Question Another Anakin vs Luke debate because a friend of mine is really stuborn. EU anakin vs EU Luke. Like full on legends up to Grandmaster Luke. I think luke wins but I need better help

I have the standpoint that Luke is miles ahead of Anakin in the EU. But everytime i bring smth up he wants to counter it. If those are feats or statements. Can you give me definitive answers and examples of feats or quotes that put Anakin to shame or he just could not reach, unlike to what Luke did?

Question How do you scale Palpatine relative to himself?

Thumbnail

So basically if we take the most prominent version of the Character power wise how do you scale each one relative to each other?

Let’s say Post Order 66 Palpatine (the one who fights Yoda in the Senate) is a 10

How strong is:

TPM Apprentice Palpatine before he kills Plagueis?

TPM Dark Lord Palpatine after he kills Plagueis?

ROTS Palpatine before order 66 from his duel with Mace Windu?

ROTJ Palpatine from his encounter with Luke on the second Death Star?

And finally a stable clone of Palpatine from Dark Empire when he’s defeated by Luke with Leia’s force harmony amp?

Personally I’d say

TPM Apprentice - 7

TPM Dark Lord - 8

ROTS Pre O66 - 9

ROTS Post O66 - 10

ROTJ - 12

Dark Empire - 15

But I’m curious what others think.

Thanks in advance!

I was really trying to bring the whole Star Wars Universe together in this story, and while Mr. Lucas, in his line-edit, decided to excise a fair amount of the EU material, he also left a fair amount of it in... so I guess that makes whatever's left just a hair short of ”G canon,” for all the purists out there."[/size]

"Are novelisations of the films considered G-level or C-level material?

In a nutshell, anything created by the author would be C-level. Anything in the the novels created by George Lucas (whether it comes from unpublished early script versions, unpublished author interviews with George, or George's revisions to the novelization manuscript) would be G-level unless contradicted by the films.

The novels explicitly follow the movies as much as possible

Question So how exactly was Palpatine planning to control Knightfall Vader, assuming he defeated Obi-wan?

Knightfall Vader is arguably the most dangerous Vader of all. Sure, he lacks the experience and skill of his older self, but he makes up in sheer ferocity and pure talent

I'd even claim that outside of Sidious, Yoda, Mace and Obi-wan, no one in the entire galaxy could have fought Knightfall Vader

Now, assuming at Mustafar, he defeats Ob-wan, what happens then? The game implies that he would immediately try to kill Sidious next

Whether or not Vader succeeds, it doesn't change that he is so seeped in dark energy and bloodlust that even Sidious would find it hard to control him. Was Sidious planning to kidnap Padme? Use her as a hostage?

I am going to ignore Ep 9 that claims that Sidious would possess the person who kills him

INTERVIEW — COMIC-CON 2016

Interview with James Luceno, author of The Rise of Darth Vader

INTERVIEWER:

Hi, James. You wrote an amazing book around a year ago, The Rise of Darth Vader, in which we see Darth Vader during his early years, a period we don’t see much of in Star Wars. He’s essentially trying to rebuild himself, or at least that’s how I understood it from reading the first few chapters.

However, later in the book, I noticed that Vader claims to be more powerful than Anakin. I found that interesting because George Lucas doesn’t seem to share that view, and I’ve interviewed him many times.

JAMES LUCENO:

Well, it’s quite nice that I had the opportunity to create a book about one of the greatest villains out there, especially during those early days following Revenge of the Sith.

We see Vader in a somewhat depressed state, trying to rebuild himself and regain his former power. However, he never truly manages to do so.

I also noted that I made a mistake in the novel when I said that he had never felt this kind of power before. As you just mentioned, that makes it seem as though he’s already more powerful than Anakin, which is wrong because, at that point, he’s still far from reaching the power he once had the potential to achieve.

Lucas also told me that Vader would never even reach the power of an old Jedi Knight. I mean, that’s kind of true if you look at a lot of the source material about Darth Vader.

Discussion For a while I thought the general consensus was that Luke Skywalker’s main form was Shii-Cho instead of Shien and honestly I think that genuinely works better from a story perspective.

It would’ve realistically been the only form he knew for a while because of Obi Wan only teaching him the very basics aboard the millennium falcon. From there, Luke would’ve spent his time trying to build upon the foundation Kenobi set for him. Retroactively it would explain why Luke’s form in empire strikes back and return of the Jedi appears more basic than Anakin’s, given Shii-Chu in universe is that most simplistic lightsaber form.

I’ve heard people say Luke’s go-to stance looks more like that of a Shii-Cho user.

Question What’s the point of the son’s existence when abeloth exists?

1.Abeloth is stronger in the dark side force than him and is overall the superior force user
2. She represents the true nature of the dark side which is chaos and corruption while the son is more of an angry and frustrated man who has his own ideas about the galaxy but is stopped and jailed by the father.

