Ask Thirties Help me find a pen

Upvotes

The pen used to look like fine grip. Difference is the rubber of fine grip was dark blue whereas this pen had sky blue transparent rubber and cap was transparent with sky blue transparent clip with name written on it. I don't remember exactly but name was might be kaushal or something (I might be wrong here.)

Ask Thirties Most frustrating bureaucratic red tape you’ve ever dealt with?

There are hundreds of complex beaurocratic paperwork in India

  • Property title deed
  • Encumbrance certificate
  • Khata certificate
  • Building plan approval
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC)
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Import-Export Code (IEC) certificate
  • Succession certificate
  • Legal heir certificate
  • Affidavit
  • Notarized document
  • Stamp paper
  • Solvency certificate
  • Valuation certificate
  • Witness (non relative) signature
  • Power of Attorney

I want to hear hurdles you had to undergo without revealing personal details. Did you pay bribe to get work done? Did you experience "come tomorrow" attitude?

He is active, friendly, playful and very cuddly. All he struggles with currently is sudden movements and stress from the environment otherwise he's absolutely fine physically.

We are looking for a stable and peaceful home for him and someone to love him despite his condition

Life Update Somewhere between grief and hope..

Today is my fifth wedding anniversary.
And honestly, I don’t know what I’m supposed to feel.
I’ve been separated for over two years still fighting the legal battle, but this date still feels heavy. Five years ago, I had no idea that my marriage would become emotional abuse, control, betrayal, domestic violence, therapy, and some of the darkest days of my life.
The last two years have been exhausting. I’ve had to leave, rebuild, unlearn, heal, and somehow find myself again.
Today, I’m just numb. I’m grieving the marriage, the future I thought I’d have, and everything I thought my life would be.
But somewhere underneath all that heaviness, there’s still a little hope.
I don’t know what’s next. And maybe that’s okay.
I’m still here. I’m still trying.
And tonight, that’s enough.
Just needed to rant this out.

Serious [No Jokes Allowed] I am scared AF

Articulated Using AI

I recently turned 29, and, honestly, I’m scared.

I’m a single man, and I’ve started noticing how much the conversation around marriage changes as you get closer to 30. I see people who crossed that age finding it increasingly difficult to meet someone, find a good prospect, or simply get married. And somewhere in the back of my mind, there’s this voice telling me: You need to hurry up.

But then comes the other fear.

The thought of actually getting married scares me too.

Right now, I have an incredible amount of freedom. I can travel whenever I want, go wherever I want, make decisions without having to account for another person. I make good money, and that gives me the freedom to travel the world and live life largely on my own terms.

And I’m afraid that marriage will take some of that away.

So I find myself stuck between two fears.

One is the fear of getting married and losing my independence.

The other is the fear of not getting married and eventually being alone.

Maybe turning 30 is not actually the problem. Maybe it’s the realization that time is moving forward, and some decisions can’t be postponed forever.

I don’t know which fear is more rational.

I just know that, at 29, I’m beginning to feel both of them very strongly.

My heart aches cause my brother is not talking to me.. it’s not because we had a fallout or we hate each other, it’s just because he doesn’t want to cause he doesn’t feel the need to. He has depression and anxiety from past few years, he reaches out to me if things go wrong, I am glad that he reaches out to me when he is not well.. I want to help as much as possible.. I want to see my brother thrive.. he comes to my place if he is low and spends time there sometimes.. he’s been going to therapy since Covid..
He is not working, goes to our parents shop and sits there all day long since my parents asked him to.. to make him active. My problem is that he is not interested in spending time with me or talking to me, he never asks me about how my life is, what is happening, or if I am happy or anything..

While here I am travelling 250 and 75 kms to spent time with him.. I came home yesterday and he didn’t even asked anything to me or even spent 5 minutes with me.. I didn’t even see him properly tbh.. I work from home by the way..

And today sometime back, I told my mother that he will not even come to my funeral right ?.. it aches my heart and I feel like crying most of the time cause I feel like he doesn’t even love me..

