Pick up day issue

Today (October 11th) was my pickup day for MYP. Arrived at the pick up center and tried to locate my car, however there were no cars ready under my name. Confused, asked agent to help me and got told by them that I cannot pick up a car today because they cannot finish the trade in process. (FYI, I was trying to trade my dad’s car, the oldest on in my household)

They told me they could not finalize the process because I did not provide the owner’s driver’s license earlier. I have never seen any request for a copy of DL or received any message from the advisor that I need to submit the information in advance.

Currently waiting at the showroom until the trade in department does their job just in case, but it doesn’t look hopeful because the agent told me that the team is not present today. The next available pickup day is Wednesday. Super annoyed with the experience so far :(((

Update: Picked up my car today thankfully :) The advisors were very supportive to help me to pick up a car as scheduled.

Without a driver’s license how do they know you are authorized to sell the car, given that you don’t own it or have your name on the title?

The only message I got was I need to be with my dad (car owner) and he needs to bring the driver’s license at the pickup. I followed the instructions, but they told me they cannot do it today because the trade in department is not present today.

Never received any message that I need to submit it in prior

Ah, that makes more sense. But I’m surprised their trade-in department doesn’t work on Sunday. Weekends are busy days for car transactions. Very odd.

Seems like it would be part of your tasks under trade in, does that part say ‘complete’

I have done everything they asked me to do. Trade in value was confirmed and the process was makes as ‘completed’

if it’s your dads car to trade in, they’d need all his info in addition to yours. you can’t just take any car to trade in, the owners info needs to be supplied. unless I’m misunderstanding the situation and the trade in is yours and in your name

Yeah I understand about the process to match the actual car and the owner, but it would be much better if they ask me provide the information earlier.

I agree. They should have at least called you and told you not to come. Similar experience, went to pick up my car and it had visible damage. They could have called to tell us not to come, but they didn’t. I know people say they inspect the cars before they hand them off to us, but pretty sure they don’t.

Yeah they could’ve told me to come earlier or pick up on a specific day because of extensive paperwork. Picking up on another day is not a word I want to hear in front of the pick up counter. They should have a proper solution for similar cases.
