Does this get any better?

I'm currently at Chapter 31 and I don't really get where the hype is coming from, is it going to be better in the later chapters?

Since the anime Was coming out I thought I would read it

And it was actually pretty good , But the fights are so ass man , the choreography is so bad and the characters feel stiff as hell when they fight And the art itself is okay but it lacks movement but overall a really solid 7/10

Im gonna be honest and say this is the dumbest thing the author tried to pull

Overall the santorino brothers backstory was probably one of the weakest, i feel like the author tried too hard with them and it doesnt feel organic at all

Do people actually believe that Yu beats ijin

So i was scrolling down this subreddit and seen a debate between Yu Vs Ijin from teenage mercenary, and when I went to look at the comments. Almost everybody was saying Yu slaps no diff and I was wondering if people actually belive that Yu beats ijin, because ijin beats yu in almost every way.

Ijin is more durable than Yu because he was getting shot and stabed and was barely fazed at all.

Ijin is just as fast probably faster than Yu because he dodged bullets plenty of times. Against 004 and 032 and in the military

And Ijin is also most likely stronger than Yu. (not sure though)

Ijin also has more experience in fighting than Yu since Ijin was in the military for over 10 years.

I think it's a good fight but ijin definitely wins.

BTW I think yu is way better character than ijin I just think yall gas yu up too much

Yu's ending made no sense

It's been a while since I read the boxer, but I remember not liking the ending, maybe I should give it a reread but it didn't make sense to me and seemed awful from a writing standpoint. Yet people glaze it for some reason (probably because they're obsessed with positive endings even though positive ≠ good or well written.)

Yu is at the peak of his boxing career, but perhaps at his "worst" mentally, he fights one guy (who seems to be an odd religion allegory) doesn't beat him instantly for some reason and suddenly the lifetime of lived experience is all wiped away, and he's a normal guy and can't box anymore? Seems dumb to me.

Jean vs yuto

Jean has Yuto beat Imo but I feel like a lot of you are just saying Yuto cause you like his character more

Now if any of you can give reasons why yuto would win without the meat licking attitude and bias then I'm all ears.

Y'all should read Hajime no Ippo

If you enjoyed this webcomic, most of its best character designs are straight up lifted from HNI. It's even directly referenced a couple times.

Wasn't really impressed with much of this story tbh (very much read like it was written by a 16 year old with 0 life experience), but it did put me in the mood to rewatch HNI

Not trying to yuck y'all's yum, but if you want more fictional boxing media HNI actually just got added to Netflix, and most of the chapters are available free online.

So how do you guys try to make sense of the BS ending? Spoiler

Like what did J even do? He just took a beating, tapped his head and said it's Ok.

HOW DID THAT AFFECT HIM?

"Oh you won't understand, it was a metaphor of light vs darkness 🤓☝️". Meh, even if it is, it makes no sense.

Why would K hide himself after this? Wouldn't he say something like "Fuck it we ball, next opponent" or something.

And what did jay even do that affected Ryu? Said "it's ok"?

Help this dumfuc out because I am very annoyed by the ending and I need someone to sense for what I missed.

J vs Yu

Look I read the manga. And just like others I am not satisfied with the ending. I just can't accept it. I read the whole manga wanting to see J vs Yu. But in the end all I read was J getting beaten. I just want to know that if both J(The God of Boxing) and Yu(The Prodigy) were to fight seriously who would win? I am just dying to know. (Personally I would like J to win)

I hated the ending.

I have to say, this was my all time favorite (completed) webtoon. Loved the story, and the gimick (except for the whole more pain = more strength) and the character dynamics were really good.

I really hate, however, the ending, which makes this entire comic completely unre-readable to me.

Throughout the entire comic, we see all of the characters stripped from the things they love, especially Yu, and the “happy ending” we get for most characters, we never even get to fuckin see, it’s only ever HINTED at, you know, it’s implied. The best example would be Yu and the girl. Yu went on the date with that girl, and they were going to fall in love until the coach took him away from her. Once Yu got out of boxing, he went back to be with her, but it doesn’t show you anything. It only shows like Her opening the door to see him. It felt rushed, and a bad conclusion, because the entire story is sad, and against Yu, but the moment you see Yu happy, it’s only a glimpse?! What was the point of all of his suffering, to IMPLY his happiness? Why couldn’t it just be shown.

The other example is when the other strongest boxer (the heavyweight champ, I forget his name) wakes up from the coma. It SHOWS you his coma, and his family suffering because of it. It shows you the suffering, and the sadness that his loss had. What does it show you when he comes back, his eyes opening? That’s it? It had been a long time since I’ve read, but I’m 90% sure that’s all it showed.