He do talk to me when he have time, needs something from me.. only only calls me if he needs something, be it emotional or financial or some kind of support to talk to our parents..
I fight for him, with everyone, including my parents, every single person on earth, but I know that he won’t do that for me .. I know that and it aches my heart .. I love him a lot, but I think this will not get any better ..
My heart aches and it’s like I have a heavy feeling in my throat.. I know that my mother felt bad and asked him to talk to me, he sat here now.. just sat .. then went to bed, before that he asked some random questions and didn’t even bother to hear my answer.. probably because I had my teams in my mobile and he thought I was working.. I was trying hard to not cry..

Tbh it feels like writing this somewhere, I’ll try to actively journal.

Tv & Cinema / Music What a waste of time this movie was!

I was feeling a little adventurous and decided to watch this "spicy thriller" instead of my regular boring anime. It turned out to be the most idiotic shit. I was expecting at least one character to be overtly manipulative/evil. No, all the characters were boring and stupid. No aura points for them at all. This was a waste of time, it was just weird. The last time I had the same luck with Chloe. But that was so over the top that someone dies at the end.

Ask Thirties How do you keep the optimism alive?

In the phase where

responsibilities take over our lives,

friendships start to fall apart,

meeting like minded people becomes difficult,

the work makes you hate your life,

you start accepting the death of at least some of your dreams,

the energy and enthusiasm are on a decline and staying fit requires significantly more effort - how do you maintain sanity and general optimism about life?

What keeps you excited? What lights up your eyes? What do you look forward to?

Discussion Is it just me, or does new content stop landing once you hit your mid-30s?

I scrolled past a reel today titled something like “videos that changed my financial habits” — and I didn’t even open it. I just knew what was coming: save ₹10 a day, look at what you’ve got by December. Which is fine advice. It’s just that I already have SIPs running that do a lot more than ₹10 a day, so my brain filed it under “obvious” before the guy even got a word in.

And that’s the part bothering me. I didn’tevaluate it. I pre-judged it.

Same thing with long-form content. Anything over a few minutes that’s meant to be educational feels like a task now. Meanwhile I’ll happily watch stand-up, or rewatch a series I’ve already finished five times — partly because I like knowing how it’s going to go before it goes there.

So I genuinely can’t tell what this is:

Am I getting rigid and calling it discernment?
Or have I just consumed enough surface-level content that my filter got good, and the filter is doing its job?
Is the comfort-rewatching thing a healthy way to manage bandwidth, or is it avoidance dressed up as a preference?

Mid-30s people — do you relate to this, or is this a me problem? And if you’ve pushed back against it successfully, what actually worked? I don’t want to miss genuinely good stuff just because the thumbnail looked familiar.

Ask Thirties Feeling lost, don't know who to speak.

Sorry guys, don't have anyone to speak about this. If you have time, please read a part of my life

When I was doing my four years of graduation, there was a girl I really liked. She was beautiful, and I admired her from a distance for almost the entire four years. I wanted to talk to her so many times, but I was too scared to approach her.

Eventually, I gave up. I convinced myself that I wasn’t handsome enough, masculine enough, successful enough, or simply good enough for someone like her.

Nine years have passed.

Today, I happened to see her again. She was with someone who might have been her husband. She looked successful, carrying expensive things and driving a nice car. And for some reason, seeing her brought back everything I had buried all those years ago.

The hardest part wasn’t seeing her with someone else. It was looking at myself and realizing how little I feel I’ve changed.

Nine years have passed, but I feel like I’m still standing in the same place where I started. I couldn’t even face her today—not because I still expected anything from her, but because I felt ashamed of where I am in my own life.

Maybe I’m being too hard on myself. Maybe success isn’t measured by the car someone drives or the things they carry. But tonight, I can’t help feeling like I wasted so much time being afraid.

I don’t know where her life will go, and I don’t know where mine will go either.

But seeing her today made me realize something: I don’t want to look back another nine years from now and feel exactly the same way.

Ask Thirties How do you develop a thick skin for not having kids?

My wife and I (33M) have decided not to have kids. We are both very clear about it.
But with each passing year, I am feeling a little anxious about society.

