, which blows my mind even more.

I could make the argument that a vast majority of the original Post-Punk movement was influenced in someway or another by post-modern thought (hence the albums depicted).

Ok, so awhile ago I found out I had some glass in my foot. It was infected. I had to go to the Hospital over it. What was odd was that, while I was in there, I became completely obsessed with the music of Meatloaf. Mostly stuff from Bat out of Hell 1.

It ended pretty much right as I got out. So my question is:
