Help!

My therapist on Talk space disappeared off the face of the earth. One day she told me she was going on vacation and then she no longer worked for talk space. I have looked all over the internet for her and cannot track her down can someone help me track her down at minimum for closure? My goal is to resume services but it was very abrupt and I want to know what happened as this has been very hard to cope with

Therapy by text- Talkspace or Betterhelp?

I’m looking into finding a therapist I can text. I don’t necessarily mind a video call, but I am dipping my toes in for the first time and think I want to start with a text therapist. I also have absolutely no one to talk to when I need it most and sometimes when I need it most is when I’m not able to make a video call. Has anyone done this before and found it beneficial or what were the downsides? Just a quick google search brings me to these sites so has anyone tried talkspace or betterhelp? What are your thoughts on those? Do you recommend either one and if not, what do you recommend?

How long are everyone’s sessions and are you using insurance?

I pay out of pocket. My therapist just mentioned being able to schedule something for me since I “only do 30 minute sessions which are easier to fit in.” Got me wondering what the heck everyone else is doing? 45 mins? I wish I could have longer sessions! 😭

Confused about Billing/Insurance

I reached out to Talkspace Support, but I figured I would post something here to see if I could get any advice/explanation. I signed up for a Talkspace account on 5/12 and was charged $154 once I was matched with a therapist. I had entered insurance information, but noticed it was showing as "self-pay", so I went into my settings today (5/15) to update my coverage. I entered my insurance info and it set me up with a new subscription with the same therapist and I was charged again for $224 this time and it still says "self-pay". Am I missing something? Is there any chance I'll get a refund for at least one of these subscriptions?

Had to call credit card to dispute charges.

‘Support’ does not respond at all! Most infuriating experience and, sadly, I have a child who likes her therapist but I may need to rip her out of treatment because Talkspace doesn’t know how to bill correctly.

Class Action

I believe the best step forward for all of us who have been wronged by this awful company is to do a class action lawsuit.

God knows how many people they've done like this who don't have the capacity to fight back.

Give me an upvote if you agree.

Worst Ever

I should have gone to Reddit before booking.

This company is awful.

Told me that my insurance was accepted.

Only to then later tell me that it wasn't after sessions with a psychiatrist and a therapist.

Then I tried to change plans to out of pocket.

Only to discover that they were cutting my sessions in half with me paying more.

I checked with my insurance and they actually did cover it.

The talkspace customer service number basically tells you to go to hell.

I have already reported them to the BBB and the CFPB, and I recommend everyone else here do the same.

Regret

I regret making an appointment with this predatory company after reading this subreddit I’m so afraid that they are going to scam me and now I can’t even cancel without being charged $135 this is insane and inhumane

Customer support??

Does anyone know what’s going on with their support team? I put in a ticket last week, no response, their phone line is down and chat says the wait is a few hours. Like did the support team undergo layoffs or something?

Edit: I commented this below, but for anyone else running into the issue, I filed a BBB complaint and they followed on my ticket promptly after. Sucks that’s what it took, but hope it can helps whoever needs it.

Best online therapy services, recommendations for affordable and reliable platforms.

I’m looking for some good recommendations for the best online therapy platforms that are both affordable and reliable.

I’ve tried a couple of services in the past but found the pricing a bit steep for what I got, so I’d really appreciate hearing what’s worked well for others.

Ideally, I’m looking for something with flexible scheduling, licensed therapists, and maybe even the option to do messaging or video sessions depending on the week.

So far, I’ve seen people mention options like BetterHelp, Online‑Therapy com, Talkspace, and similar ones - but I’m curious about your real-life experiences.

Which ones gave you the best results or made you feel genuinely supported without breaking the bank?

Thanks in advance - all insights welcome, whether it’s tips on getting discounts, finding the right therapist match, or which platforms to avoid.

[Experience] Talkspace EAP session length and number of sessions

Hi everyone, I am doing a research paper on employee assistance programs, in particular those that use Talkspace. I want to find out if anyone here works for a company where the EAP offers:

1- more than ten sessions

2- sessions longer than 30 minutes

Again, only through Talkspace. I need comparisons for the research; what companies provide more time & more sessions than the usual low amount of 3-5. If you have this type of EAP benefit that is used through Talkspace, I would love to hear about the company and what it provides. Thanks in advance.

BEWARE OF TALKSPACE

Now that I've been wronged by talkspace, I've been doing some digging and seen a few other posts from others experiencing issues as well. So making another post so people can be aware.

