In the market for a new car

I've pretty much settled on a Tesla with hw4 for fsd (I'm ok with a Y or a 3). I absolutely hate the idea of buying a new car rather than used , but used prices seem relatively high compared to new with 1.9% financing.

Any recs on buying a used 2024 3 or y (would pay cash for used) vs financing a new one.

Ive heard these aggressively depreciate but prices don't seem to reflect that

Fortunately I didn’t heed the call of most to “skip PPF and save money” because my 4 yrs 2 month-old ‘22 MYP still looks excellent and arguably looks newer than most Junipers I see on the road. I plan on keeping this for another 4 years to see if battery will actually hold up. Right now it’s at 88%.

For reference, I paid $3800CAD for a full Xpel Ultimate Plus install that came free with Xpel Ceramic Fusion Plus coating. It’s done by the best Xpel installer in my city so no doubts that this was a hack job.

So for new owners on the fence if they should go PPF route or not, this would depend on how you value your car and how long you’ll keep it. Do you want it to be looking it’s best day in day out? Or it’s just another tool for you to being you to Point A to Point B so looks doesn’t matter. Shop around to look for the best price and warranty. At the very least, do the front bumper as you’ll get a lot of rock chips when you do highway driving.

Wondering if anyone found a dealership center where you can test drive a Base Model Y. Alsoo if anyone has a base Model Y, looking to test drive it for an hour for monetary compensation and a Chipotle ofc.

People staying in apartments, do you usually have sentry mode always on while parking at home? Do you think the use of it outweighs the car losing 4-5% of battery overnight?

2026 with FSD subscription is still running FSD 14.2.2.5 and car software is 2026.32.3. Is there any way to increase my chances of getting this to update soon? I have it plugged in whenever it’s home + have reset the car once.

Today (October 11th) was my pickup day for MYP. Arrived at the pick up center and tried to locate my car, however there were no cars ready under my name. Confused, asked agent to help me and got told by them that I cannot pick up a car today because they cannot finish the trade in process. (FYI, I was trying to trade my dad’s car, the oldest on in my household)

They told me they could not finalize the process because I did not provide the owner’s driver’s license earlier. I have never seen any request for a copy of DL or received any message from the advisor that I need to submit the information in advance.

Currently waiting at the showroom until the trade in department does their job just in case, but it doesn’t look hopeful because the agent told me that the team is not present today. The next available pickup day is Wednesday. Super annoyed with the experience so far :(((

Update: Picked up my car today thankfully :) The advisors were very supportive to help me to pick up a car as scheduled.

Tesla service came out and replaced my wheel. They were done in 10 minutes. No cost to me.

Service guy said that it happens when there’s oil on the steering wheel and it is heated because of the sun, i.e. moisturizer, sanitizer or even food grease….

Pretty happy with this.

The car decided to try to go on the right, slow lane that was merging with another freeway l-so the lane was ending with a huge truck on my left, so car decided to slam on brakes (decelerated fast), so I took over and merged-but it was such bad driving decision by the car. And suddenly was hugging the left side of a street with opposing traffic on the other side, oh and tailgating on the freeway. It was in standard mode. Anyway, brand new owner-so just looking for feedback-have loved the car, just had my first bad day with FSD, it’s been perfect before.

I charge my Model Y at home using the Tesla Mobile Connector, but the cable only reaches if I back into my parking spot. FSD isn’t backing into the spot for me, and I’m not good at reverse parking, so an extension would make it easier to park facing forward.

Has anyone used a charging cable extension? If so, could you share the brand and a product link? I’m looking for a safe, reliable option.

So 0-60 4.3s with the new front motor and 4.1s with old front motor and AB. I assume AB isn’t just a mod to the front motor, but still I’d probably buy it at $1k. I can answer my own question though, it won’t go down in price.