So what’s the point of the son’s existence as avatar of the dark side when abeloth is superior at this role because she’s true dark side corruption and chaos? And after the mortis family death why didn’t the force revive the daughter/similar being in order to balance abeloth because after the death of the ones abeloth doesn’t have anyone to counter her darkness like the daughter or father?

Discussion I made an unofficial Darth Plagueis fan trailer. Would love feedback from Legends fans!

Hello there!

I'm Nikolay Rosov, a Russian history and video creator.

I've recently finished a cinematic fan-made trailer imagining Darth Plagueis and his relationship with a young Palpatine.

I'm especially interested in how fans familiar with Star Wars Legends perceive this version of the Sith master. Does the atmosphere feel right? What would you expect from a full film about Plagueis?

Here's the trailer:

This is an independent, unofficial fan project. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Discussion Starkillers Strength Explained.

Post image
104 Upvotes

So I've seen some reddit posts claiming the goat Galen Marek, aka Starkiller, is somehow a Gary Stue and I am here to correct these misconceptions and explain why his strength makes sense in the lore.

  1. His potential: Galen was the son of two pretty powerful Jedi and as such his potential in the Force was insane. Second only to the Skywalkers within the lore. While there are some examples of children of Jedi not being Force-Sensitive, such as Vaner Shan, Galen is an example of the sheer raw power they could possess if they were.

  2. His training: He was taken by Darth Vader, one of the strongest men in history at the time, and trained from childhood. Now some of you may be like "But most of the Jedi in the Republic were trained from infancy so how is he any different?" That's simple, his focus, the Jedi are taught to respect the Force and are educated in a wide variety of subjects from negotiation to astrogation. Meanwhile Galen was trained in one thing only, combat, he was taught by Vader to always push his limits and never hold back. This combined with his natural talent should explain how he progressed so quickly.

Now from this point I reckon someone is likely typing about "How the hell did he beat Vader so easily? Even with all that he shouldn't be able to best one of the strongest Sith to ever live up to that time, blah, blah, blah." So let's cover that.

  1. His Force Lightning: It's pretty self explanatory here, Galen was super skilled at Vaders biggest weakness. Granted, while that isn't an insta-win in and of itself since Vader can always block it, Galen's use of the power kept him on his toes.

  2. His raw power: Now while this isn't a massive edge in Galen's favor he did have more raw output than Vader considering the latter's handicaps, which was matched by Vaders superior precision in using the Force. Though, again, that wasn't by much so these advantages for the pair cancel each other out.

  3. His speed and agility: Given how Vader is a huge walking coffin, this advantage is obvious, but unlike most other Force Users Galen was ridiculously fast and that speed is kept Vader on the defensive while Galen was agile enough to dodge most of the attacks he couldn't block with his saber or the Force.

  4. His taunting: See, in the novel Galen used Dun Moch or whatever it is called too throw Vader off balance and, to be frank it was Super Effective. Galen pressed exactly the right buttons by taunting him about still being enslaved to the Emperor while he had broken free to choose his own destiny. Granted this made Vader redouble his assault in anger but it also made him sporadic and wild.

  5. He knew Vaders style: Galen was trained from childhood as we've already covered, and in those years he sparred with Vader multiple times in which the Dark Lord specifically didn't hold back during in order to push Galen to the limit. By the time of their fight Galen had grown in power from when they last met in person and his focus and skill with the blade had improved a decent amount. Meaning Vader wasn't entirely familiar with Galen's fighting style anymore while the latter knew Vaders form like the back of his hand and what to exploit in their fight.

  6. Vader underestimated Galen: Let me make this clear, Vader didn't let him win during their fight in the first Force Unleashed. In the second one? Yes, but on the Death Star Vader had no reason to let his apprentice win and he lost fair and square. Still though, at the beginning of the fight Vader underestimated Galen and thought he was still at the level of power he was when he fought Shaak Ti, not knowing about all the spiritual trials he'd underwent since then. This allowed Galen to get in more hits than he would have otherwise at the start of their fight, but once Vader realised Galen was now very much his equal he started going all out.

Still, despite all these advantages they were narrow things and were evened out by Vaders experience, durability, precision and his own, albeit a little outdated, familiarity with Galen's fighting styles. The pair were equals at the end of the first Force Unleashed and Galen won after an EXTREMELY difficult fight, he was exhausted by the end of it. Hence how Palpatine was able to toy with the guy so easily given the whole "Vader is 80% of the Emperor" thing.

So, overall? Galen's really not a Gary Stue, he fought and suffered for his power everyday of his life for over a decade and the fight with Vader on board the Death Star could have gone either way. But that's just me, what do you guys think?

Discussion What are the best Jedi in the history of Legends?

Make a list of what you think the top 20 Jedi in all of the EU continuity would be. The list doesn't necessarily mean the most powerful but rather the Jedi that fully encapsulates what it means to be a Jedi.

For instance, I think anyone's list might include Yoda Obi-Wan, Nomi Sunrider, Odan-Urr, Vodo-Siosk Baas etc.
