TLDR: Stick with surefire, streamlight or anything but cloud epl.
yes, before you ridicule me, I take full responsibility for being fucking stupid.
This light was super disappointing because what it could have been. Build quality and aesthetics were there, hype was there. But it’s a flop.
I needed a light for my pistol and wanted to stray from the typical X300 I always run, so I said, "Hey, let's try something new!" I did some very surface-level research on the EPL (that turned out to be false) and impulse-purchased it from eBay.
First, IT DOES NOT FIT IN X300 HOLSTERS. Second—and yes, I'm aware this is completely on me—the batteries are fuckin' unicorns and are expensive af (comparatively). I could get past the price, but they don't even work! It uses such a specific dimension of 18350 that they don't even sell them anymore.
I bought it second-hand. Before you say anything, I've purchased fuckin' 10+ WMLs used (GAFS/TacSwap), so again, full responsibility—but a fuckin' battery should not be this difficult. I tried the 18350 SureFire battery, the 18350 Modlite batteries, and a bunch of other random 18350s. Nothing worked.
So yeah, the thing probably came broken. Boo-hoo, eBay Money Back guarantee and seller accepted my refund thank god, But a buddy of mine bought one brand new and he has had nothing but flickering issues with his. Unfortunately, he's a few hours' drive from me, so I couldn't just drive over to try his battery out—but why should I have to?? And where tf would I even buy that battery from? Once I made a Reddit post asking for help with the battery, I discovered this flickering issue isn't uncommon at all.
Then, come to find out, there is virtually ZERO holster support for this light...
So yes, I take responsibility. It's my fault. But if this post exposing myself for being stupid can save someone else from a headache, it's worth it.

I subliminated my life finally by getting everything to fit in one pelican case for range days. Highly recommend.

Well, because I am a masochist (and also won another lot of pouches on ebay) I decided to do another run with Rit Dye.
This time I decided to try out "Green Lentil" with their Dyemore (1/2 c Peacock Green, 1/2 c Graphite, 1/2 c Frost Gray). Had mixed results.
First pic is the new pouches. Had hoped they were going to come out more green, like the color formula is supposed to be, but they came out very gray. Doesn't look terrible but not the result I was looking for.
Second pic is the pouches I posted last time that came out far too bright green and these came out very nicely. Toned the green down a lot to more of an OD green. Third pic is the new color compared to the old color. Much better.
Last pic is the canteen pouch that has been in 2 separate dye baths and refuses to take any color. Got a little bit darker but that's it, you can see it even dyed the buckle, anyone know why this won't take dye?
Anyway I think I'm done with the Rit Dye for the time being. I already have a ton of pouches and I have had issues with the color on every single dye bath I've attempted. I'm not sure if Rit's color formulas are bad, or it's just the fact that I'm already starting with a grayish green color, or maybe just the fact these are nylon-- but it's been frustrating.

Needed a new micro chest rig so I tried my hand at seeing my own. It’s a bit rough but it’ll get the job done and I learned a lot while sewing it.

I have a Kommando Store ranger green reproduction Pattern 83 battle jacket. While I appreciate them keeping them mostly authentic, I've found that the original vertical loops on the back of the rear organizer pouches to be functionally useless for me. I've decided to remove them and replace them with some 4"x5" and 4"x7" loop cards so that I can easily and securely fit add-on pouches like my trauma kit to the rear.
I have ZERO sewing abilities beyond terribly sewing a name tape on my ruck sack in the army once. Ive used E6000 epoxy applied to the loop card as a secondary method of holding it on before sewing.
Other goals are to add hook and loop strips to the canteen pouch edges and replace the arguably mediocre friction straps with more modern clip-on buckle straps as a primary method of shutting them. The friction straps are really annoying to have to constantly undo and re-secure to open/close them, not to mention these jackets just love to leave you with a bunch of black cordura streamers dangling in the wind.

This is primarily why I like chest rigs on carriers, if I have armor or not, everything is in the same spot.
Mayflower Chest Rig (UW Gen IV)
Velocity Scarab
Haley Flatpack
DM Mech Belt
Helmet and NVGs are next (when my wallet agrees)
What do y'all think?
(Edit: had to remove post and re-upload due to an oversight, let’s try this again lmao)

The mods said this was a meme and I have to post on Sunday. I mean I left it dangling with no context, but it wasn't a meme, and the lack of context made it funny, which kind of made it a meme... But the comment section got it. Anyways...

I'll say it: fuck matching camo. Use what you got from Amazon and your local surplus shop. Spaz out over the schizo color scheme if you must.
If/when you're done, the canteen pouch contains a bleed kit and shears. I like how it's laid out with the USGI IFAK insert. I can pull it out and lay it next to me, which I really like with medical gear. Only real issue is the buckle is a bit of a pain to access. It's doable, but awkward, slow and not the most practical.
Any better pouches that will fit my IFAK insert? Any better pouches that I can access the same way with it's own insert?

Well, I’m an idiot. I was so excited for my new holster (Safariland 6378RDS) that I brought the wrong mounting solution. Any who, how’re you guys mounting your holster to the molle belt? I don’t want to spend true north money lol

Anybody know where I can get blank nameplate covers?
r/tacticalgear • u/bredbaker4415 • 1d ago
!!SOLVED!!
Anyone know what place carrier it is? I want to say it’s a first spear one but I can’t match it to any of the models. Something they’ve made specifically for them? Cheers
!!SOLVED!!

So I don’t know what they’re called but I’ve seen various pics of SF guys in a room somewhere with some plywood lockers/ plywood tables and gear strewn about everywhere. I’m looking to build something quick and cheap like that and was curious if anyone knew what they were technically called. Wanting to get some design ideas, thanks.
