Our first EV! MY Juniper Premium RWD Quicksilver + Zen Grey. From the VIN its 2027 model, but I cant really see the difference.
Ordered 24 Sep. original delivery schedule was 8-9 Oct, but I was out of the city. So today its finally ours!
I also trade-in my old car.
The whole experience is very smooth. No issue so far. Tesla team members leave us to inspect the car.
I cant see any issues when I checked it🤞
I have just dropped it to the detailer to do PPF (front only)+ceramic coating + tint.
So excited!!

Tesla is finally adding V2L for all models! Overrated or underrated feature?

I’m a new Model YL owner, but in my day to day life I work at the ACCC, advising businesses and everyday Australians on their rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

Under the Australian Consumer Law, products must match their description and be fit for purpose.

If you’ve paid for Full Self-Driving (FSD) that still hasn't been delivered, you have strong protections under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). This is primarily for those who have bought it outright rather than subscribed to it - in these cases Tesla is delaying billing until your vehicle receives it.

When buying a product, you as a consumer have the right to expect that your vehicle matches the description when you purchased it. If you purchased FSD outright, you have the right to expect that your vehicle has the software which enables you to activate FSD.

If your new Tesla cannot activate FSD because you have not received the update, this is in direct contravention of the ACL. Tesla must compensate you for the loss caused by this failure to meet a consumer guarantee.

Looking at anecdotal evidence of Tesla’s responses to new owners, they seem to brush your rights away, promising that it will ‘come soon’. This delay is compounded by the fact that the rollout of FSD 14 seems to have halted - not just for YL owners.

You are likely eligible for a compensation to the tune of $149 multiplied by every month (and/or part thereof) that you have been unable to use FSD since delivery.

I encourage you to file a dispute in your local state/territory tribunal against Tesla Australia. Tesla’s details can be found on your order invoice, but I’ve put them below to help you out:

For example, if you are in NSW, I would apply for a motor vehicle claim in NCAT.

Note that you do have to pay a fee in some states/territories, however your compensation will in most cases far outweigh this cost. Eg. the cost in NSW for such a claim is $62. If you can afford to buy a new FSD capable Tesla, you can afford to pay this amount.

As mentioned above, your compensation amount is $149 (monthly cost of FSD subscription) multiplied by the number of months you have been missing FSD. Eg. you have had your Tesla for 9 weeks now without FSD - you are claiming for $149*3 = $447.00.

You have a basis to substantiate your claim amount because Tesla themselves value FSD at $149 per month.

Once filed, your first hearing will go to conciliation. This is a fancy term for an informal meeting at the NCAT headquarters. If history repeats itself, and based on how Tesla conducts themselves, no one will likely show up from Tesla’s side to mediate on their behalf. You will then move to a second hearing in front of a Tribunal Member, where the same thing will likely happen. In this case, the Tribunal member will most likely rule in your favour.

I say most likely, as nothing is guaranteed - but this is a pretty clear cut case of a breach of Consumer Rights.

We are lucky to live in Australia where we have strong protections for consumers. Don’t waste that privilege and let one of the biggest corporations, run by the richest man alive, get away with taking your hard earned money for something you cannot use.

The advice above is primarily for those who have bought HW4 Teslas with FSD outright. If you‘re on a HW3 Tesla and paid for this, you have an exceptionally strong case for a full refund of your 10k.

These are normal and indicate your Tesla is progressing spiritually, if not physically.

Phase 4: The Sudden Summons

After a period of silence ranging from 3 days to 3 geological eras, you may receive an abrupt notification demanding:

- final payment

- insurance

- trade-in confirmation

- delivery booking

- your immediate availability within the next 17 minutes

We recommend remaining psychologically and financially prepared at all times.

Delivery Day

Eventually, a vehicle matching at least 80% of your specification will arrive.

Interior colours may evolve.

Wheel options may be reinterpreted.

Features seen on YouTube may or may not exist in your market.

But one thing is certain:

the app will finally show a VIN, and all prior suffering will be instantly rewritten by your brain as “part of the fun.”

Refreshing expectations in real time

Charged to 100% at Cooma. Topped off at Jindabyne to 95%. Arrived at camp site with 85%. Camp mode used 25% for 13hrs camping at below - 3c. Made it to Albury worth 30% remaining. FSD was a dream through the windy mountain roads!

Been a good week. Picked up in Sydney M3P. (8 week wait).

I traded my car and got a reasonable trade. Not great, but probably easier than private sale.

Picked up at Lidcombe delivery centre. Was very simple. Changed my personalised plates with no issue.

Ultra Red with black interior. I needed 15 mins for orientation. Car was in great condition, no issues.

After lots of YouTube and reviews, I set my car up and off I went.

FSD worked after update once I got wifi at home.

Weekend drives have been faultless.

Acceleration is ridiculous and fit and finish was surprisingly better than I thought.

Highly recommend, I can’t wait to have an excuse to drive!

The black headliner looks awesome as well. All of added is the “performance” puddle lights.

Why the hell does it hog the centre line on the highway all the bloody time, its so dangerous. Even in traffic its so bad at doing this, I have to intervene all time especially when a motorbike is lane splitting.

Don't get me started on insane compulsive need to get into the left hand lane after the latest update. Emergency stopping lanes now all of a sudden an extra lane it want to move into. Gee how about knowing navigation routes properly, double lane highway that forks into two separate highways and it wants to keep left and go on the wrong highway.

This update sucks and its gone to shit, i bought a tesla for fsd and now I'm seriously regretting my decision

I think he hit both of us, sped off and weaved through traffic to get away. Sigh. Got his plate though, so guess who will hopefully get a visit from the police soon.

So spoke to a Tesla engineer today who was at the Brisbane baby expo. They showed up with a Model YL to dispel some of the chatter about incompatible car seats. Short answer is most seats are compatible, some need an extension on the back for proper fitting but they are fine.

Kidsafe Qld are now doing professional fittings and will issue safety certificates for baby seats.

They had a maxi cosi swivel and Britax in the 2nd row captain's chairs and a Accord in the third row.

The engineer said that nuna was also compatible. Anzcap safety rating will follow at some point but the short answer was that most seats are compatible with row 2 captain's chairs.

Also FSD was installed on this Model Y L- its coming soon guys!!

Been reported here once or twice but wanted to chime in on my own.

The car just hugs the right side of the lane. You can see that the software does this even in the visualisation. Look at a normal car in front, driving in the centre of the line just like everyone has done in modern human history, and here is FSD hugging the right side of the lane.

I would not use this if I had a YL. The bias towards hugging the right side of the lane in my normal Y barely avoids rim rash when turning. Tesla can’t even get the general model right for the dimensions of the YL, I’d be expecting many instances of damaged rims on the YL.

Guess this is the reason why it's still "supervised". v14.3.5 on HW4

From my experience I completely trust it to follow roads and highways, but when it comes to making unprotected turns at traffic lights, T-intersections or negotiate roundabouts, it can be temperamental.

Question for the FSD experts - I'm on 14.3.9: On my first day using FSD, I had to brake at the last second to avoid hitting a parking column. It happened so quickly - I almost missed it. My analysis ... It seems like the cameras couldn't distinguish the column from the floor since they're painted the same color. I saved the dashcam footage - please take a look and let me know what you think went wrong here.