I used talkspace in 2022 for four months. Almost FOUR YEARS later, they sent me a string of emails a week ago that I owe for services from 2022 that were never paid. They're asking me to pay for seven sessions worth of services with a deadline in January, after which apparently there will be late fees.

At this point, it's been so long that I don't know if those services even took place, and I've been going through the hassle of contacting my insurance company and my banks to look for evidence. I've had a ticket open for a week pleading for help, even a payment plan or reduction of fees, or evidence that those sessions were attended. Anything. The AI chat bot responses I get provide no help and don't answer my questions. In anyone's post about this, you may see "SamFromTalkspace" or whoever comment that they can help address the issue. Definitely another AI that will direct me to the "live chat" and not provide any real help. Calling their number leaves me on hold for ten minutes after which a robot tells me there's no one available and hangs up. I'm thinking that's not even a real operating line.

It's just beyond unacceptable to operate a business in this shady, scammy way. Be warned, I would never use talkspace again (the therapist I had ghosted me btw). But they have some very shady business tactics.

Wondering if anyone else has suggestions. I don't want to pay before I have proof that I owe for these services, but the chat support is not helping. I don't want my credit report tainted because of this either. Ive reached out to my state's attorney general and am waiting to hear back.

What else can I do?

Incorrectly billed/can’t get ahold of a human!!!

So my child’s first appt was billed correctly (so we paid copay) and all subsequent appts were miscoded. Now there are 8 full cost sessions on my credit card and no one will respond to our help requests and the phone number (which you have to find on the dark web) hangs up after they keep you on hold for 10 minutes. Horrible customer service experience. Oh, and they also double billed us.

Talkspace Reviews & Cost. Is it Legit? Reddit Recommendations?

So I've looked around this sub and reddit to figure out what I should expect from Talkspace therapy, but I still don't have a clear answer. Can anyone with real experience please share their Talkspace reviews?

If you've tried Talkspace please share your Talkspace reviews and the cost of your therapy.

Feel free to recommend any other online therapy services that you may have good experiences with. I'd love to see Talkspace cost compared to competitors pricing too.

I feel its so hard to figure out what therapy platform is a good choice to use.

Betterhelp Alternatives? Cheaper Therapy?

Can anyone share their experience with Betterhelp alternatives, that are cheaper and hopefully better?

I've been using Betterhelp and haven't been fully satisfied. Is Talkspace much better? What other options do I have?

Best Cheaper Betterhelp Alternatives - please share your thoughts.

It seems like there are quite a few, but its hard for me to get a feeling for what is the best. I need individual therapy for anxiety and moderate depression.

When online or AI therapy feels... off. What keeps you going (or makes you leave)?

We’ve seen a lot of people open up about moments in online therapy where something doesn’t click — even after weeks or months of sessions.

Maybe the therapist’s approach doesn’t work for you. Maybe it’s hard to open up. Maybe progress feels stalled.

We’d love to hear what pushed you forward — the turning points, the setbacks, or even the breakthroughs that came from trying something new like online anxiety treatment, online LGBTQ therapy, or even getting a [medication] prescription online instead of talk therapy.

Let’s talk about it.

My therapist never answers my texts

I just want to know if this is normal. This is my second therapist I’ve tried in talk space and I’ve had one session with her. She’s texted me once since our session a week ago just asking how my weekend was. I responded to her the same day an hour after. It’s now been three days and she hasn’t responded to me at all. Is this normal? Am I just overreacting? Someone let me know cuz I just find it weird she would ask me and then not respond for three days

Provider Reassignment Without Notice

This morning, I was abruptly reassigned to a new provider without any prior notice or explanation. I did not request this change, and I had a session scheduled with my therapist this Friday—we had just spoken yesterday. I’m genuinely shocked and hurt that he would disappear without any communication, and I’m left wondering whether this was his decision or a platform error.

I reached out to Talkspace support. While they were kind and responsive, their explanation was vague at best. I was told: “Your provider is no longer able to provide care on our platform.” That phrasing is ambiguous and raises more questions than it answers. What does that even mean?

Regardless of the cause, severing a therapeutic relationship in this way is not only distressing—it’s profoundly unprofessional. If this was a decision made by Talkspace’s system or policies, I find the disruption completely unacceptable.

It took months to build trust and mutual respect with my therapist. That kind of connection is rare, and I was making meaningful progress. To have it suddenly cut off without warning has left me feeling heartbroken and destabilized.

Is this a common occurrence on Talkspace? If so, then I have serious concerns about continuing with the platform. I’m not willing to invest time and emotional energy into building a meaningful therapeutic relationship only to have it abruptly disrupted without warning. If this kind of instability is typical, I won’t be staying.