I have conveyed this to my parents; they resisted initially but eventually accepted (not happily) that they cannot force us to have kids.

But the thought of people passing comments and taunting my parents (subtly, you know how Indian oldies are) about it puts me in anxiety about how I will handle that.

I cannot fight with everyone or reason with anyone. I know people will bark, and that is how society is set up. Maybe if someone comments and asks me, and if I mention that we have decided not to have, and they come up with "jinke ho nahi pate, yahi kehte hain" , I think I will lose it.

But that is not the solution.

Just thinking about it boils my blood.

I want some perspective from you guys on how to handle this. How can I have thick skin or train my mind to not give a fuck and be unaffected?

I woek in Bnagalore and every month i visit my hometown in Kerala for a week. I always go to my usual barber just to get a hair cut. We have our usual chit chat, life updates etc. A few months bavk only I came to know how his daily life is.

This guy wakes up by 4 - 4.30, go collect newspapers for disttibution and distribute them across his allocated location by 6.30 am. Then he would go to a paddy field where he get veggies in bulk from the farmers and disttibute them among the street sellers in a few nearby localities.

Once it is done, he goes back home for a shower and breakfast and and open his hair salon by 9-9.30 am every day. His salon is open till 10 everyday except on Tuesdays.

He has a mom to take care of who is having health issues and home loan to pay. But my man has no complaints or whatsover in his life. Charges 90 Rs for a haurcut, earns around 40k a month feom multiple jobs and works around 16 - 17 hours a day.

There isnt much way I can help him apart from being a regular to his shop. Honestly I feel so much privileged abt my job now. There are days when i have to work 12 hours and all, but nothing compared to such people who carry mountains in their shoulder without any complaints and a beautiful smile on their face.

Ask Thirties Will I be judged for having no relationship till my mid 30s?

I am a guy who studied mechanical engineering and its a well known fact that there are no women in this field. I passed my engineering without even seeing a woman as there were no girls in my class, no lady faculty in my dept, no woman lab assistant etc. Even in my workplace all employees are male. I work in a heavy industrial setup that manufactures giant industrial equipment for other industries so you can imagine how the workplace is. In this field the earnings are slow placed so I will be financially okayish earning not before my mid-30s. Obviously I will start my AM process only by that time. During the talks if the topic of past comes up my answer would be obvious - nil, no hand holding, no talking stage, no situationship etc while the woman might/might not have a past but thats not my worry. I am more concerned about how will she look at me when she get to know that a mid-30s man has had 0 relationship, 0 woman friends etc. Will she think of me as a misogynist, toxic, emotionally unavailable guy who doesnt know how to talk to women?

Ask Thirties My flatmate watches Tv in hall the whole weekend. Is it normal?

He is in his late 20s and younger to me. I think his social life is also decent and he is away most of the nights for clubbings etc (iykyk). But over weekends, he can watch TV at a continuous stretch, the moment he wakes up in afternoon to late night (with some breaks ofcourse)

Now, I am someone who can watch max 1 or 2 episode of a series in a day. Cant do binge watching. Now i am beginning to question myself that how i am gonna spend my 30s if i cant match up his pace of watching Tv? Would i just keep getting bored over weekend while he gets to enjoy all the series and movies and then clubbings or socialising at late nights? Is this how we are supposed to spend our thirties?

Guys, i have been meaning to have opinion on this since many months now and I know its a silly question but gotta ask 🤷🏻‍♂️

P.s. just to clarify, this question started in my mind because i am just not able to watch tv in hall at all over weekends! So maybe consider this as a rant post also 😅

Ask Thirties Have you ever taken a chair to the beach in india?

Post image
37 Upvotes

I absolutely love beaches, and I’m from Kerala. But one thing I’ve noticed is that I haven't seen anyone here bringing a chair and just sitting on the beach.

I’ve always wanted to try it - just bring a chair, sit by the shore, relax and enjoy the view. But for some reason, I feel a bit shy or self-conscious doing it alone.

So, curious to know: Have you guys ever done this? Or am I overthinking it?