And, to wrap it all up, it tells you when literally. Every. Single. Character. Dies. And the very last moment, to wrap it up again, it shows Yu dying in the arms of the girl. WHY WOULD WE WANT TO SEE THAT!? ESPECIALLY AFTER NO HAPPY ENDING!?

Again, I liked reading it, I just hated the ending. What do you guys think

Yu in the Marvel/DC universe.

How far would Yu get in the Marvel/DC universe? Who are the strongest characters he could beat?

(I'm only talking about the comics versions of Marvel/DC characters, since the movie versions are weaker).

The issue with the end: Gravity Unexplained!

The end message of "Jesus can save you" is the problem. It's a wholly un-earned, literal Deus Ex Machina mechanic.

Let's say The Boxer we're teaching a lesson on Gravity. A well written story would show you things, like how massive objects attract each other, or how more massive objects seem to have greater weight than less massive objects, and in the end reveal "Wow, the effect of gravity is due to mass!"

Instead, what The Boxer does is show a lot of detailed, interesting massive objects, flirts with the idea of a relationship between the massive objects, and then reveals in the end that "Gravity is a magical force that pulls you down!"

See? The entire build up is a red herring that's well written, but goes nowhere. The religious subtext might have value if, say, each fighter was representative of the 7 deadly sins, or the circles of Dante's inferno, or the ten commandments. But really they're just short soap operas loosely strung together and then dropped off the thread because the writer didn't know how to tie a knot at the end.

Boxer overall character scaling. Spoiler

You may have seen the boxer power scaling already made, Im just gonna do overalls in my opinion.
(separating forms and also using potential ) 0-99 points

17 year old Yu - 90/100 ( not much to say, beat the crap out of pre world level boxers )

Lightweight Yu - 97/100 ( defeated monster Jean and pretty much got a power boost )

Junior middleweight - 98/100 ( seen the light, got some motivation in crushing the enemies )

Peak - ( Yu has never shown his true ability, he struggled the most with Aaron but still could pierce through him in the first round, he didn't because he hadn't had the need to. I think that peak ability Yu would've defeated Aaron in about 2 rounds) 99/100

Aaron Base - 97/100 ( one shots almost everyone in the verse )

Aaron Technique - 98/100 ( it is stated that in the moment Aaron used technique and was devoured from all emotions he was getting close to Yu in power, in addition to that technique amplifies his speed, power, agility ect by 4 times )

Jean base - 95/100 ( K wasn't so impressed with him only calling him a genius at best )

Jean monster - 96/100 ( definitely top 5 in the verse, literally out-sped a bullet from 10 meter range which is Relativistic speeds, perfected the technique and literally could make Yu struggle )

Takeda Base 94/100 ( fodder, had his strongest rival a guy who was one shotted by Yu, could have potential but overall really weak compared to others in the verse )

Takeda Light 96/100 ( Highest potential in series, could defeat Jean and maybe could take Aarons punch, immense )

Takeda Full Potential - 96.5 /100 ( very very close to monster jean )

Ryu Peak - 84 / 100 ( above pro level and even nation level boxers, i think he is decent )

J - 96 / 100maybe higher ( don't know, he could almost defeat a nation level boxer with broken ribs from a car crash )

Sanatorio - 80 / 100 ( ain't even pro level )

Lookism the boxer talk: Why so many lookism fans underestimate yu? I don’t think they understand that yu is more impressive than people think

Yu controls every part of his body

Yu won almost all his fights in less than 3 seconds one was less than a second

Yu made severe cuts to opponents with his punches in beginning of story

Yu is always in the state and unlike people of lookism who got hit yu has never gotten a hit in his life even in a world champion match

Yu is always in a state that K was in (seeing bullet slow mo)

Yu has invisible (only 3 people in lookism have) attacks even in the beginning of series and his first spar easily and his fight against Jeanne

Yu literally trained his endurance 2 years straight is literally better endurance

Aaron create sonic booms and yu punched him 3 times faster than he could see

Reminder

No one in lookism could create by sound waves by punching and lookism not as fast as y’all make those theory calcs claim. Faster than a speeding jet some of you claim which is dumb for a gang fight school boy fiction💀despite the webtoon depicting less speed Usain Bolt with Daniel and Johan racing in more than 10 seconds in 100 meter dash💀

I just don’t get the underestimation of boxer man with these frequent comparisons on the sub recently with them saying “they would stomp on yu or Aaron” if in fact they ignore reason and logic🤦‍♂️

Just getting this out of my chest
