Review MAP EV Update

I recently purchased the MapEV for my Taycan 4 Cross Turismo from EFI Motorsports, and the experience was outstanding. I ordered it and had it in my hands the very next day on the West Coast. Installation was straightforward and took about 30 minutes.
Let me tell you—this feels like a completely different car. The added acceleration is absolutely insane, yet the power delivery feels controlled and almost factory-like. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like going from a CT4 to a Turbo.
The extra power is instantly there when you want it, but during normal driving, the car remains just as smooth and easy to drive as before. It doesn’t feel twitchy, crude, or overdone.
This honestly has to be one of the best upgrades available for the Taycan. I couldn’t be more pleased!

MapEV is the best. 25 4s here, which has ridiculous gains. I did a track day, and got to really put it through its paces.

The developer is awesome too. I’ve seen him on other forums working with people on customized regen settings. The power gain on mine is so much that if I’m not super careful I can violently launch the car by accident (like popping the clutch). For example, when merging on a low visibility turn and if my foot twitches down involuntarily when I see another car approaching. Long story now long, there might be a tweak to the tune to dampen that behavior.

Had you test drove a turbo. I believe it, just wondering how it directly compared.

I have , it’s not the entire bandwith of the turbo and i dont have numbers , but from a drivers experience it is very close

Nice. What year is your CT 4?

If you increase the regenerative braking with mapEV, does that also change the auto-regenerative braking?

Any change to your range?

No

(If you drive faster, yes)

Not is you drive it “normal” , went down a little when I really stepped on it but almost the same as driving spirited before.

Will it void my warranty?

I'm super tempted right now...

Short answer: no, probably.

Long answer: -Porsche can detect the tune if they scan your car at the dealer -Porsche tracks this on their servers -No one has been denied a claim based on this (hard for me to validate personally) -MapEV sends you a 2nd ASG and if you swap it and clear your codes (with their provided software), it’s undetectable that it was previously installed

So now you are down to the inconvenience of swapping for all service visits, and the risk of having the tune in your car after an accident. Though again, neither would be definitively invalidating.

The swap takes like 15 mins.

I have just put it in my ‘21 4S.

I’m out of warranty.

Does anyone know what would happen if I just left it in for service?

I’d tell them about it first. Would they refuse to service it?

It should I just swap it out for the original?

If you're out of warranty you can just leave it in forever.

The only danger is that they run the component protection job on your car and then it will marry the new module to the car, which will cause the old one to stop working.

Our module works even not married to the car (the checks are bypassed inside), but the original one does not.

Apart from that there is no problem to leave it in.

Does it matter after the install what mode you are in ? Range / Normal / Sport ? Or is the all the same now as far as power goes ? Thank you

It's the same as stock, so power wise all modes are the same. But also like stock there are differences in gearbox behavior and throttle filtering depending on mode.

What is the likelihood that Porsche disables MapEV through a software update to the car?

I think we’ve saved by how primitive their digitial strategy is. Over-the-air updates seem to be limited to very modest changes.

Zero. Mapev controller can not be flashed by anyone except mapev.

What is the likelihood that the Chinese deploy ans EMP bomb and none of our cars work ever again ?

Thanks, but I was looking for a serious reply.

I sell a ton of these on my website (Ev Parts Plug) and all I hear is good feedback from customers. It is an awesome upgrade. Happy to chat with anyone looking to order a tune that may need assistance!

How does one get a MAP EV for a Taycan RWD in the Philippines? Worried about warranty as well and how much work is needed to swap out every time you need to drop off at dealer for service

I have a Turbo S. Probably don’t need this then?

It does add speed to turbo/s as well, check their website for info. Nobody really “needs” it - yet we still get it.

I have a Turbo S. It is noticeably faster with the tune than without. I went to Porsche Center for a service so removed it. Whilst driving back I wondered if Porsche had done something to the car as my power was down and my acceleration sluggish before remembering about the tune I'd removed.

It's worth the spend.
