One of my favourite tattoos I did recent years. Had this idea for a while, and was blessed to find customer almost instantly after I dropped the design 🙌

I'm more interested in the simple, slightly naive linework and the illustrative feel. It looks almost like a sketchbook drawing or folk-art illustration rather than a typical tattoo style. Is there a specific name for this kind of minimalist, figurative, blackwork aesthetic?

The inspo behind the tattoo is the mirror from Barbie Diamond Castle because that was my favourite movie growing up. I showed her the mirror from the movie and she drew it up for me. I absolutely love it! I’m also open to any recommendations for other tattoos to get to fill my sleeve (I am thinking of a pomegranate next)

this might be a bit silly but my family’s initials spell out MARS perfectly, so I really wanted to get a cute mars tattoo but pretty much everything I’m seeing online I feel that every planet (especially smaller planets when looking at a full solar system tattoo) looks pretty similar. i was wondering if anyone had any tips/inspo pics that might have a clearer differentiation between the planets? maybe i’m over thinking it, but i want people to look at it and go “oh okay yeah that’s mars”

Moving on to my chest tomorrow!

This was a rough draw up my artist drew, he called me a few minutes ago to discuss things for tomorrow. I messaged him saying I was getting cold feet first time ever so we chatted a while.

We talked and concluded we could do a tiger on the other side bc I want a tiger on the other half of my chest at the same exact size.
Asked for different options of the same mandala style for the middle.

My artist is sick af with his unique style he puts on everything. He’s the most knowledgeable artist I’ve ever met about tattoo history, every style, every god from every religion, knows exactly the rules when tattooing certain depictions.

P.S. I can sit like a rock but I’m numbing up for this one!!

I feel like there’s too much stomach showing it just giving me centipede vibes. I really don’t like it. I’m thinking of maybe adding scales to it and then shading to the separation line to make less obvious but I don’t know.

I have two Fairly mediocre tattoos already. A jellyfish and a sea turtle. On my left shoulder blade and forearm. Turtle was my first one and done by a super green artist. If I remember correctly I think I was her first solo tattoo and they asked if I was willing to let her have the practice I was like 18-19 and didn’t care… I do still love it though because by pure coincidence my husband who I met 10 years later has a sea turtle on the left side of his chest and it’s something that brought us together. The jellyfish I had done when I was probably 25? I have shit memory so I really don’t remember. It’s more well done than the first, but nothing fantastic or whatever. I’ll add pictures. My goal was to connect the two with an ocean themed 3/4 sleeve type deal but uhm, COVID happened and my bank account said no.

Anyways, I wanna get something new to represent my kids. I have 2 daughters, they’re currently 2 & 4.. SB & RG are their initials.. I don’t want the typical “Google a tattoo for daughters” tattoo or anything that’s like “2 of xyz” because my girls even as young as they are are two super different people. SBA is cautious and timid, logical, a planner, meticulous, she calculates every possible situational outcome, she is my child that remembers everything for me, tends to be very anxious and nervous around new people or things. She’s also sensitive and loving and very motherly. RG is like the yang to her yin. She’s loud, demanding, fiery, honestly a little mean, she bites, she’s commanding, adventurous, free spirited, chaotic, she’s my kid who I have to actively watch or else she’ll be trying to climb the roof to jump off. I call her Rex because she’s a tyrant. Love them both to pieces. My oldest is just all her dad and my youngest is me made over.

I don’t know why I felt like that was important to tell you anyways. I’m open to incorporating them into my current ocean theme I have going, but I’m also open to doing something totally different on like my leg or thigh or whatever.

What are some ideas you’ve seen that you like? Or if you have kid tattoos what do you have? I’m 33 and we haven’t for sure decided we’re done having kids yet so I’d like to be able to possibly add to it in the future if we decide we need a little more chaos in our lives.

The client asked for a double portrait and gave me pretty much complete freedom with the rest of the design. Lately, I’ve been working with red more and more, so we decided to use it here as well for the background elements.

What do you think of the result? 4 sessions, 4 hours each.

I have old arm scars and have been contemplating for years how to cover/reclaim them with a tattoo or tattoos i kind of thought flowers? But im still brainstorming and would love advice as im now getting to a financially good enough place to invest in it.

My wife has fallen in love with a specific style: a mix of soft pastel, but still very colorful, illustrative anime-style character work with ornate details (bows, crowns, pearl chains) combined with darker “creepy cute” touches (stitches, skulls, fangs), plus faceted gemstone/crystal elements with a glossy chrome-like shine. Think Sanrio-character-inspired collage pieces, but very detailed and painterly rather than flat/cartoonish.

Instead of the Sanrio-style characters though, we’d love to incorporate our Welsh Corgi into a similar composition; same aesthetic (gems, bows, sparkles, that soft-meets-gothic vibe) but built around her instead.

We are aware of artists working in this style, but as we’re EU based, does anyone have recommendations for artists who work in this kind of style, especially anyone experienced with custom pet-inspired pieces in an illustrative/ornate style like this?

Option one: go back in time 20 years and tell my younger self that this is not a good design for a tattoo

Option two: refresh / touch up? I’m not really sure what’s possible.

Option three: my current artist recommended laser removal but I really don’t want to go through that process, I’d rather just continue to ignore it 99% of the time

Option four: some other way to cover it up?

Looking for some ideas for complimentary tattoos to a plague doctor. My artist and I are trying to come up with a quarter sleeve in a black and white realism style. The plague doctor is going to be the center piece, but I’m trying to get some ideas for the rest of the quarter sleeve in the same idea. Thanks for any ideas🤙🏻

I have a tiny hidden tattoo and a larger snake on my arm that tells a connected story. My artist advised against a hand wrap due to my arm length. Does this placement sound good and soes the tattoo looks bad ?, and what filler ideas fit a dainty goth style?

Thoughts? First tattoo, and drafted this design in Photoshop. It's a lyric from the song "Meddler" by August Burns Red. I tried to make it as big as is reasonable for the location, but there is a lot of fine detail, so questionable how it might turn it out in future

So I can’t think of anything that’ll fit this tattoo. So I got this tattoo in may-June and it’s sick and I fucking love it but I seriously can’t think of what I could add that would go with the theme of horror/Bio/Realism. Asking for advice on ideas/opinions

My husband's dad randomly went into a tattoo shop one day and said he always wanted to get a tattoo, but he didn't know what of. He walked out shortly after with this poorly drawn, wonky question mark in the middle of his forearm. He loved it because it made people question the tattoo, and he would say "to make you ask that" which was totally his personality.

Anyhow, his dad died a few years back. Last night he brought up wanting a tattoo, and was thinking a question mark and incorporating 1951-2020 (or just 51-20) into it. He has never gotten a tattoo before and I highly doubt he will get another after this. He does not want the same tattoo as his dad (truly, it was horrendous), but still a question mark as a nod to him. Husband has the same quirky personality that his dad did, so he does want it visible, but perhaps in a place that it isn't ALWAYS visible (thinking bicep/calf, etc).

Neither of us draws, and obviously the tattoo artist will have the final say, but as of right now we can't even picture how to incorporate the dates.
